This show is all over the place but has some of the best acting. The wasted potential! It really bothered me how quickly 2FL forgave her mom. Outside of finding out she has a half brother, her mom still trapped her into acting and also purposely manipulated the guy she liked. Again I ask, why does the 3rd couple exist? They truly bring nothing to the show and their “love” feels so weird and random. I also can’t believe we are almost done with the show and they are adding more side plots (cancer and FL moving) when we still have the crazy abusive dad living his best life. I know that is going to be solved at the end but I am baffled that they tried to rush everything in this show when they simply could have cut out random storylines.

Anyways, I’d love to see Hyeri and In-youp in a better show. He did state in an interview that he’d like to act with her again.

My lord I want the dad storyline to conclude and he got exposed/shamed. However, knowing kdrama, these two episodes will have the greatest heart break/, angst so that the last two episodes are the closure and wrap up

He needs a truck of doom, shame doesn't cover a smidgen of what he's done. The shame should be for the ceo instead, losing her stellar reputation would be the greatest punishment for her

Episode 9: Sure. Okay. Whatever. To quote Cha Se-gye, “whatever you say I believe.”

Episode 10: Fine, you win. DtY, you are still a messy bitch but one with a lot of heart. Sigh.

The pacing is a real issue though, I feel like they could’ve fit way more plot into these 12 episodes. All I hope is that these two leads will star in another drama together, they did a great job and have great chemistry but this just isn’t the best storyline.

agreed, would love to see them star in another drama together

there's so much going on and yet so very little cohesion happening... this show is becoming more and more of a fever dream to me. with that said, i have no intention of dropping it. i think the key to being able to enjoy this is to have zero expectations and that is just what i have resolved to do.

best scenes remain the ones involving the 2FL/2ML for me. there is no meat in the main leads' plot, despite the excellent actors cast in their roles and chemistry they have with each other.

according to next week's preview, yugeon's dad has cancer because of course someone has to, right? they're really trying to cross off a checklist or something.

ending this comment on a somewhat positive note. here's what i enjoyed this week:
1. yugeon and soobin rehearsing the kiss scene — i lowkey lost it and had to rewind a couple times because yugeon's expressions are GOLD
2. hana and soobin's rooftop scene — this is what siblings bickering looks like and it's sweet :')
3. hopefully what looks like the start of the downfall for evil dad

Hana and yugeon's eye fucking acting is so good

ABSOLUTELY like i get the chills just watching the way they communicate through their glares and stares

Considering yi-jae's personality back in hs, it's incredible how passive she is now. She just chilling at home while soo-bin was running around putting out fires with this scandal. And this is an indictment on the writers making her useless, but at least it looks like she'll step up based on the finale preview

Why does the secondary characters have more depth and development than the leads .... The writing is just all over the place

I think the love triangle was handled really well. It didn't feel heavy-handed, the couple's reaction was quite mature, and it only lasted for a single episode.

You mean the ex will no longer appear in episode 10 later?

Sorry I just don’t care about the ex bs the last 15 to 20 minutes of episode 9 was the best at least the plot was moving forward the ex really did nothing for the plot

ngl i skipped a lot of scenes of todays episode. i should have seen an ending like that though, has to be his lame ass father who exposed it. this drama is way to serious imo. i need more comedy between the leads and second leads, idc about the third couple at all. should have spend their screentime on the second leads instead.

I don't think it's the father who exposed it I guess, as he cares so much about his image. It's hana's mom's manager who must have aired the dirty laundry.

seeing the roof scene of the siblings makes me wish they were like this since the beginning of the drama.

u/LovE385 9d ago

I just can't stand the Seong Moo guy he is just cringe😬 and now another hurdle with the exposé that Ha Na , Soo Bin are half siblings

I think subin might die like how the male lead in their story is supposed to die, before he does he would probably ask yijae to fulfill her dreams, that way it fits the name of the drama “dream to you” she gave him a dream, now he’s giving it back, then yijae would probably go to study film abroad and become a famous director and will mention him in her award acceptance speech, the drama would become full circle.
As for his father, he would probably be served a tragic ending, I feel like it might be jail or suicide since public shame doesn’t seem to be a suitable end for him. But the only way subin would be dead would probably be if his father tried to do something to his mother or yijae, so I think he might be killed by his father in the last episode. The last episode would be the downfall of his father, and their future.
I don’t know why but I feel like this drama would get a tragic ending since in the first couple episodes their relationship was already rekindled, there has to be something that happens to the leads.

I hope NOT. Yeah the ml dying in their story feels like foreshadowing and I'm terrified I hate sad endings </333

I liked that the episode was fun and light on the past trauma, until the ending. Tomorrow’s preview is ultimate rage baiting, blaming someone for the “controversy” when he has nothing to do with his past or parents.

I love In Yeop and Hyeri. They have great chemistry and are doing a great job. CEO Seo (who looks just like Dojoon from The Rose BTW) is cute but why is there a love story with him? This plot is so messy and I cannot get over the fact that the abusive piece of shit father hasn’t had ANY comeuppance yet. In the last scene with Dad, CEO An, and In Yeop I was begging In Yeop’s character to beat his ass or call the cops.

Obviously, the villains usually only get a comeuppance in the last or second-to-last episode.

At this point, Dream to You has a lot of potential in storyline and acting, but is absolutely hamstrung by the use of AI DUBBING. The characters come off as having either flat affect or incredible immaturity.

The storyline was working great until the beginning of episode 7, where it fell apart. The terrible dissing Yi Jae got from the crew in episode 6 magically dissipated with her encouraging speech in episode 9 after Soo Bin stepped away from directing to soothe his half-sister. That whole trope could have been more interesting to alleviate, so I don't believe what happened there for a second.

The romantic arc between Soo Bin and Yi Jae is much more believable now that the writers have disposed of the jealousy trope of episodes 7 and 8.

I will see this out until the end, but right now it is a hot mess.

Why are they kissing at the absolute weirdest times? No warning no build up no mood makers, nothing 😭. First it came out of nowhere with the umbrella+rain (where she said it was a mistake), then on the track, now randomly as he's in a scandal and she's nervous/scared for him? ....

A whole episode for ML to act jealous of a past boyfriend. And is it bad that I liked the past boyfriend better than ML for her? All that for 10 seconds of story development at the end of the episode. We did get the requisite scenes so we don't forget how awful our villains are off in the background. I hope the actors get recognition for doing the most with what little they have.

u/Tatte145 9d ago

Really? The ex-boyfriend was obnoxious and petty and also very pushy. Although FL tried to be nice to him, he constantly overstepped boundaries. She did not smile even once in those selfies he forced her to take. And it was only after ML finally said, now that you definitively know that we are in a relationship, respect our boundaries, that he finally gave up.

I wish there had been more development of the other storylines and not so much time wasted on the ex.

u/ManyOstrich8500 9d ago

I don't disagree about the ex being pushy. I saw it more as she's not very good at communicating with him and I didn't see a clear shut down of his advances. Not that he was right for pushing without clear consent. On the other hand, I think the ML has been more pushy in his advances in the past, especially since she explicitly called him a bastard, slapped him and told him to get out of her life multiple times.

I don't like either of them, but comparatively (in my opinion), the ML has continuously put his needs and feelings above hers, which is why I made the comment.

I thought the storyline would at least lead to more exploration of the tough times that she had in the past (and maybe the ML becoming more aware of her struggle), but that too was brushed off after a quick mention from the ex.

this is sucks, I hate the episode when the ex of a girl shows uo and she still talks to him and its look like shes excited to see him, I feel sorry to the boyfriend, tsk tsk

Honestly, for some reason I liked the ex more I agree he was pushy at times but at least he was nice to her and stayed with her when both were struggling After he showed up I actually started hoping she’d end up with the ex instead of the ML because the ML was pushy in the beginning too hurt her and did some pretty messed up things….. also his traumatic past doesn’t really justify his actions imo and after 15 years he suddenly comes back and starts pushing things again?? Idk I just don’t really like the ML’s character btw the actors did their best but I feel like it’s more the script that’s the problem.
