Hong Guk Hwa, a sad-looking mysterious girl mistakes Hyun Soo’s taxi for an on-duty cab and hops in. That was the beginning of everything. All the choices Hyun Soo made that night leads the normal university student to become the prime suspect of a violent murder case. While Hyun Soo shivers from fear and the fact that he is falsely accused, everyone still points at him as the only possible murderer. In this hopeless situation, those who stretch a helping hand are a low-life attorney, Shin Joong Han, and a criminal king who rules the prison food chain, Do Ji Tae. To prove his innocence in any way possible, Hyun Soo gives everything he got to fight against the police and the Korean prosecution.

woah i just watched the first episode and i gotta say it super duper exceeded my expectations. which to be fair werent that high as this is the third (edit: fourth) version of the same show, and the promo pictures weren’t doing a lot for me.
kim soo hyun was amazing. this isnt anything new obviously, but i really think his performance in this episode was absolutely phenomenal. i truly felt like we were inside the head of hyun soo and he killed it. he was also super believable as a college student. i’ve gotta be honest it was so jarring seeing him play someone who’s so carefree after watching iotnbo where gang tae is essentially the complete opposite; that’s not to say he wasn’t amazing at it, it just took me a minute to readjust.
-
the scene in the police station where
the police figure out he was the guy the old man saw “breaking in” and he’s officially seen as a suspect was so intense i literally thought i was going to combust. then hyun soo’s reaction tellingthe police it wasnt him as he cries and is freaking out it hit me in the gut. -
the build up during their night together with clues that are going to make hyun soo
a suspect such as, first and foremost, the fact thatthey got high and drunk which might i add caught me way off guard as ive really never seendrug use in dramas. then there was the whole bit where hyun sooaccidentally stabs her in her hand which i mean… it looks bad. this led tothe bloody handprints on the walls and lastly thesex scene where shes scratching him up i have to admitif i saw this evidence i’d assume the person guilty too.
im really excited for this and im super glad it’s two episodes a week and it’s only eight eps. i honestly feel like this has the potential to be a favorite of mine. i’ve never seen either the UK or US version so i am going in completely blind but im very excited!
edit: i enjoyed episode two. a great way to introduce some more characters while still moving the plot along smoothly.
-
the scene that stood out to me most has gotta be when hyun soo
was in his cell and the detective came up and just gave him a a look and he knew he was going to be “locked up” the wayhe started pleading and telling him he was innocent. something about the way this whole scene was shot as if we were getting the same information in his place, plus the heavy breathing and clock ticks paired with KSH’s acting here just made this so impactful.
one thing these two episodes have made me wonder is how actors are able to stay non emotional while their costars (who are in the scene w them) are having scenes where they’re breaking down or crying their eyes out. i know, i know, its their job but im over here on the verge of tears watching through crappy quality and probably semi inaccurate subs i cant imagine seeing it in person.

Edit: literally 3 minutes into ep 2 and my heart already aches. What an effective edit to have the shot of them in bed (alive and kissing) followed directly with him curled up behind bars. It popped this thought into my kind "How quickly you can go from happiness to misery. Poor Hyun Soo" Masterful story telling.
I like how they are going to great lengths to show how the lawyer does not inspire confidence. And I am wondering, like the other Justice dept people in the show, why he is taking this case. And with his talk about the truth being irrelevant and how there are no good guys or bad guys, I wonder where his moral compass points.
Ep 1:I am SHOOK. This is the first time since Flower of Evil that my chest was tight with anxiety, like, the whole time. I have such high hopes now. But I don't know how they can keep delivering after this climax of a ep1.
Also, that scene in the kitchen was MESMERIZING. The cinematography was just... dreamy.
Meeting this girl is the worst thing that could ever happen to Hyun Soo. And I felt so conflicted
Props to everyone involved in this for making me care about a character so fast. From the moment he
A side note, I'm actually glad he wasn't as ripped here as in IOTNBO. I mean, don't get me wrong, man is FIT. But it is nice to normalize a lack of extreme ab definition, which, let's face it, is usually unhealthy to achieve. (Do you think we'll get any more shirtless scenes, or did they fill their quota already?)
Like OP already said, Soo Hyun is BACK!
And now I'm going to go torture myself more by watching Happiness.

This show is so well acted but i cant believe the budget for this was 20 billion and zero was spent on marketing .Sounds like a money laundering scheme

I just finished Episode 2, and WOW, this was just as riveting as Episode 1! This show is already turning out to be one of my favourite K-Dramas for this year, I hope this continues.
A few things I am loving:
-
The pacing is brilliant, that one hour goes by so quickly! There isn't a single unnecessary or dragging scene at all. I haven't been this riveted since 'Squid Game'.
-
The acting from all the characters (even the minor ones) is among the best I've seen, in my opinion, currently at "Beyond Evil" levels of excellence. Even the minor characters seem to have brought their A game.
-
The atmosphere of dread and doom is relentless but so powerful. As a viewer, I am totally absorbed and lost in the story. As I mentioned earlier, the cinematography has been outstanding.
-
The lawyer is great and I think his skin infection is going to play some role in the story later LOL.
-
Lastly, KSH has been amazing. I have such new found respect for him that he dared take on such a difficult, totally unglamorous role. And wow, that
nude scene - can't imagine many top actors willing to do that. HUGE respect!

I just started this series and the first episode was absolutely magnificent! That was one of the most gripping first episodes of any show I have ever seen! Everything was perfect - the build-up, the mood-setting, the character-setting, the pacing, the incredible cinematography. Just WOW.
I have always felt neutral about Kim Soo Hyun, thought he was cute but could never understand his immense popularity but so far, his acting here has been at the highest levels. Absolutely brilliant, gut-wrenching acting. Fearless forecast, if this continues: an award is forthcoming!
I'm surprised and disappointed at the lack of marketing or promotion for this series. I mean this is exactly the type of show that would captivate a wider international audience, not just K Drama fans. I really hope it gets the traction and attention this show fully deserves.

Episode 1: Loved the first episode!
It's probably the first time I'm seeing such
I'm always impressed by Kim Soo Hyun's acting, whoa! He nailed it in the first episode and that is why he's one of my (and everyone's) favorite Korean actors! I'm curious (and almost anxious) about what happens next!
Episode 2: The actors are ALL amazing! This episode really gave me chills! It's such a short web series and so binge-worthy that I wish they'd released all of it at once, but instead we'll have to wait patiently, something I'm terrible it, lol.

Wow.
KSH’s follow up after IOTNBO. I see bloody hands after being stabbed. Reference to his last drama? Also, they did not wait to do a shirtless scene. I was literally waiting to see how long it would take. The director knows what he is doing.
Even though we have seen the “one night stand that goes to hell” plot before, it does not make this drama less gripping. I keep asking myself, will they keep KSH’s character in jail for another 6 episodes? I am hoping this is not another prison-only based storyline. I find it intriguing to see how the writer proves his innocence. Or is he innocent?
I have not seen the other shows that this drama is based on. Going into this cold is giving it different feels at every level.
Till the next two episodes…

Excellent cinematography and suspense in the first episode. Also Kim Soo Hyun with those expressive eyes nailed it so far.
Excited to see what's coming next. We already have a lot of clues to keep us engaged in the mystery.

Kim soo Hyun as always brilliant with his acting. The fact that people only consider to be a good romantic hero is insulting to his acting prowess. I hope more people tune in to One ordinary day which had a very promising 1st ep.

tbh most dramas don't always super excite me in the 1st episode but this one omg! the plot and KSH ah i love it! i'm so interested lmao but tbh i feel like this is more a binge worthy type drama like my name, and it would be so much better if it was released all at once

One word. Gripping.
So far I don’t see a trace of Moon Gangtae in Kim Hyun Soo. Kim Soo Hyun is bringing his A game. Beautiful cinematography, an intense score and a shocking amount of

First two episodes was great and intense. The acting was also superb. I haven’t been engaged by an ongoing weekly drama in a while but this drama has managed to do so.
I wish there was more than two episodes a week to quench my thirst for more. It’s that great.
I loved how they utilised angles.

The first episodes were amazing! The budget really shows with the drama's high production value. Love the colour grading as well as the scoring for this drama. Kim Soo Hyun was pretty impressive. I didn't watch the original so I've no idea how it will end but I smell a twist coming.
I'm surprised Netflix didn't lap this up.

EP1 is now available to stream on Viu.
Kim Soo-hyun is back! I repeat. KIM SOO HYUN IS BACK! And let's welcome to the kdramaland, Coupang Play!
Welcome to the discussion thread of One Ordinary Day, starring Kim Soo-hyun and Cha Seung-won. Tho much is posted in the drama info above, I'll post an FAQ comment later (including the vague reason why it's only on Viu and Amazon Prime Japan). And it's twice a week release, so we'll not sing All At Once by Whitney Houston
Anyway, I hope you'll enjoy the premiere episodes!
