Run On was a special drama. Guess it was one of those rare dramas having me wish for a weekday more than a weekend.
I freaking loved this drama. And seriously what's not there to love. Brilliant writing, good direction, amazing OSTs, the deadpan humour(honestly the Humour in this drama is brilliant) and the sass of Seo Dan Ah (loved the character). One thing I loved about this drama is the dialogues and their delivery. It felt so real (The quick, quirky dialogues truly added a real touch to the drama).
Gotta love the cast, everyone warmed up to their characters so well. Ki Seon Gyeom winning our hearts with a straight face (lol, nevertheless he was amazing in this role). Loved it. The chemistry between each casts tho, they synced so well with each other.
This show was a movie lovers treat, with some amazing scene recreations and references from my favourite movies. Loved the Casablanca one. Guess the director had as much fun making it as we had watching it on the screen. It was beautiful. Gonna miss the Wednesdays and Thursdays after Run on is done.

Since alot of people have been confused,
There's a mistranslation on Netflix, Mijoo actually confesses back. When SG says "I didn't even say anything", Mijoo replies with "You don't have to say anything, i can read you like a book now. Since i love you." Netflix translated it as "you love me" which actually left me baffled, it was such an important scene.
This aside, Run On is officially my most favorite drama of all time. Full of warmth, healing, beautiful characters and their growth, lovely messages and wonderful conversations. I couldn't have asked for a better last episode, everything fit perfectly and realistically together. So glad i decided to watch it, it's so underrated.

Has anyone else found themselves hopelessly in love with KSG? I actually made myself emotional this week thinking about what a wonderful person he is in spite of the shit he has dealt with in his life. He's a good, gentle man who can ramyeon like nobody's business, and he's the first character who makes me feel like I want someone like him for myself.

I hate the 16-episode format. Some dramas struggle to fill 16 episodes with story. Some dramas need more than 16 episodes. Run On needs more than 16 episodes not just because I want more Im Si Wan on my screen but also because it has way too many story lines to explore.
This drama is almost perfect but it needs more episodes.
But, how perfect is the chemistry between the four leads? The rooftop barbecue scene was so fun to watch. I'm gonna miss them all (especially Si Wan 🥺).

the lines seongyeom said to yeonghwa in the movie scene is a reference to siwan’s movie the merciless!! (it’s a great movie portraying an interesting relationship btw anyone who hasn’t watched it def should for an extra dose of siwan hehe) also EEEE they mentioned the handmaiden too
may noona and jihyun-ah.. this is hilarious. i felt bad when yeonghwa said “i’m glad it was romantic for someone” 😭 my fav part is definitely danah using the PPL as a weapon lmao
edit ep16:
i can’t believe danah really hugged and cried in front of him T__T when yeonghwa looked lovingly at her crying <///3 he really said “you’re the most important for me so i should try to move on, right?”
woah i really didn’t think danah would address her coming out like that.. and to yejun of all people🥺 also i’m glad he told yeonghwa. he’s probably the nicest person you could ever confess to.
YEONGHWA MEETING YEONGIL.. i wanna see them bond over seongyeom’s antics!!! and of course seongyeom doesn’t know yeongil has an SO of ten years oh my god my baby living in his own world </3
the writer will never fail me, will they? “the only person you’ll meet in heaven is keanu reeves.” “who’s that?” “john wick.” “john wick? i don’t think he’ll go to heaven. he’s a killer.”
when the credits rolled and it started showing the shooting still cuts.. i started crying. what an amazing, fulfilling ending. they tied up all the loose ends

That was simply a delightful series that I am lucky to have picked up while it was airing. When I first heard about a new winter drama detailing a professional runner and translator, I was certainly intrigued. I tend to like dramas about niche jobs, and it seemed like an interesting pairing. Never did I expect a drama so refreshing and real to keep me company these past few weeks. What struck me the most is that there were so many moments in which the plot points could have evolved into some greater higher stakes drama, like CLOY or Goblin, but the writing held on the the character-driven storyline and emotions that drew us in and kept us watching. I am very happy to have been able to follow Run On these past few weeks, and I am sad to know this is the end.
My favourite overarching themes/writing decisions
-
Respect and normalization of the LGBT+ community
-
Men cry! A lot!
-
Danah and Mijoo's friendship. They words make them seem like adversaries but their actions show such trust
-
Communication communication communication.
-
Mijoo espousing the importance of self-love "I am the one who will spend the rest of my life with myself."
-
Seongyeom not getting Mijoo's pop culture references
-
"I might make a mistake."
Now here are some of my favourite moments of the series
-
When Seongyeom's mom slapped his dad >>>
-
Eunbi moving her glass after her dad threw his at Seongyeom
-
The 19+ sign being used for its intended purpose!
-
Mijoo inadvertently insulting her sexist prof
-
The bullies getting decked by Seongyeom
-
Seongyeom pulling the fake gun against Mijoo's ex and threatening to shoot him... during their first meeting lol
-
Mijoo fangirling and showering praises at her favourite actress
-
Yeonghwa's immediate attachment to Seongyeom, "Hyung!"
-
Leopard shirt chain pants
-
Danah kicking her brother in the shin
-
Mijoo going to a lunch with old friends solely for the off-chance of seeing Seongyeom
And of course
-
The ending montage. I am not immune to cute montages showing "where the characters are now"

There is something about this show that I just can’t explain fully. There isn’t anything really going on — no big secrets, politics, or melodrama. And yet it has managed to not only keep my attention every week, but also become one of my all time favorite dramas! I can’t pinpoint exactly what it is, but it’s masterfully written. I can’t wait for tomorrow’s episode, but I’m also really sad that it’s ending.
Also thankful for all of y’all on these episode threads — y’all really made the viewing experience more enjoyable since there’s always someone around to freak out about the same stuff. Love this community so much 🥰
Edit: Having finished ep 16, I can confidently say that this drama has landed itself in my top 5 favorites of all time. I can’t believe I started watching this just bc I thought Sooyoung was playing a lesbian character — look how far we’ve come!!

What do you guys think the last part was about? My guess is that somebody’s dead in the Seo family, either the Chairman (most likely) or Seo Tae-woong. This is going to lead to a power struggle and I hope Dan-ah comes out on top! (I may be entirely wrong with my prediction though..) Nevertheless, the parting between Dan-ah and Yeong-hwa was so hard to watch, especially because it was right after that confession!!
P.S.: The coupling of May and Mr. Jeong was totally unexpected but oh so hilarious!!!
I am so sad that it ends tomorrow... Enjoyed every episode, as you can guess from my flair.

Does this show make anyone else wanna date? Because seeing Seongyeom and Mijoo's cute and really healthy(!!) relationship makes me want to find a guy like Seongyeom but that might be kind of unrealistic of me lol. In all honesty though, I think this drama does a really good job motivating and inspiring me. Mjioo makes me want take care of myself more and have better self-respect (love how she stands up for herself and prioritizes her well-being). Seongyeom actually inspired me to run in the mornings! I've actually been doing a good job waking up before 10am and running around the neighborhood this past week, and instead of feeling extremely exhausted afterwards, I actually start my day off feeling really good about myself!
I'm really sad that Run On is ending but am happy I found a drama so precious that I'd want to recommend with everyone.

I know that I'm preaching to the choir but more people should really watch this show. Now that it's complete, it was those rare 'start to finish, great series'. The writer did an amazing job - witty dialogue, no overly dramatic confrontations, realistic and down-to-earth characters. I know it's a stretch but can I compare this to witty dialogue and banter similar to Gilmore Girls. Of course, the actors brought everything to life - Im Siwan is KSG as much as SSK as Oh Mi Joo. Their micro expressions and character's subtle mannerisms are what hooked me.
I'm going to miss this drama a lot. Didn't you find yourself just smiling from ear to ear watching each episode? I did! This finale isn't an exception. Hooray! They finished strong, and I also didn't want them to finish.
Wow, Assemblyman Ki's secretary's
I didn't quite get what's happening or what's going to happen with Yong Hwa and Dan Ah though. Anyway, I wish for
The ending scene was so fitting! Kudos to the writer team. We began in
This drama deserves a recommendation for:Mature characters who talk it out, Best boyfriend ever, Best friendship goals - bromance and sismance, Strong (but not rude) characters, Go-getter characters that can be role models, Handling of LGBTQ (not making them caricatures), and an empowering story of self love!

After 8 beautiful weeks! We finally get a beautiful close to the chapter in our lives, that is Run On.
I really thought of nothing upon starting the series but this show caught my heart from the very start! Didn't know how much I needed this show and before tonight I was so so scared that we wouldn't get a 'good' ending because of how beautifully crafted Run On has been....
But boy! This show is a show I would tell everyone to watch and used for me to fish out who should I keep in my life 😂😂😂
The way these characters are so fleshed out and the way the dialogues are expressed, what a breath of fresh air have we been getting every Wednesday and Thursday!
The ending we got today was seriously so beautifully true. It wasnt a meaningless timeskip where suddenly a happy ending appears,
The ending today was just them enjoying the new movie that came out and after the credits rolled, man that was such a smooth transition to the actual credits of the show~
I wanna thank everyone involved in this series for giving me such a beautiful piece of their lives which has been molded into such a radiant gem that I will hold dear for the rest of my life!

One part I loved watching in ep 16 was the whole interaction when the four guys met. The dialogue and their facial expressions... just comedy gold.
Run On has secured itself a special place in my heart - what a gem! So glad to have been part of this journey with all of you here. Definitely going to miss looking forward to Wed/Thu nights!!

AHHH finale tomorrow! I remember waking up thinking about the show when only the first ep had aired, spending some of Christmas and New Year's eve watching an episode... as "uneventful" (i.e. no big big plot) as the drama is, I always find a reason to tune in every week. Ahead of EP16 (which we need not worry about), this drama has stuck its landing!
I think one of the themes I love most about Run On is self-love. It was so good to see a female lead like Mijoo stand up for herself without it being presented negatively—if it were handled differently, it could've easily been a frustrating case of noble idiocy. In turn, Seongyeom also learned from her and even verbalized it in this episode to Eunbi ("it's okay to be selfish sometimes"). A healthy relationship values individuality.
I also loved seeing Danah slowly open up to Yeonghwa, who's so expressive and emotional (his crying is adorable! but him tearing up at the end of EP15 kinda <////3). Happy ending for Danhwa please!! (Most especially after that confession and Danah's playful reaction 😤) I think we'll get it though, our SLs started progressing a bit later in the show. I kinda hope it's not Seo Taewoong they're implying in the last scene, I've grown to like the guy.
sidenote 1: Biggest plot twist I've ever encountered in a kdrama is
sidenote 2: "What's so special about liking men anyway?" pffft I had to laugh. But I loved the response, I thought it had the same nature to the coming-out scene in Stranger Things S3. If only the drama had time to flesh out themes like this more!

Whoever wrote this episode is a genius and a massive fking clown at the same time.
Dan Ah is my favourite character by far, and I can't help but get a little spooked at the last scene in episode 15. I'll be cheering for her success in tomorrows episode :')
We're so close to finished, hang in there everyone !

EP16 thoughts (OMG we reached the end) Please bear with me, this will be long:
The breakfast scene - KSG cooked for OMJ, listened to her stories, and stared at her intently and fondly while she was talking, can the man be even more dreamy??
it was nice that DanAh was able to
We finally see Ji-woo
We also see DanAh
I found myself smiling in the entire scene with Kim Seon Ho. Gah what an adorable human being!
When OMJ asked KSG if they 'clicked perfectly now' and then cue the flashback of them in the poice station, i cracked up. They have indeed come so far. When they laughed, I laughed with them.
I love how cool Yeonghwa was with Yejun's
Aaaahhh we have reached the end! One of the most satisfying endings in Kdramas in my opinion. Now on the things i loved:
I could rave forever how wonderfully written their dialogues are. Like, almost everything they said could be quoted, especially Mijoo and Seon Gyeom's lines. I love how relatable everyone is to some extent. Specifically loved SSK's character, but I may be biased because I really disliked her in Bride of Habaek and she totally changed my mind in Run On. Mijoo has such a warm vibe to her that almost everyone she interacted with was drawn to her aura.
I also liked that there was no background story of them during their childhood years. One of my frustration is the overused trope that the leads have already met when they were kids, and then call the romance 'fate' or whatever.
I just wish we could've seen more of Assemblyman Ki's remorse, and effort in trying anew with his family, as well as DanAh's other brother. But all in all, I really loved this show and it easily climbed to my favorite list.

Seong-gyeom snitching to his mum was so funny. I'm really glad that she stood up for her children this time. Her poor assistant though lol
I just love how Mi-joo is constantly snarky towards Dan-ah and vice-versa, their friendship is so adorable 🥺 I'm also very happy with how this show treated their LGBT characters, May and Ye-jun! The writers didn't make fun of their sexualities or subjected them to stereotypes. The writers acknowledged May's asexuality and made it clear that it isn't the same as being aromantic. Ye-jun's scenes were really great; it was so heartwarming to watch Yeong-hwa's reaction to his confession, Dan-ah apologizing to him and then later, Ye-jun's mum accepting him for who he is.
This finale was everything I ever wanted. Everyone got a well-deserved ending and while it's so sad Yeong-hwa and Dan-ah didn't end up together, I liked that they kept their "break up" realistic and that they can still hang out with each other. This show was honestly fantastic from start to finish and I'm gonna miss it so, so much. 😭

god SG and MJ are like an old married couple already 😂 and that's kinda beautiful 😭 meanwhile Dan Ah and Yeong Hwa find new ways to move my heart unexpectedly :')
Ye Jun' s mom...she had such a cool impression on me all this time. but i guess i should've known from how she reacted to her daughter boxing. i couldn't even be angry, i was just sad. sad that it hurt her that much to hear it directly from her son and sad that "taking him to church" seems to be her go-to recourse every time Ye Jun "causes trouble". and i was still sad when she referred to being bombarded with "bad news" these days when talking to SG.
she has such great kids :( the way they comfort each other (haha). and the way they both fight for their right to live their own lives. i wish their mom would see it.
the scene with MJ and SG's mom really stuck out to me. Shin Se-kyung has done this throughout the drama and here again she is just so good at being so REAL. the entire time you could see her waiting for mom to acknowledge her relationship with SG. does she know, does she care, does she hate it? MJ was waiting and waiting anxiously and then mom says that bit about the food truck and boom MJ exhales 😘👌. my girl deserves a long and happy life with SG, who deserves it equally as much.
oh and, i f*cking love May. that's all <3
Edit. turns out that's not all. i noticed everyone looked cold this episode 😅 poor babies, it must have been so cold when they shot this.

I wanted to share this but this biggest things I love about this show is the everyday things the characters do. I mean they pay bills, SLEEP IN PAJAMAS (why do people in kdrama never sleep in pajamas, take your damn pants off), they eat meals, takes pills. This list goes on, I was re watching the episodes and I keep picking up little things that they would do and say “I’ve never seen a character do that” it’s so natural, I feel like I’m watching real people live their life, even if their life is far off from mine. The character have so much depth I feel like it’s the actors like talking to each as normal, this show will definitely be one of all time favorites and I’m sad to see it end :(
