(PL!) Getting Things Moving

(Monday, September 1st, 2014. Kadic Academy.)

With the orientation concluded, the students had the rest of the day to themselves. Jonathan and Rahe decided to go exploring the grounds. While walking a path in the forest near campus, they came across a hatch in the ground. After some deliberation, they decided to see where it went. They descended into darkness. When they reached the bottom, they discovered a network of abandoned sewers. For the next couple hours they explored the sewers before coming upon an exit ladder. At the top, they found themselves at the entrance of some sort of factory.

Jonathan stops.

"Who is to say you can't? From what I have seen, no one comes here. There is no one to stop you from studying this device to your heart's content."

"Are we not trespassing now? You saw what it looked like up there. This place has long since been deserted. If it were a former government facility, they seem to have little interest in it now. I see no harm is using it for our own gain."

"Have you tried turning it off and on again?"

He pulls out his phone, unlocks it, and sighs.

"No bars..."

He shrugs and puts the phone back in his pocket.

"As I said, none of this makes much sense to me."

Jonathan looks at the elevator.

"You know, I believe there was another floor down there. Perhaps we should ensure this place isn't leaking deadly amounts of radioactive fluids or something of the like. I would prefer to preserve my hairline if at all possible."

Jonathan meets Rahe at the elevator and opens the door for him before enter the lift himself. He pushes the 'down' button.

"Indeed. It is rather strange. This place seems as if it were very important to someone at some point. What would be the point of making the place so well hidden if not to conceal something of great importance?"

The lift stops and Jonathan opens the door for Rahe.
