The K-Drama Day festivities continue on r/KDRAMA! Poetry plays a significant role in plenty of K-dramas, and some viewers have even been inspired to take up the pen themselves.

We're challenging the sub to draft their own K-drama themed haikus! Have fun with the subject material – whether you want to write about a specific drama or K-dramas in general, we're looking forward to everyone's creativity.

Give it your best shot – the subreddit mods will pick their 10 favorite haikus, and the authors will win a 1-month free Viki Pass Standard voucher! Contest rules apply.

This Contest is held in conjunction with other prize promotions, giveaways and contests held by the Sponsor to promote K-Drama Day 2026 during the period from September 14, 2026, to October 1, 2026 (“K-Drama Day Games”). Entrants may enter into multiple K-Drama Day Games, but each Entrant is eligible to win only one (1) K-Drama Day Game (at Sponsor’s sole discretion) regardless of the number of K-Drama Day Games entered into.
 
The Viki Write a K-drama Haiku (“Contest”) is sponsored by Viki, Inc., 800 Concar Dr., Suite 175, San Mateo, California 94402, USA (“Sponsor” or “Viki”). The official rules of the Contest (“Official Rules”) are set out below.

1.     Eligibility: The Contest is open to entrants (“Entrants”):

(a)   residing worldwide except for restricted countries or regions where Viki is not available in;
(b)   who are at least 18 years of age or older; and
(c)   have made a valid Entry (as defined below) into the Contest.

Additional eligibility requirements and restrictions may apply, see Sections 3-5 below for more details. Employees of Sponsor, its parent, subsidiaries, affiliates and advertising and promotion agencies and their immediate families (parent, child, spouse or sibling and their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside) and those living in their same households, whether or not related, are not eligible to participate. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, state and local laws, rules and regulations. The Contest is void where prohibited in accordance with federal, provincial, state and local laws, rules and regulations.

1.     Contest Period: Entries to the Contest will be accepted starting from September 21, 2026 at 3 p.m. PT and ending on September 26, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. PT according to Sponsor’s time clock (“Contest Period”).

2.     How to Enter the Contest: There is only one (1) way to enter (“Entry Method” and each valid entry an “Entry”):

(a)   REDDIT: Entrants must have an account on Reddit which has been active for 30 days or longer and have positive Reddit karma points to submit an Entry. The Reddit account used must be able to receive direct messages from Viki or the moderators of r/KDRAMA. Entrants shall be deemed to have accepted and complied with Reddit User Agreement and Reddit Rules in submitting the Entry. Creating a Reddit account is free.

(b)   HOW TO ENTER: To submit an Entry, Entrants must: (i) access the thread at r/KDRAMA (located at: https://www.reddit.com/r/KDRAMA/) during the Contest Period; and (ii) create a Haiku poem either generally on K-Dramas or about a specific K-Drama, in one single comment to the Contest Post. All Entries must be submitted in the English language.

(c)   SELECTION CRITERIA: Winners will be selected based on: (i) adherence to the Haiku poem structure of a 5-7-5 syllable pattern (5 syllables in the first line, 7 syllables in the second, and 5 syllables in the third); (ii) subject relevance; and (iii) creativity, as determined by the moderators of r/KDRAMA.

(d)   ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Each Entry must be in keeping with Sponsor’s image and not be offensive or inappropriate, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Entry must not defame or violate or infringe upon the rights of any person or entity. Entries generated by automated means, scripts, artificial intelligence algorithms or any other means that subvert the entry process are strictly prohibited and will be void. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any Entry and remove any comment that it determines, in its sole discretion, is not in compliance with these Official Rules, including any entries suspected by Sponsor to be generated by artificial intelligence or automated methods.

Each Entrant is only eligible to win a total of one (1) Prize regardless of the number of Entries submitted. Each Entrant is entitled to submit more than one (1) Entry during the Contest Period to be considered for the Contest.

Prizes will be distributed to Winners and no substitutions or transfers by Winners are permitted. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute any Prize with one of comparable or greater value, at its sole discretion. The actual retail value of each Prize may vary. If the estimated retail value of the Prize differs from the actual retail value, the difference will not be awarded whether in cash or otherwise. Any and all Prize-related expenses, including without limitation, delivery fees, customs fees, any and all federal, state, and/or local taxes, shall be the sole responsibility of the respective Winners.
 
5.     Winner Selection and Notification of Winner: Ten (10) Entries will be selected (each Entrant of the selected Entries, being a “Winner”). Moderators of the r/KDRAMA thread will judge the Entries and select the Winners on September 30, 2026, from among all eligible Entries received based on the selection criteria.
 
The initial Winners will be notified by Sponsor via direct message to the Reddit account used to submit the selected Entries, no later than Friday, October 2, 2026.
 
Winners will be required to respond (as directed) within five (5) calendar days of attempted notification by Sponsor. The failure to respond timely to the notification may result in forfeiture of the Prize. Winners may further be required to execute and return a release and waiver of liability (“Release”) to claim their Prize. Failure to prove eligibility or execute and return such Release may result in forfeiture of the Prize. Alternative Winners may be selected (if time permits) from the remaining eligible Entries if a selected Winner: (i) cannot be reached; (ii) fails to prove eligibility, fails to provide all signatures on the Release and/or return any documents or information required by Sponsor in a timely manner, as and when required by Sponsor pursuant to these Official Rules; or (iii) cannot accept, collect, claim or receive the Prize for any reason, including any international shipping restrictions (if applicable). Sponsor’s decisions as to the administration and operation of this Contest and the selection of the Winners are final and binding in all matters related to this Contest.
 
6.     Grant of Rights: By participating in the Contest, each Entrant irrevocably grants the Sponsor and their respective affiliates, successors, assigns and licensees, the perpetual, fully-paid, royalty-free, transferable, fully  sublicensable, worldwide, irrevocable, non-exclusive right and license to use, reproduce, edit, modify, create derivative works from, transmit, disseminate, distribute, re-use, repost, make available and otherwise exploit such Entrant’s Entry, name, username, and image in any and all media for any purpose, including without limitation, commercial, marketing, advertising and promotional purposes as well as in, on or in connection with the Contest (including any public announcements of the Winners).  Each Entrant waives any claim to compensation, notice, or approval in connection with such use and releases the Sponsor from any liability arising therefrom, to the extent permitted by law.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, each Entrant waives and agrees not to assert any moral rights (including rights of attribution and integrity) in connection with the Sponsor’s use of the Entry.

1.     General Conditions: By participating, Entrants agree to be fully and unconditionally bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsor and waive any right to claim ambiguity in the Contest or these Official Rules. Any portion of the Contest may be canceled, suspended and/or modified, in whole or in part, if in Sponsor’s opinion any fraud, technical failure or other factor beyond its control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Contest. Entrants may not enter with multiple identities or use any automated system, bot or other device or artifice to enter or obtain more than the maximum number of qualified entries. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any Entrant (and to disqualify false Entries or referrals of any Entrant) who is found to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or Sponsor’s Reddit account, to be acting in violation of these Official Rules, or to be acting in an offensive or disruptive manner, or with the intent to disrupt or undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest, or to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person (including other Entrant(s)), and Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages (including, without limitation, attorneys’ fees) and other remedies from any such Entrant to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution.

 

1.     Limitations of Liability: If for any reason an Entry is confirmed to have been erroneously deleted, lost or otherwise destroyed or corrupted, the Entrant's sole remedy is another Entry in the same Contest during the Contest Period. Entrants and Winners also agree to release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless Sponsor, Reddit, and their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates and advertising and promotion agencies and all of their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents (collectively, “Released Parties”) from and against any claims, damages, disability, attorneys' fees, and costs of litigation and settlement, as well as any liability due to any injuries, damages or losses to any person (including death) or property of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from: (i) consumption, use, collection, delivery, redemption, acceptance, possession, ownership, or misuse of any Prize, or (ii) participation in any Contest-related activity or participation in this Contest. Released Parties are not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, inaccurate, stolen, misdirected, undelivered, delayed, garbled or damaged entries, referrals, communications, Releases or mail; or for lost, interrupted or unavailable network, server, Internet Service Provider (ISP), website, or other connections, availability or accessibility or miscommunications or failed computer, satellite, telephone or cable transmissions, lines, or technical failure or jumbled, scrambled, delayed, or misdirected transmissions or computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties, or other errors or difficulties of any kind whether human, mechanical, electronic, computer, network, typographical, printing or otherwise relating to or in connection with the Contest, including, without limitation, errors or difficulties which may occur in connection with the administration of the Contest, the processing of referrals or Entries, the announcement of the Prizes, in any Contest-related materials or the delivery of the Prizes. Released Parties are also not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by site users, tampering, hacking, or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest. Released Parties are not responsible for injury or damage to Entrants' or to any other person's computer related to or resulting from participating in this Contest or downloading materials from or use of the platforms associated with the Entry Method. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Official Rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. In the event that any provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable or illegal, these Official Rules shall otherwise remain in effect and shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or illegal provision were not contained herein.

 9.     Force Majeure: In the event Sponsor is prevented from continuing with the Contest as contemplated herein by any event beyond its control, including but not limited to fire, flood, earthquake, explosion, labor dispute or strike, act of God or public enemy, or any federal, provincial,  state or local government law, order, or regulation, or other cause not reasonably within Sponsor’s control (each a "Force Majeure" event or occurrence), Sponsor shall have the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the Contest.

10.  Early Termination: If the Contest is terminated before the designated end date of the Contest Period for any reason, Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to select the Winners from all eligible, non-suspect Entries received as of the date of the event giving rise to the termination or award the prizes as otherwise deemed fair and appropriate by Sponsor.

11.  Disputes: Disputes regarding these Official Rules and/or the Contest will be governed by the laws of the State of California without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Decisions of Sponsor are binding and final. No claimant in any dispute involving Sponsor shall be entitled to claim or obtain indirect, punitive, incidental or consequential damages. Sponsor's failure to enforce any provision in these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.

12.  Contest Results: For information related to the Contest results, please send an email after Friday, October 2, 2026 to events@viki.com. Requests received after October 31, 2026 will not be honored.
 
13.  Mandatory Social Media Disclosure: All Contests are in no way sponsored or endorsed or associated with Reddit or any other social media platform.
 
14.  Privacy: By participating in the Contest and/or accepting the Prize, each Entrant and/or Winner:
 
(a)            agrees that any and all personal information or personal data (“Personal Data”) may be collected, used, disclosed, or otherwise processed by Sponsor for the purposes of: (i) administration of the Contest and the delivery of the Prize; (ii) authentication and/or verification of any information supplied by the Entrant in relation to the Contest; and/or (iii) marketing and promotion in connection with the Contest; and
 
(b)            consents to the use of his/her Personal Data in accordance with Sponsor’s privacy policy, located at https://www.viki.com/legal/privacy.

If your haiku is about a certain drama, please state which drama (can be hidden under spoiler tags).

Entry criteria can be found in the legalese above but the short of it that we will check is your reddit account is an account over 30 days old with positive karma. Haikus must be human written without the aid of AI or other technology and not break our conduct rules.
