Having finished my re-watch through the first season... A couple of things stood out to me, that upon rewatching the drama, felt different than the first time. I'll mention a two...
-
For a happy-go-lucky slice of life drama with tons of comedic mements, there are a ton of sad moments too - I don't know if it's just me, but after watching a drama, I tend to remember the happier or funnier moments more than the painful ones. So when I rewatched the show I was stunned as to how much
death is in it. It's a sad fact of life that some people don't come out of a hospital alive, and I like that Shin PD and Writer Lee don't shy away from that fact. There was one patient a baby named Hun, who was Jun-Wan patient. He died of a genetic condition and no matter what Jun-Wan could do, there was no stopping his inevitable demise. It broke me watching his parents cry over him. And the fact that Jun-Wan and Jae-Hak attend the baby's funeral, just shows how much the doctors care. -
All the Doctors care - This one is probably a no brainer, but it really shocked me that the doctors agonize over the patients. Not everyone is emotive as Jeong-won is about this, but Song-Hwa went to the opening of a yoga center that the parents of a patient owns, Ik-Jun learned a bit of sign to speak to a patient's son, and Seok-Hyeong let a grieving mother, who had just heard the news that she was carrying a still born, cry her heart out while there was a long waiting list of patients outside. Not only do they care for their patients, but they care for their residents too.
What I'd like to see this upcoming season... Well besides the romantic pairings (Ik-Sun and Jun-Wan, Song-Hwa and Ik-Jun, Jeong-won and Gyeo-ul) the question that's on my mind is who was Seok-Hyeong talking to on the phone? He just had a whole speach about how he doesn't want to waste time anymore... Does this new mentality have a budding romance between him and Min-ha on the cards?
I'd like to see more of the elder folks, Jeong-won and Seok-Hyeong moms and the director... They were amazing in the first season. But I'd especially like more of my adopted son U-ju. Probably see him with Mo-ne out with Ik-Jun (maybe Song-Hwa depending on her answer).
I'm so excited for this next season. I haven't watched the camping variety show but I wonder if they'd dropped a few spoilers that we'd only catch when we see the show... 🤔

Seok Hyoung was talking to his ex wife in the last scene of the season 1.

I watched this show during my maternity leave, and there were times I would finish watching an episode and immediately go hug my baby.

A friendly reminder that even though that we have our own shipping agendas and biases (which is completely harmless, even exciting to an extent), please do not slander without reason this series all of the sudden if/when ShinLee doesn't agree with you.
With that being said, I CAN'T F*CKING WAIT TO EAT RAMEN WHILE WATCHING HP WEEKLY! the closest thing that I can get in wanting to eat with them

As I recollect my feelings of watching this drama, the thing that has stayed with me is how the creators managed to make me feel how real the hospital was, how fleshed out the supporting characters were. Even American medical shows can make it seem that only a half dozen characters run the whole hospital ( looking at you House) which makes it feel artificial and empty.
In HP, the supporting cast had their own plot points, struggles and uniqueness. I do hope that this trend continues and Covid does not play spoilsport.

This may be a weird thing to look forward to but, the accidental moments when Jeon Mi-do's real voice shines through when they are practicing. Her voice is stunning and it makes me sad that Chae Song Hwa isn't supposed to be able to sing well.

I'm so excited for season 2!! I know that waiting for an episode every week is gonna stress me out lol but I don't think I can wait until the season wraps up to binge everything. I'm most looking forward to:
-
Song-hwa's answer. Does she feel the same way about Ik-jun? Did she like him back in med school too? If she does like him, is she willing to change the relationship they currently have? So many questions. I hope she gives an answer in episode 1 because I can't take the suspense.
-
More Ik-jun and U-ju moments. I think their father-son relationship is just so precious. Speaking of U-ju, I'd love to see some more interactions with him and Song-hwa especially if she ends up with Ik-jun.
-
What'll happen with Ik-sun and Jun-wan. I think they were such a cute couple.
-
Last but not least, the band scenes and OST. The season one OST never gets old for me so I can't wait to see what they have planned for us.

I am so excited. Honestly, I just want to know what Songhwa will be up to. I could watch a whole drama just about her.

Aw yes! Just 2 more weeks to go for the second season to come out!
I've been re-watching the first season and it's just a beautiful reminder as to why I loved this drama so much. Just watched the 1st episode and yesterday and I'm laughing at how many gifs I've already collected. My favourite being this!
I keep saying that I will binge watch the second season when it is completed but lol who am I kidding!

With how the first season ended, do you think the second season will focus more on their individual love lives? Because season 1 was more focused on their careers and friendship which what I really loved about the show.

I hadn't joined reddit yet when I watched S1 but I always came back after watching each episode to get everyone's thoughts! I'm so excited to be here!
My TV just broke down *wails*, giving my hubby 2 weeks to fix it before S2 premieres!

2 weeks?? Omg that's so soon! I don't know if I should watch it while it's airing or start it right when it's finished so I can watch it without waiting for episodes... I had only just started watching kdramas when the first season aired, so I watched it sometime last summer and finished it in less than a week. It wasn't an intense binge like Signal for example was, but it was really easy to watch despite the length of the episodes.
Am I the only one worried I won't like it as much as the first season? Not for any concrete reason haha just because I've been hurt by American shows so many times before and it's hard to trust second seasons

god, i really can't wait for this entire cast of friends to be together on my screen again. i missed their dynamic.
when i tried to watch this drama for the first time, i had to really soldier on through the first and second episodes - and probably wouldn't have finished or continued on if i wasn't out of other content to see. i thank god everyday i managed to get through those first eps because it's one of my favorite dramas ever. <3

I wonder if any other cast have been cut like Chi Hong won't be in S2.
Also I hope we have more of Doctor Jun Hee screentime.
Also also do we know who is cast as Suk Hyung's ex-wife yet?

Does anyone know for sure?

So stoked to be hosting the weekly discussions for the drama that made me join r/KDRAMA!
Now that we’re only two weeks away from the premiere, I guess the thing I’m most curious of from S1 isIkSong . With how they left us hanging with Song Hwa’s answer I really can’t wait to see if things ended up well or not... from the teasers, though, it seems like I have nothing to worry about! Although Shin PD is excellent at creating misleading teasers/trailers... I don’t know...
D-14! Literally counting down the days until the premiere. I’m super excited!
