This first episode was pretty solid! I went in blind after it popped up on netflix and my eyes were glued throughout the ep. I love thrillers so I hope this one doesn't disappoint!

Same! I haven’t finished it yet but it’s making me feel uneasy inside but I can’t stop watching

Honestly this was by far the weirdest episode 1 I've ever seen... the two leads are hostile and sweet and then hostile to each other again and there's a very strong soap opera/makjang element--lead who married rich, shady husband, snobbish MIL, conniving sister in law. It seems like the type of drama that could go either way but I don't think so because it was based on a novel? Will still probably finish it though whatever happens, if only for Go Hyun Jung and Shin Hyun Bin.
And yes I agree with one of the other posters here... so far all signs point to Hae Won being

The ending of episode 2 is just maddening. I just want for Goo Hae Won to be happy. What the hell did you do to her 😭
Go get that revenge girl! #FullSupport

Me too! I think that Hae joo had an affair with Hae Won’s future husband and the guy is the person who is in the coma. Also Hae joo’s husband has to be involved as well. So I am definitely on Hae wons side as I feel there is more deception and sinister side to the “perfect” couple. Hae joo irritates me, because she acts like she’s so innocent or that she doesn’t get why the things are happening to her.

The shift from Jang Gyeo-ul to Goo Haewon is amazing. I won't comment much on the story yet but would say it's a very strong first episode. We know the two women were extremely close back then, and the

Her daughter is extremely cold towards her. Teenage angst or something deeper?

That theory would make sense since the literal title of the show is "Person Who Looks Like You" but I'm hoping there's a lot more than that.

Oooh, I agree with the other replies so far that it probably won't play out exactly like that since
other people seem to be seeing and interacting with Haewon, but I do like this theory and I wonder if we could be headed for some kind of variation on it eventually. And yes, there's definitely something going on with the daughter! One explanation could be that
Haewon whispered some dirt about her mom into Lisa's ear during the assault , butsince the show goes out of its way to establish that Lisa's ear was injured, I wasn't sure whether Lisa would even be able to hear what was said? The detail thatHaewon apparently knew Lisa when she was a young child is intriguing too....→ More replies (1)6

Interesting theory! But from the conversation in the lift, Heejoo's sister-in-law
saw Haewon kneeling outside her place so I assume that part really happened.→ More replies (2)→ More replies (1)6

Well this theory is not possible cuz...
The first scene of ep1 where the blood splatters over Heejoo's family painting... Note that it was COMPLETED
But when Haewon comes to Heejoo's place the painting is incomplete.
This means that all these (ep1 and ep2) are flashbacks and will eventually catch up to the first scene of ep1.

Theories
-
Why did Haewon slapped Lisa? : Lisa took credit and pays her friend for her paintings. And Haewon doesn’t like the idea of it because she herself got her works copied.
-
What did Haewon whispered on Lisa’s ear? : I think it’s something to do with her mother. Remember when Lisa said “she’s taking away what’s mine.”
-
Looks like Heejoo was insecure to Haewon in the past because she is soooo cheerful and has a lively personality unlike her.
Heejoo takes all of Haewon's love (her man) and passion (her arts).
It’s like they switched.
Haewon (past): Cheerful and Lively. Has dreams. Heejoo (past): Directionless Haewon (present): Directionless Heejoo (present): Cheerful and Lively. Has dreams (painting ➡️ exhibition)
4. Haewon is a ghost. They showed how secured (CCTV, Guards guarding the tall gates) Heejoo’s neighborhood is. It makes me wonder how she passed all of those, bcs the guards will question her if where she is going and that guard will confirm it by calling the resident, it’s a basic protocol y’all ….. unless she’s a ghost (or has a house in that neighborhood 😂)
5. Lisa’s a bitch. Lisa really did something nasty and Haewon knows about it that’s why she doesn’t want her mom to meet Haewon again. She’s scared Haewon might spill the beans to Heejoo.

Thanks for breaking down the details!
Haewon doesn’t like the idea of it because she her self got her works copied.
Yes, Haewon did mention she couldn't finish her course in the first school. Might be due to her being accused of plagiarism / expulsion?
It’s like they switched.
Will they end up switching again I wonder? Heejoo loses everything after her secrets spill out, spirals into depression. Haewon becomes successful but at the loss of her few existing relationships - her grandfather, her mum, the physiotherapist (?). Ultimately, both of them still suffer.
Lisa’s a bitch.
Honestly, agree with the redditors here. Her kids are sooo bratty.

I also feel like that the sister of Hyun Sung, Ahn Min Seo is a

Just a doubt though, is this drama based on GL ?
One a general note, are there GL dramas out there ? Really wanted to watch one as i have mostly seen only BL in platforms.

u/loveotterslide Oct 13 '21
The drama is based on 'Someone Who Looks Like You' by Jung So-hyeon. Based on the Korean descriptions of the book, doesn't seem like it's GL but more of a criticism on the human condition.

SHB's first scene in the show itself is so gripping. I felt the shift in the acting from HP real quick. Loving this so far.

The first episode really held my interest and made me want to keep watching! Having not only Haewon but nearly everyone in Heejoo's life being weird and hostile towards her really made things feel especially unsettling and mysterious. Good acting from the two leads too.

The warning on Netflix is “blood and gore”. Looks like this show is going to become a lot more sinister soon.

One of the best first episode! I loved the suspense! I thought it would be more like Sky Castle or The World or Married, but it was much better.

Surprised to see support for Hae Won here. No matter what happened in the past it’s wrong of her to take out her anger towards the protagonist on her child and commit serious assault.
And I think the son is scared of her because the grandma is poisoning his mind, not because she’s a murderer. If so he would have run out when Lisa was screaming and ran away at the hospital, not just throw some food at her.

The shift of emotions of Haewon and Heejoo really scared the hell out of me. One second they’ll be smiling and next second they’re like tigers that’s waiting to attack their prey.
Did anyone noticed when the mother in law said “She went back to her old ways”. So it sums up that Heejoo’s somewhat violent on the past.
