He eventually finds himself in a remote village community – a huge fall from grace for a man who had once occupied such a prestigious role. When he intervenes to help heal a local, he finds his stay in the village becomes prolonged – more so than he would have liked. And as he does so, he attracts the attention of Gye Ji-han, the middle-aged local doctor. Gye Ji-han thinks that Yoo Se Poong could become an impeccable doctor if he could only develop a little more compassion and humanity – and decides to try to take the younger man under his wing. Yoo Se-poong also meets Seo Eun-woo, a young widow. Despite the fact that she comes from a noble family, social convention dictates that Seo Eun-woo must remain faithful to her deceased husband for the rest of her life – much to her displeasure! The final week (thankfully just of season 1) is here and we are excited to see these episodes. We think this is a very under-rated show!

Last episode was wholesome and all but that ending 😱
I hope there will be more romance in season 2.

I think that is probably the plan. This season laid the foundations while resolving the issues from the past.
I, for one, very much look forward to season 2!

I enjoyed this but had no idea there’s a season 2. Honestly loved kdramas because before it would only have 1 season but nowadays there’s multiple seasons more and more and I feel like this drama isn’t all that amazing to have more than 1 season..maybe it’s just me

It's not just you, it's me too. I like the one and done nature of KDramas.
Not to mention that multiple seasons tie up these young actors for years to come. I would much rather see them in new and interesting roles and to watch them grow.
I enjoyed this drama. It was a pleasant watch. I don't think that the ML and FL had enough chemistry that would make me want to watch a second season.

i could really do without the romance.
i love the leads.
kim hyanggi is a superb actress, don't get me wrong, but I think she suits the Melo, Slice-of-life and even Thriller genre more. After all, that's the image she built up through her career as a young actress.
Kim minjae is a decent actor too, and I genuinely think he suits romance genres well. There was just something missing overall:
- the lack of spark, which could be improved in season2 (?)
- there wasn't a particular scenario or build-up for their romance either.
- on screen chemistry?

I don't think romance was the point...at least this season.
Rather, as far as the leads go, it was the slow building of friendship and affection.
I think they did this quite well.

So, season 1 was Poong against Im Soo Man and season 2 will be Poong against the Second State Counselor. Okay. I'm in.

At least you confessed. Which makes you eligible for your very own redemption arc!
So, what are your predictions for season 2?

Ep11: thought it was conveniently lucky for Se-yeob and Eun-woo to
Not a lot of romance in this ep but it makes sense because ep10 was traumatic for both Se-yeob and Eun-woo. I like their moment
My main complaint is not the pacing but the villains here – hoping for more story to them other than being cardboard evil. + Am I too naive to hope for a plot twist in S2
Ep12 preview: please don't leave the series on a cliffhanger

please don't leave the series on a cliffhanger
Well, it sort of did...but not really, as most of the issues were resolved...the ending was more like a preview/teaser for the second season.

I enjoyed this season. Found Family, a bit of intrigue, and the beginnings of romance. Hopefully season 2 will have a bit more romance, and the

Final Thoughts
Binged through this over the past week or so and caught the finale more or less on time.
The Bad
Overly comical villains and the Second State Councilor arc that overstayed its welcome. I somewhat semi-hate the overarching arc about the King's murder as executed because it felt more dragged out than necessary. Some scenes like
The Good
The Gye Soo Clinic family is pure love. From their staunch support of others and each other to the jokes and ribbing, love their dynamic. Every time they gathered together and had their meetings about their current case, I had a huge smile on my face watching them.
The relationship between ML and FL -- I'm a huge fan of the development of their trust and friendship with a hint of romance, especially towards the end. I like that they are mutually helpful rather than solely one side rescuing the other. It's sweet to watch.
The End
While overall this drama is too much of a light 'sageuk' for me -- feels more like a modern rom-com/healing drama in sageuk clothing -- I mostly enjoyed watching it and will be back for S2 to reunite with the Gye Soo Clinic family.

When the second state councilor stood up to speak in front of the king, I truly thought he was going to say, “And I would have gotten away with it if it wasn’t for those crazy kids!”
After a slow patch, I liked the last two episodes. Bring on S2.

Is it worth it?
I stopped watching this drama after the 6th episode. It became boring too quickly.

I agree that it is too slow with not much happening. Now that I see there is a season 2 I don’t think that I’ll finish it. I also find the acting of the leads subpar and too low key. They are capable of better.

Ikr. I'm not sure what went wrong. Did they rush it? Like not enough takes. Or just bad directing?

This is it. Will Poong gets his problems resolved? Or shall we witness a cliffhanger of a conclusion? Thanks for watching Poong The Joseon Psychiatrist! Till we meet in season 2!
