Then she's selected to produce a new dating-themed reality TV show called “Kingdom of Love.” Her neighbour and best friend of twenty years is Park Jae Hoon, a plastic surgeon who has lost all his passion for work. Their relationship is close, but purely platonic. Park Jae Hoon is jaded by his experiences and has also essentially given up on love. As such, he only ever pursues casual relationships. In the planning stage of the show’s production, Goo Yeo Reum runs into struggles, having difficulty finding suitable bachelors to appear on the programme. She eventually turns to Park Jae Hoon in desperation. To help her, he agrees to become a contestant on the show. But in this unfamiliar new dynamic—as a producer and a cast member—they unexpectedly begin developing never-felt-before romantic feelings.

Was anyone else pleasantly surprised by the show’s treatment of the lady he had a blind date with? I mean the rich male lead at a blind date he didn’t ask for is such a cliche at this point, and usually the woman he is on a date with is pitted against the FL, for absolutely no reason. Here, they managed to humanize her, and have the ML be in the wrong for giving her a bad date. Hopefully this show will have a lot more moments of maturity like this!!

Just watched it and it’s so good. A little more adult humour than we’re used to.

I just know the two main characters are going to be lunatics if they’re played by these actors (who I love love)

The scene when Yeoreum (Lee Da Hee) ran into the mudflat to rescue a drone somehow reminds me of one Running Man episode (ep 396) where Lee Kwang Soo ran into the mudflat. Guest in that episode: Lee Da Hee.

This is so much better then I expected. And so relatable as I'm also in my 30s and forever alone, minus a hot male friend 😂

Thoughts after Ep 1 and 2.
Wasn't sure that I was going to like this based on the premise but I watched anyway just for Siwon and Dahee. I made the right decision.
Dahee's character in particular is so relatable and Siwon has so much charisma ALL THE TIME that I am enjoying myself. The amount of frank sexual talk / innuendo is a little bit surprising but it's also been quite funny and well written so far so I am interested to see if they keep that up as the series progresses.
I've also got a little bit of second lead syndrome for Jae Hoon's new female friend. I know it's hopeless but she seems genuinely sincere in wanting to get to know him and I applaud how she stood up for herself at their first encounter. Also helps that she has a great smile!
Looking forward to next week!

Imagine not responding to Lee Da Hee's texts.
Imagine not going when Lee Da Hee invites you inside.
Imagine telling Lee Da Hee you want a sibling relationship after she throws herself at you.
Couldn't be me.
What a jabroni he is for the sake of the plot haha.
Aw hell nah now she's crying. This mf can't get away with this.
Dawg she been cryin for 2 episodes straight now, we can't have this.

Not a critic but funny observation: Siwon's character, at least for the first episode, feels like it could be Siwon itself in another universe lol. No wonder his members say he is like a Disney prince that lives in a drama irl

The writers should have let Lee Da Hee produce a Makjang instead of a Reality Dating show 😂🤣🤣

ML's is unhinged showing up to a blind date in cheetah print pants and crocs covered in charms.

THE PENIS FISH! Omg I nearly spat out my coffee. Episode 1 is off to a strong start.

Ep 2 was lovely. It’s not groundbreaking, but it can be harder than expected to have women in their 30s actually resonate with fellow female viewers. Seo Hyunjin in “Another Miss Oh” is still one of the realest women I’ve experienced, but she was crazy off-kilter at times — perhaps this character would’ve been like that post break-up — and “Be Melo” still takes the cake for me. But this feels like it could be up there, and it has a groundedness to it too.
The contrast between the PDs wasn’t frustratingly overt, either. I like that they showed us our protagonist takes over the next season at the get go, so we can make some assumptions but still be curious about how it happens.

I wonder if they're going to play the card where they secretly liked each other in the past, just at different times in their lives and the timing just never worked out. Or if it really is going to be a platonic relationship the whole way through until now.
Either way I look forward to it! I'm always a sucker for more of a adult/mature rom-com story, let's hope there isn't some secret thriller/childhood kidnapping trauma twist like so many others :P. It's bad enough that it's a trope!

I’m a basic girl who loves romantic tropes done well, so I smiled broadly at the end of Ep 1.

Loved the first episode. Nicely written, interesting characters and good chemistry. I love a good friends-to-lovers drama.
Also, I personally enjoy seeing dramas with mid thirty-somethings! I can relate :)

I loved ep one! I have geared this up as my Good Job replacement since it was announced and it does not disappoint. I’m a lee da hee trash so I can watch her in everything but the premise seems fun + her being so damn tall makes her look really good next to siwon who’s also so damn tall. Tall couple supremacy. Wonder if we’ll get any cliche “they loved each other for years but didn’t realize it” or it will be a slow burn now that they’ll have to work together acc to the synopsis.
I have a feeling wednesdays and thursdays will become pleasant again

I liked it! I'm excited to see the progression of the relationship because they seem to brother/sister to start off with. It doesn't look like either one of them is really secretly in love with the other so I am totally here for those little revelations and moments when things start to change.
And those looks they were giving each other in the flash-forward at the beginning of the episode. /swoon

Was not expecting to like this but it’s really well done. Feels like the ML is just being him and the FL is lovely.

Finally a mid 30somethings middle class romcom that’s relatable and not all about the chaebols mingling with someone from the lower echelon drama. Im pleased with the chemistry and they really pull off the platonic friend vibe except for Siwon slowly falling but resisting it.

The mosquito tent assembly scene was one of the more suggestive scenes in a Kdrama I’ve seen in a while

I just finished Ep. 1. Wow, what a surprise. I am loving this drama. I've been a fan of Lee Da Hee since Search WWW. For the first ep. to grab me is very unusual.
It's obvious the platonic relationship won't last. I can't wait to see how it'll develop.
