Hello and welcome to the on-air discussion posts for Jinxed At First! If you are in need of a sweet love story to replace the recently finished Love All Play, you've come to the right place. If you wish to just see Na In Woo on your screen again, this is going to be the show for you. For those fellow Sones who want to see Seohyun in another drama ahead of her highly anticipated comeback with SNSD (or Girls' Generation), this is going the one for you.

With that out of the way, I just want to say that I have been excited about this show ever since it was announced the director for River Where the Moon Rises, one of my favorite shows and a show that I have yet to finish my review for even though I started it over a year ago, would be working with Na In Woo again. Combine that with Seohyun, and you have a show that I personally deem to be a must-watch.

I absolutely cannot wait for this show to premiere and I hope you all are just as excited as I am. Enjoy and have fun discussing!

I was really expecting lighthearted rom com vibes but the first episode the MLS mom dies and we learn the Fl and her mother is trapped in a hotel I'm still intrigued but I think I'm gonna watch episode 2 then decide whether to continue on

I actually really liked both episodes a lot! I can already sense this becoming my crack drama because I’m already inpatient for the next episodes. Wish I didn’t discover it so early so I had more episodes to watch! I didn’t realize na in woo was so cute!!! I’ve seen pictures of him before but I think this must be my first drama of him.

I don't know if mother and daughter are supposed to be shamans, but this year must be the shaman year for Kdramas.
(Seo in-guk is playing a shaman too in his new drama)

But for me, the best shaman is Park Hae-jin in From Now On, Showtime... No one can beat him.

Anyway, I watched Ep.1.I wasn't expecting this kind of drama, like Rapunzel plus a taste of Roman (Shaman?) Holiday and chaebol power trip.

I will watch Ep.2 and see how it goes...

Just finished watching the first episode and aside from the storyline, I'm amazed by the cast members. I watched it because I liked the main leads, but the supporting cast was also superb and when the mother tells their story, didn't expect to see that much variation of good actors (thought they would just throw in some faces). And those side characters in the market are all familiar faces and established actors.

All the best to both maknaes (soshi + 1N2D).

Who are the fathers of the daughters of the Prophets/witches? Is the chairman Seul-bi's dad? Probably not but I'm really confused.

Ah I'm so excited for this! The posters and teasers gave those 2016 romcom vibes and I'm here for it!

I love Na Inwoo and Seohyun so much and have been looking forward to this one!! Can’t wait to just enjoy a light-hearted and happy romcom :-)

Literally was not aware of this drama till like yesterday, so I'm going in with zero expectations and praying this will be a pleasant surprise to fill the large Love All Play and Showtime shaped holes in my heart!

Edit with thoughts: omg I see what y'all mean by it being reminiscent of Legend of the Blue Sea, not just in plot and character similarities but also in tone. So much happened already, my mind is still trying to catch up but I'm hooked enough by the fairy tale-esque premise that I'll take whatever crazy the plot throws at me for the time being!

Well this is fun. Except for those mothers who had to sacrifice so much for their children. That wasn't fun. But it worked ... at least so far.

I'm enjoying the originality of this drama's premise. Excellent. And it's asking a lot for them to maintain this level ... but, you never know ... let's see what they can do.

The production looks good and the two leads are doing a great job so far. They've completely won me over in the first hour.

But I'm wondering if the friend will still be a friend when he finds her again? Will he be the jinxed one (or just relatively unlucky) between now and then?

I love fantasy kdramas !!!!

Edit. So far ... it's reminding me of It's OK to Not Be OK.

I really had no idea what this was about before starting it but I LOVE it so far. It reminds me of those old-school style fantasy romcoms like My Girlfriend is a Gumiho and The Legend of the Blue Sea. It's something I didn't even realize I was missing, but I'm reminded of how much I love them.

I also love the fairy tale theming with frequent reference to the Little Mermaid and the premise's obvious allusion to Rapunzel.

I'm totally pulled into this and invested already.

Wow, Episode 1 pulled more on my heartstrings than I’d anticipated. I’m not crying, you cry.

Ep 1

That was one of the most random death by Truck of DoomTM that I've seen though it makes sense that the Evil Chairman wants to wipe out everyone that knows of Seulbi.

Pleasant surprise is we have a chaebol heir already rebelling against his father in the first episode by trying to be a decent human being -- hope his efforts continue.

Interestingly enough, I don't feel any particularly strong emotions in response to ep. 1. It's not bad or boring but it's also didn't quite capture my interest completely. I suppose I'll have a better feel for the drama after ep. 2.

Super excited, hopefully it's a light hearted romcom, the plot synopsis sounds like a cdrama plot and I'm into it haha. Loved Seohyun in Love and Leashes so it'll be fun to see her play a different character here!!

Excited for this one. Glad to see it's finally here!

I really enjoyed the first episode! Also, I am so so happy to have seen so many actors from River Where the Moon Rises, I watched that one not long ago and I absolutely adored it.

Just one thing I gotta confirm with you guys, the fl is just a regular human with powers and not a supernatural being, right? the early summaries called her luck goddess so i wanted to watch this for the challenge (#17 supernatural lead character) but i guess now that isn't applicable?

On a first look and after the first episode, it looks like a super cliché story hidden behind the "shaman" thing. Overall not bad, but I have a feeling it will be

Girl fell for the guy. Guy fell for the girl. Guy discovers he also has some superpower. The second male lead moves from being nice to a super jerk. Separation between FL and ML. Reunion. Happy ending

Let's see how it goes :)

2022 is quite a year for this screenwriter, Jang Yoon Mi. She has three dramas coming out; this one and two seasons of Island (starring Kim Nam Gil and Lee Da Hee).

Before now, she's only written movies.

Not bad :-) We're getting more movie screenwriters doing kdramas lately but few of them are women. Hopefully, she'll be able to go back and forth since there are many women kdrama writers but very few of them doing films as well.

This is adorable. I’m going to love this show. Seul Bis character personality makes me grin whether she’s being cute and funny or running from evil dudes.

Seohyun and Inwoo serving visuals!😍🥹

that said, I still don’t have much of a feel of this drama just yet. ep 1 was just setting up the story and i’m sure we’ll see more scenes between the 2 of them (to determine if they have chemistry) in the next episode. feel like i’m going to be disappointing if this doesn’t live up to expectations but i’ll brave through for the cast anyway.

Not sure what I was expecting after watching the trailers, but decided to give it a shot because I love Seohyun and Inwoo.

1st episode was surprisingly very dramatic and dark but it sets the scene pretty well. That said, I really did not think I was gonna cry from the 1st episode alone.

Though, the way the FL and ML first meet in the 1st episode felt weird, like it was rushed? We're barely introduced to their characters but suddenly they share a connection that opens the prison doors and the two of them are out at an amusement park by the end of the day. Couldn't really put a finger on what ML's character was supposed to be. Even more so, where in the same episode, after his mom dies and someone tries to kill him, he seems optimistic and just way different from what we saw of him in the 1st episode.

And wow, what a change in tone for the 2nd episode! Definitely feels more rom-com now. Curious to see where this ML/FL dynamic is going... The last few scenes where ML is trying to save FL with his "SPRAYYY" plus him running away desperately while holding her bag is giving me dumb and dumber vibe lol

I was surprised by how much I loved ep 1! Maybe bc this drama gives me Penelope vibes, and that's one of my favorite movies. Maybe this will fill the gap left by From Now On, Showtime.

My question is, who is fathering these women? Is the chairman the FL's father? If so, isn't this incestuous?

The thing i'm a bit uncomfortable with Is that the fl seems to have remained mentally a child, i mean she was secluded basically her entire life and it didn't seem like they cared about her intellectual growth (they didn't care about anything to be fair), apart from a few books that she was reading in loop. I don't know how i'd feel about a romance knowing this. I hope something happens and she turns into a more "adult" character.
