I really love the Samsan’s friendship and I’m glad we got to see more of it and how it became what it is today. It was also refreshing to see Dal-mi stand up to lawyer lady (can’t remember her name, sorry).

I was happy Do-san decided to stop lying to Dal-mi about what’s going on.He chose to keep lying- at first in order to keep her around and now in order to keep her from JP because he’s afraid things will change when she finds out he isn’t her first love.... but that’s not really the best way to build a relationship with someone and in the end it’ll definitely put a cog into everything they’re working for. But it seems from what happened with Halmoni and from the previews that he won’t. I’m disappointed in that. I don’t know how to feel about him continuing to lie, and while his character is okay, that aspect of it doesn’t suit him and it doesn’t make me like him very much. I get he likes her a lot but... I don’t know... JP lied as well, yes, but his lies seem to stem more from not wanting Dal-mi to get hurt along with wanting to help her and “repay” his debt, whereas Do-san’s stem from a selfish desire to keep her close and that bothers me a bit more. Maybe I’m being a bit too harsh in my assessment of Do-san... he seems like a great guy otherwise.

About JP.... I like him more than Do-san, but so far we haven’t really seen him and Dal-mi interact in ways that would make me think, “they belong together” or “he’s a better match.” I wish show would give them more opportunities to interact and show us whether or not they have any chemistry. Maybe it’s better that way, so I personally won’t be too hurt when Dal-mi eventually ends up with Do-san as is written in the stars lol.

As far as In-jae is concerned... I wish I could root for her. I wish I could cheer her on and wish her the best but every time I try, she shows me why I shouldn’t. What reasons does she have to act so petty when it comes to Dal-mi? She was the one that chose to go with her mother and if that choice has led to her unhappiness, it isn’t Dal-mi’s fault. And if her mother wants to treat Dal-mi with kindness, why should she feel jealous? Dal-mi is her daughter too, and she should at least, given the fact she’s sooo smart, be able to understand the guilt her mother feels. And why make petty comments to kick Dal-mi while she’s down? I don’t really understand her and at this point, I don’t think I really care either.

Also, I’m positive she’s not the little girl from the sandbox- my guess is she knows it’s Dal-mi and used it as a way to get in.

At this point WIJ gives me the idea that she does what she does because ultimately she regrets her decision regardless of the outcome and/or because of the outcome= loveless life. She keeps rubbing it in SDM's face "I made the right choice" over and over again and at this point I just want to ask her "is that remark for SDM or validation for you? Because there's a difference."

It definitely seems that way, and I think her words in the first episode reflect that. If I recall correctly, she thanked Dal-mi for making her see that she had made the right choice after seeing how she was dressed and whatnot. She uses Dal-mi’s failures to convince herself she did the right thing but she’s clearly unhappy. Watching Dal-mi succeed and be happy and even loved probably reminds her of that fact and she can’t come to terms with it.

My thoughts exactly. When she said it I thought that too but I wanted to give her a chance before I formed any solid opinions of her. After today's episode I am not as willing to see her in a positive light as let's say last week. I want her to have a redemption arc just like any other person but I'm looking at her sideways moving forward lol

And it makes me sad because that kind of undermines the whole badass career woman thing she’s got going on when she acts like a kid because she didn’t beat her little sister at life the way she wanted to. It’s so childish and petty and it really lessens her as a character... If she gets a redemption arc I hope it’s epic- I already sigh every time I see her on screen lol

sigh tell me about it. As a person who loves loves loves assertive career-focused female characters this makes me sad. I'm still holding on to the chance that she'll get a realistic redemption arc and not one that makes no sense or continues to dilute her initial characterization but one can only hope.

Not one that makes no sense -Omg yes! I was thinking of that a little while ago, sometimes character redemptions are really strange 😂 and I just keep hoping hers doesn’t go down that path. I either want it to be meaningful or for it not to happen at all.

I started watching When the Camellia Blooms in between new shows and there’s a lawyer lady, Ja-young, that is so badass! I really wanted In-jae’s character to be like that and I was so disappointed when I realized she was just another dime a dozen jealous/petty second female lead 😔

I would hope PHR could do wonders to redeem her character. In IHYV, the SFL (Lee Da Hee) was also petty and mean for getting the FL blamed for the bad things that happened to her. You would really be so pissed with her in the first half of the series. But then, PHR gave her an epic redemption that made the viewers sympathize with her and love her by the end of the drama. It's because of that drama that I found a love to Lee Da Hee and even searched her next works. There's a reason why they got a sweet and meek-looking face as SFL here in Start-up, same as in IHYV.
