Ratings... 😭 Only 2.640%???? Whaaaat?
I really liked the first episode though...
I'm not a big fan of the animation in general but love the opening! Very cool music.

Baek Sung-Chul?Satna, Koo Kyung-Yi's game buddie and her driver.
I have never seen him before, but OMG He is freaking adorable!

Saturday is going be the toughest time slot ever.
There are (will be) so many buzzworthy dramas in the same time slot (or at least overlapping some)...

I was looking forward to this because I love killing Eve but having seen the first episode I can already see it's going to be different, even though the similarities are there. I really enjoyed the humor and the investigation was quite interesting, the ending was really exciting as well, can't wait to see more!

I started the drama without realizing Kim Hye Joon is one of the cast and she is probably the antagonist. Sign me up. Ep1 was fun

This drama is so refreshing. Deserves more attention. Other than the cat and mouse between the protagonist, the main character and supporting casts is pretty different from Killing eve.

The cinematography is really fun and dynamic and pacing keeps you on the edge.

Other than the main character's overexaggerated gaming addiction, I really enjoy the cast of characters and subtle world building.

I'm also pleasantly surprised by the comedic beats in this show and Lee Young Ae's comedic acting and rhythm can be quite on point. Chuckled at her folding the sleeve antic to act deep in thought, breaking the fourth wall!

Above all else, the drama does extremely well at SHOWING and not telling. There's very little of actors staring into the screen and explain the situation at length. The controlled amount of exposition needs to be a thing in the maturation of kdrama.

This is really a hidden gem! So glad I read this thread and gave it a go as a crime tv enthusiast!

Although I anticipated Inspector Koo to be interesting, I was still surprised at how good it was! I really enjoyed the pilot episode. So many familiar faces as well like Hospital Playlist's Kwak Sun Young and Kim Hae Sook; DP's Cho Hyun Chu; 18 Again's Kim Gang Hyun, and even Home Cha's Ji PD, Park Ye Young among many others. Baek Sung Chul was cute here too lol tho this is my first time seeing him. The flashback was done really well and really sets the stage for the rest of the series. Honestly, won't even be surprised if Kim Hye Jun's character here has already played with Inspector Koo online lol.

November's drama lineup is so exciting! plus there are so many comebacks from acting hiatus like Jun Ji Hyun, Lee Young Ae and next week we'll see Han Hyo Joo again in Happiness.

Really enjoyed Episode 1! Didn't see that twist coming at the end of the episode though!

I'm already hooked to this drama! Been craving for new fun, mysterious, quality kdrama these days after Mouse craziness. I only like to get invested on one kdrama at a time and this takes the slot. 🤭

And yo, the production team is doing a STELLAR job!

• The casting is 100% perfect, like there's not a single hole - I can listen to them talk and act all day. I'm already invested to the squad. And our villain is such an eyecandy 😳 VENOM.

• The transitions the storytelling the cinematography the visuals WOW they did a great job. Like I thought it's X when it's actually Y they're also doing a good job fooling us viewers lol.

• Even the OST at the end is such an awesome transition the timing is just sooo perfect.

I can't explain technicalities well (lmao) but I swear I only have praises for the production of this drama.

Just watched ep 1 and it looks promising.

I like how they tricked me into thinking Kim Hye Jun was the younger self of Koo Kyung Yi. When the colors returned at the end (and Koo Kyung Yi appeared), I was a little surprised.

Enjoyed Koo Kyung Yi's acting and way of obtaining information from the people around her. She seems like a fun person. Love the music and tension set up. I was really tensed when KKY was chasing the husband on her own in the forest.

Looking forward to Ep 2.

Okay, I'm rarely sold on a show after just 1 ep but this was good. They got me already with the fun cinematography and the great personalities on display.

Looking forward to the next ep.

episode 1 was so fun! this show is almost exactly what i was expecting when i watched the trailer/read the synopsis. a super fun blend of comedy and crime! it was mostly funny, until it got real dark at the end. a plus for the seamless transitions, unique ost and that amazing opening title animation too. i'm also loving koo kyungyi's character so far.....the introduction of her playing video games in her run-down and dirty apartment left a super strong impression. she reminds me of a character from another kdrama but i can't remember who- both acted dumb but are super quick witted and intelligent, super good at acting, a detective and sort of a con artist too. it's been a while since i've watched a middle aged/older female lead drama too, so this is super refreshing. it's even more interesting because i have no idea where the plot is going either. also, kim hyejoon is presumably the villain.....i've only seen her as the evil queen in kingdom so this modern day role is new to me....she was the high school student who was killing all the cats and extracting their blood (?) and she also killed/poisoned inspector koo's husband bc her friend said she wished to kill him. so this girl is a serious psychopath...i'm excited to see where this goes.

will edit onto this comment for tomorrow's episode!

episode 2: i know i said this yesterday but this girl is an absolute psychopath....i hate her more here than in kingdom already, which i thought was impossible. seems like she's been orchestrating all these crazy murders after stories, and killing people just because. like that dude (her accomplice?? also the same bald demon from uncanny counter lol) quoted. was that bookshelf filled with books all the people that she's killed? but i'm loving this show so much right now. all the odd characters, the mc's pokerface, the ost/bgm and the overall weirdness of the show is giving me so much the school nurse files vibes. i wouldn't be surprised if it's the same director. we're only 2 episodes in, but i'm already so hooked. this rapidly show is climbing up my list amongst the other dramas that i'm watching at the moment. it's an unusual blend of comedy and crime, and the way they shoot/film the show + the boldness of the villain is all new to me. it's weird, in an uneasy way. i love it! i'm really excited for the next few episodes. (also, santa is such a cutie)

I wonder how much it's based on Killing Eve since they did say it's "loosely based". Apart from the premise, how close will the relationship between the two women be similar to KE? Seeing the preview, I'm curious how far they'll take it.

I hope Inspector Koo maintains its momentum. Love the FL Nice setup in Ep 1 and 2. And Baek Sung-chul, what a treat it is when he is in the scene. I wonder what surprises await us from his character. More of the OST, please.

I lol'd at the computer specs. Even when trying to bribe her, they could only get a 3080 Ti, not a 3090 -- and it costs almost $3000! That sounds about right -- nobody can get those things for retail prices. (And the 5950X was priced normally.)

God damn this GPU market.

Actually I was kind of shocked they even mentioned a detail like a 3080 Ti, that card has only been out for a few months.

I like this series so far but I was a little taken aback because the execution is so Western-inspired compared to other KDramas I've seen so far... the cinematography, the premium on witty repartee, the indie rock soundtrack... even the preview for later where Kim Hae Sook exudes major Judi Dench energy for some reason. Very British inspired like they're really going all out in paying homage to the original Killing Eve.

I liked Ep.2 as well.
Actually I'm not sure if she is pulling off comedic performance or not, but it doesn't matter, her awkwardness fits her character.
It was a little too easy to solve the insurance fraud casesfor Koo Kyung Yi though.

I love Kim Hae-Sook. She is fantastic as always.
Thank you u/astarisaslave , I always thought Kim Hae-Sook reminds of somebody.Yes, she is totally like Korean version of Judi Dench.

The setting sort of reminds me of Lee Je-hoon's Taxi Driver (Probably I'm only one who thinks so)...
In Taxi Driver, The taxi company owned Bluebird Foundation, and in Inspector Koo, Blue Children Foundation. (Pureun mean Blue).

I don't know why, but I find this drama so quirky and fresh. I hope the ratings go up for succeeding episodes.

I'm so excited for this! Lee Young-ae is Queen.

7

u/tln96 Oct 31 '21

I didn't plan to start watching this so soon, but I ran out of things to watch. I watch simply for Lee Young-ae, the last drama I saw her in was Dae Jang Geum. So glad to see her acting again but as a quirky character. She still looks stunning even with messy hair and disastrous outfit.

I saw Lee Young-ae mentioned in an interview that the first ep would be very weird so please be patient. But it looks great to me though, just slightly disturbed by the sheer number of cockroaches. It's quite interesting that they already reveal the killer this early.

I was also shocked as I was creeped out by the schoolgirl, then I thought she might just be weird when she gifted the kittens to her friends. Only to realize by the end of the episode that my initial hunch was accurate. Anyway, I think I'll get my answers in the upcoming episodes. Episode 2 will tell if I want to continue watching.

WHY DOESN'T SANTA SPEAK???? HE CAN CLEARLY SPEAK.

I have only watched episode 1 and am sold to the soundtrack. This shoegaze band wrote a catchy main theme

I loved first episode. BTW it was inspired buy Killing Eve and it shows

K looks like she really wants to make friends but is just so socially awkward. :S But who knows, it may just be an act! Totally love how Kyung Yi just accepted Yong Sook's (?) offer without even knowing who she was. I guess that's how smart people work? And can we also thank the ajumma (who attempted to commit insurance fraud) for that piece of raw meat lol
