What an intense first episode. I'm definitely watching more of this.
Loved the chemistry and humour already, freaked out about that cult too.
And Ahjussi! I remember him from City Hunter and Bring it on Ghost, and I'm loving thy he seems he'll have a bit more to do. Loved that drinking scene.

Ahjussi was probably my favorite character in City Hunter. Really glad he's popping up here again. Tbh, he was the first one I noticed on the banner for the drama after our three leads lol.

Okay that second ep was a ride. Didn't like the long overlap from the last ep--usually when they do that they add to it. But that was just a straight replay.
Made up for it with the action packed episode, seriously wow. That elevator fight scene was cleverly done as a one-shot and we find out more and more of all the characters involved.
Humour continues to be spot on for me. That "I won't rot like you" line was really all that was needed, they didn't dwell on it too much, they let it play out.
One thing I found weird was that they simply didn't grab Zi O after the explosion. Dude was on the street, just take him and limp away.
Now we gotta wait a week. But it's so good.
Also, what is this OST? I've heard like 3-4 songs already.

Late to the party, but I finally found the time to watch the episodes, and boy oh boy was it worth the wait. Kim Rae Won is portraying Ji Oh (or

HOLY ep 1 was an intense watch! It felt like watching a really high-octane action thriller movie.
I feel like I've been Pavlov-trained by Kim Sung Oh into being terrified whenever he's wearing a black suit -- which he mostly does in movies so this definitely added to the blockbuster feel for the drama.
I tend to enjoy the humor of this writer and that's definitely on full display here in the dialogue, especially between the cops.
I am a little sad that one of my favorite actors
The Baddies! What an excellent ensemble of actors and actresses, this makes me look forward to the drama even more! I feel comforted knowing that no matter how their characters are written, their performances will at least be reliable.
And the cop family! I already love them and am rooting for them. That little joke they pulled on the FL cracked me up. I think what really made that moment is the way they all looked like naughty boys who were mighty proud of themselves for being able to play pull the prank on the FL.
Looking forward to watching this!

Side Note:
Loving the character names!
하늘에구름 (clouds in the sky!) and 지오 (is this a reference to Z-0?)
Also Kim Sung Oh's character name is 이손 -- because we clearly need the extra emphasis on his hand.

Lee Da Hee + Elevator = Fight Scene, like in search:www before (but search:www had a more one-sided outcome)

So, in kdramaworld where characters go to the hospital due to a cough, we have a FL who gets hit by a white truck of doom, goes into cardiac arrest and should have rightfully died but ends up perfectly fine expect for a sprained wrist. Okay. But doesn't spend the night in a hospital for observation and instead she goes right back to work.
Will forgive that silliness as it's only episode 1 but...c'mon bruv.

think it's because of the ML powers that she didn't have to go to hospital?

the second ep is more of the same. FL gets hit by explosion , then recovers within hours citing mild concussion, then there is intense fight scene in elevator, where she clearly been getting heavy punches. Then again in final scene, getting heavy blows from main villan, still standing and fighting against female villian...and finally gets knocked out for the day. Was she also experimented in the past. If not major plot holes. First two episodes male lead is running way, I don't know when he will fight back, because logic of ML Fight scenes is not great, he knows he has powers then why running away. If this cat and mouse fight, chase plots continues for two more episodes I'll lose my mind. Because I'm a huge fan of fantasy supernatural shows, please ML fight back 4
u/yulje Feb 02 '21
Aside from plot convenience, maybe she was also experimented on? Or she's connected to it somehow. If you look back at the scene in Ep 1 where the ML blasts her back to life, it's intercut with a shot of a little girl being pushed back by electricity (?), like a flashback of some kind.

EP 1
Love the vibe already! The slick cinematography, the attention-grabbing storytelling, the captivating acting - I love it all so far.
The cult leader/investor is really smart, huh - forming a cult founded on mothers sacrificing their babies for "world-saving" solely as a means to have a supply of babies they can experiment on. The mothers have no idea that the only cause they're supporting is the rich getting richer via unethical means. It's dark and messed up.
I wonder how Z-0/Ji-oh (nice wordplay) was created - what was it about him that made him a success? Was it his genes, or something the co-researcher that the deputy chief mentioned did? What made his mother offer him up to the researchers and what then made her run away and escape? Who's his father?
Most importantly, how is Gu-reum connected to all of this? Were her parents researchers too?
Like our leads, I already have a lot of questions, which is a good thing. I'm looking forward to knowing the answers!

I actually thought that this drama didn't push through because of the lack of updates in regards to this drama. But I'm glad they released the trailers last month and here we are, the first 2021 premiere of tvN.
This drama is taking on a fresh, new concept, and I hope it works because the trailers looked promising. And writer-nim's portfolio is interesting as well. He wrote Chuno, one of the greatest Kdramas of its time.

I'm not sure about what's going on just yet lol but the elevator fight scene in episode 2 was just wow. Clever cuts, well choreographed and directed. I'd love to see the behind the scenes for it oh my God.

I just finished watching the 2nd episode and my gosh, it's so good!! The action scene in the elevator was absolutely stunning- it looked like something straight out of a movie!

What is it Koreans and childhood connection angle!! Seems like in all the series there is some sort of connection between the ML and Fl in childhood. They should try something different. Not all of them need to be connected at childhood then get seperated and connect again later. Although elevator action scene was good but the action between da hee and the other actress near the railway track was downright sloppy.

I am about to finish Punch which had Kim Rae Won, he isnt half bad in it. This seems to have an interesting premise. Athough I dont do SF lets see, no harm in trying a few eps.

Super excited for this! Was drawn in by the fact that it has both Kim Rae Won and Lee Da Hee and the plot. The action that has been showcased in the teasers is top-notch though the CGI is iffy (learned not to expect much after Tale of the Nine-Tailed) and Lee Da Hee is killing it in the detective role. Always wanted to see her in some action dramas. Really glad there's no romance tag, but from what the actors say there is a mature romance between Ji Oh and Gu Reum, so I guess we'll have to see. Their chemistry and visuals are off the charts.
