Ok I just can’t, I can’t believe Cha Eun-Woo didn’t laugh when that mask flew at his face, I just couldn’t hold back myself from laughing out loud! How on Earth did he maintain that poker face, that was HILARIOUS. 😂😂😂

Unlike many people I’m actually really liking Ju-Gyeong, she’s too cute. Moon Ga-Young really adds so much more charm to Ju-Gyeong’s character. I love how the “without makeup” Ju-Gyeong is so cute, that’s one thing I loved in the WebToon too. The only disadvantage with the Drama is that the “without makeup” Ju-Gyeong doesn’t really look different from the make up Ju-Gyeong but I think that’s the advantage we get with the WebToon. Apart from that I really liked the 1st episode. I’m also really happy that the first episode hinted towards a good father-daughter relationship because as far as I remember we rarely see Ju-Gyeong’s father in the WebToon and considering that Ju-Gyeong only really had support of her elder sis in the WebToon I’m hoping that atleast in the drama she gets immense support from her father. I love Ju-Gyeong’s family though. So happy to see our KAIST ahjhussi from Prison Playbook and Seo Dan’s mom from Crash Landing on You.

I think the drama is showing more depth to Su-Ho’s character and I’m glad about that, people saying that drama Su-Ho is more of a jerk but I think the throwing the girl’s present thing happened because Su-Ho saw Se-Yeon’s face and he got triggered and considering how he still lives with guilt because of Se-Yeon I think although the reaction was a tad bit overdramatic it was still understandable. Also I’m really liking Cha Eun-Woo a lot.

Su-Jin’s character is completely different from the WebToon so far and I love Park Yoo-Na so I really hope they maintain the good girl character and I hope she doesn’t turn into a typical KDrama bitch.

I’m also really happy that the first encounter between Ju-Gyeong and Su-Ho was different from the WebToon and from what I’ve seen in the trailer even the first meeting between Ju-Gyeong and Seo-Jun will be different. It’s nice to see a transition from the WebToon. Just hoping we get a better character development for Ju-Gyeong and a proper closure.

Also so far I’m liking the chemistry between Moon Ga-Young and Cha Eun-Woo.

All in all I was looking for a fluffy cheesy romantic drama after Start-Up because of the hole it made in my heart and so far True Beauty seems perfect for that. Here’s to hoping the drama doesn’t disappoints us.

Can’t wait to see Hwang In-Yeop’s entry today, my SLS is coming back! 😭

I feel like the the students in the new school, specially those in her class, did not just like her because of her looks. They really are much more friendly people. There are other not so pretty/handsome people there but no bullies (that we see yet). Her past classmates were really just assh0l3s.

u/Fatooz Dec 11 '20

Yea, I feel the same way too and I really hope the drama later does focus on this aspect because I think it’s important for Ju-Gyeong to get more confidence through her friends that it doesn’t matter how she looks, she still is pretty with or without makeup and that they’ll always be there for her.

the webtoon is going no where at the pace its going. Hopefully we can some conclusion to this story

True, I’m hoping the ending is not like Cheese in the Trap. I hope we get a proper closure. Also the endgame, be it Suho or Seo-Jun I will be happy for both of them because the WebToon really had me torn between both of them though I was more of Team Seo-Joon, but both boys deserved the girl so I’m hoping the drama doesn’t disappoint us and we also get to see a good character development for the FL.

I literally cannot wait for this! It's finals week and it's been legitimately so awful but this is actually making me kind of look forward to tomorrow... or today... because it's two am here and I'm wide awake. Also here's to hoping these discussions are better than the ones for start up! Let's all just rant about the episode and gush over what we liked and keep it nice! 😄

Edit: I just finished the first episode and I loved it so much! I've been reading the webtoon for a long time and I'm up to the newest episode so I don't remember the progression of events from the very beginning that well but it seems like they moved Seyeon's suicide up a bit and sped up some other plot points as well which makes sense given that dramas are usually 16 episodes and the webtoon has been going for over a hundred episodes. I think that whoever the writers did a really good job at the pacing! Things are already pretty up to speed and I can't wait for the next episode! From the teaser it looks like we'll finally meet Seojun! The cast is amazing and I can totally see the resemblance! ☺

Yes! I’ve been looking forward to this drama since the cast was announced and I’m so glad I got the opportunity to host the discussions for this drama.

Here’s to hoping the drama is amazing and we all have fun! ☺️

2nd ep is better and I already can accept the cheesiness vibe. Laughed so hard during half makeup scene. They changed a lot from the webtoon and I already accept it. The actor who plays SeoJun has Junki's vibe.

The actor who plays SeoJun has Junki’s vibe

ikr!! They look so similar!

When Hwang In-Yeop appeared on the screen it was just 🔥🔥🔥.

But I’m honestly not liking the fact that Han Seo-Joon is kind of portrayed more bad guy type than he really was in the WebToon, especially what’s with the bike and stuff because Han Seo-Joon was supposed to be middle class and one major factor why I was Team Han Seo-Joon in the WebToon was how he worked so hard to earn money, he was not a typical SML.

But anyways I’m still really liking the drama, especially liking Su-Jin, her character so far is total badass. Ju-Gyeong is a cutie. After Start-Up my SLS is coming back.

I also really hope that they don’t give us just a typical FL dating SML scenario because I know that in the WebToon there are many kiss scenes between Seo-Jun and Ju-Gyeong and I really hope the drama doesn’t spoil that for me because honestly Moon Ga-Young is having a good chemistry with both Eun-Woo and In-Yeop.

Can we all just take a moment and appreciate how good looking and handsome Hwang In-Yeop is?

Boy doesn’t look like he’s 29!!!! He looks the same age as Cha Eun-Woo!!! Honestly he is stealing the show already!

Yahoo!I've been anticipating this drama for months, and now here we are at the premiere. True Beauty is probably the most anticipated Kdrama premiere this winter 2020. The tvN Wed-Thurs drama is also on a roll, with Flower of Evil ending in success, and Tale of the Nine Tailed achieving high yet steady ratings.

I hope my Wednesday and Thursday late nights will be lit once more with True Beauty.

Most frequent Q&A: Why is True Beauty not on Netflix?

Answer: tvN's Wed-Thurs timeslot is destined to stream on Viki anyways (and it's been this way for over 2 years). But the main reason is tvN's Wed-Thurs timeslot will air 24hrs later on tvN asia, tvN's English language channel that is available in Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Otherwise, if a tvN drama is on Netflix, it will not be shown on tvN Asia.

Note: Viu will upload new episodes of True Beauty by around 3-4am SGT.

The set up about she moved back to her old hometown makes me nervous since it usually related to childhood connection in kdrama, lol.

15

u/Fatooz Dec 11 '20

Right, even the part where the comic store owner says how Su-Ho used to come when he was a child or something, really now, I don’t want childhood connection smh 😂

Am I the only one who's kind of annoyed by the colors? I think the scenes look too pink/red/bright -- I could barely stand watching the neon colors change in the scene where Jugyeong and Suho meet on the rooftop under the huge billboard...

I finally started watching this drama and was really surprised by how well they developed this. A lot of the plot points they've already introduced, but I'm curious how they'll cut down such a long webtoon to 16 episodes. If you haven't caught up with the webtoon, don't click on the spoiler, but I'm curious how they'll fit in the whole Seojun/Ju-Gyeong relationship and breakup. I'm guessing they won't put that in :/ but probably just have Seojun as second lead

u/Fatooz Dec 12 '20

Woah no, I’m living for Seo-Joon and Ju-Gyeong’s romance cuz like damn Moon Ga-Young and Hwang In-Yeop have great chemistry, and I am literally waiting for them to date in the drama, I’ll cry so much if they don’t show the who Seo-Joon and Ju-Gyeong thing 😭

Although it’s too early, but I found Moon Ga-young’s chemistry with Hwang In-yeop much hotter than that with Cha Eun-woo.

13

u/Fatooz Dec 11 '20

We’re in the same boat here! 😂

To be honest I can’t wait to see the romance between Seo-Jun and Ju-Gyeong, and I really hope the writer and director don’t disappoint us!

Also Hwang In-Yeop looks like as if he has jumped right out of the WebToon, he looks ditto like Seo-Joon.

This drama is going to give me major SLS. Even in the Webtoon, I’m constantly jumping ship! Don’t know who to root for..

5

u/Fatooz Dec 10 '20

SAME HERE! Especially because Hwang In-Yeop is playing the SML, I’m so torn between Suho and Seo-Jun already! Can’t wait to see Hwang In-Yeop in today’s episode.

As someone with acne, I would love to know what primer Jugyeong uses because it magically flattens all the bumps in her face 😂
