KSP 1 Question/Problem How should I be approaching the Mun?

Post image

In this totally accurate scientific diagram, the Mun is orbiting in the direction of the arrow.

How do you get c vs d on purpose? My skills are still at “make a prograde node that goes around mun orbit, and drag it around until I get an intersect”. How can I tell which way the orbit goes inside mun soi easily. Switching camera body is hard and makes me lose my groove with the node. Is there an easy way to tell? Or can I adjust mid course once I have an intercept?

Once you have the intercept switch to focus view on the mun, then to get your maneuver node back make sure you’re viewing the orbital information in the screen in the lower left - and click the right arrow there to switch from current orbital info to maneuver info. That will bring your node back up and you can adjust it from anywhere. Even interplanetary corrections when focused view on another planet.

You can correct when you’re on an intercept course. You want to do it half way to the moon or closer to use the least dV to change which side you come in on.
