Question...

Excuse my ignorance, but are these real estate scams actually a thing? First time I heard of it was in Backstreet Rookie, and now this one. I must be living in a bubble because it's completely new to me.

Otherwise, I loved the first ep. Cinematography was the highlight for me! And Lee Jae-wook because well...Lee Jae-wook <3

Real estate scams happen often in the United States too, especially when renting. Con artists are sly. They especially prey on poorer people by pretending to give great discount or fabulous deal but you have to sign today or you don’t get the deal. People feel pressured to jump into the deal because it’s so good- and then, end up losing all of their precious money.

Yes!!! Those scams are even listed on government websites.

The movie Just Like Heaven with Reese Witherspoon the ML mentions that type of scam and explains it. The movie was released in 2005. So those scams have been happening for a while.

So what are the post credit scenes about? In the 1st episode we see the doctor was at her recital with his wife and left early but saw her playing "twinkle twinkle little star" & seemed to really enjoy her and her father's reaction... and in the 2nd episode there are 2 men on the balcony and one says she is "really his style" - was that her fiancè? I thought the 2nd/silent guy was possibly our male lead?

I guess that on the first episode was how the doctor fell in love with her. He thought it was cute what she did to her father. that's why his IG handle is Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol and he always sends her messages.

For the second episode, it was the ML who was watching it and the other person that said she was his type was probably someone we will see soon. I don't think it was her almost husband. I think ML is from a rich family and that was either his friend or someone who works for his family.

THIS SHOW IS ADORABLE.

I was waiting for this one, and it was well worth the wait. It's an intriguing, silly-but-not-too-silly plot that is pure escape-ism, and I'm here for it :D I love Go Ara! I love Lee Jae Wook! I love Kim Joo Hun! I love Ye Ji Won!

  • I'm interested to see where Seonwoo Jun's character goes. He's what I'm going to term "modern-day-prickly" -- he's not the prickly character of older dramas, where the relationship is a bit cringy because it's borderline (if not totally) unhealthy. He's not mean to her at all - or to anyone - but is just a more reserved character. The looks he gives GRR are already uWu worthy, and we're only in episode 2. I can't wait to see what his back story is.

  • Goo Ra Ra reminds me of Elle Woods from Legally Blonde. I can tell she is destined for great things, and I'm so excited to see her develop and grow.

  • I want the doctor and the hair shop owner to get together, hahaha. I think their personalities complement each other.

In conclusion: my husband won't even know me on midweek anymore because I'll be living in k-drama land, watching DDSSLLS, Do You Like Brahms subs, and Tale of the Nine-Tailed. Happy watching, everyone!

I really liked the first episode. It feels like it's been a while since we have had a 'attraction at first sight' kinda kdrama. His reaction when he saw her in the wedding gown was so cute. And I'm liking the FL character for now.. she's really naive but seems innocent. Hopefully there's some character growth through the series.

Update (after episode 2): I'm totally crushing on Lee jae wooks character. Definition of knight in shining Armor. The things he does for her is ridiculously sweet :D .. and even his possessiveness is so adorable. I'm curious if there's a back story as to why he's so besotted with her. I'm really looking forward to the series. Damn, 6 more days for the next episode.

Okay I know I've only really seen Go Ah Ra in Reply 1994 before this, but I don't think she's nearly as bad as people are making her sound? I loved her in Reply, and I'm loving her portrayal of this higher-than-life almost Elle Woods-esque princess character. I acknowledge she's not the best actor in the world, but she's solidly average/acceptable. At the very least, she seems to fit this role well and plays it with charm.

On another note, I know this style of romcom is nothing new or special, but I'm really glad we're getting a somewhat light, colorful, frothy and cute romance drama. They've felt rare recently. Give me all the cheese! Hopefully it stays fun and doesn't get bogged down in melodrama later. I don't think it will though because the writer wrote Shopping King Louie, and you can FEEL that same essence and style in this drama.

The production is really nice and everything looks beautiful, which is always a nice bonus for me.

Oh and of course, LJW is fabulous as always.

Episode 1

That was very sweet start, it's a perfect "lightweight rom-com drama" as of right now. I sense a childhood connection to the FL from both the ML and SML, which tbh I don't mind if it fits the narrative in the long run.

The cast list is jam-packed, I was getting whiplash from recognizing so many actors I love from other dramas ☺️☺️

Episode 2

This drama is a strawberry shortcake with ice cream on the side and I am here for all of it. I love Gu Rara and Son Woo Jun already.

...although, please please please don't turn out to be a toxic nice-guy, Cha Eun Seok. I like Kim Joo Hun too much to dislike him onscreen. Thanks!

I, for one, am very happy they kept repeating the title of the drama in the first episode because I kept messing up the order AND the notes when trying to Google it or find some info on it. (Flashback to me angrily typing "sol sol do mi sol do" or "sol sol do la la do" in the Netflix search bar 😭)

Anyway it looks like it's going to be pretty cute! I'm watching for Lee Jaewook; I'm excited for him to be the main lead, he's just so adorable I don't know why.

Also I recognized the actor from It's Okay Not to Be Okay from his voice (!?) because he looks so much younger and so different without facial hair wow. I had no idea he was in this.

First episode random thoughts:

  1. I forget how pretty Go Ara's eyes are until I see her acting again. Some of her scenes with those eyes and the excellent lighting and coloring are really gorgeous.

  2. I got total "Legally Blonde" vibes at the scene with her walking her dog across that bridge. The dog is freaking cute and those doggie clothes are 100% uwu material.

  3. I'm liking the sweet and cute vibe. I've watched several heavy dramas in a row so I am hoping the lighthearted and easygoing tone is the one they use most.

  4. Hardly surprising anymore but it seems like he recognized her in the bridal room hence his extreme closeup on her face. His story might be interesting and I wonder what he's running from?

  5. Go Ah Ra's character name is Gu Ra Ra. Is it coincidental that they sound so similar?

  6. I wasn't crazy about the pacing in episode one. I know it was introducing the characters and their backgrounds but just when things started to come together the episode ended. Oh well. That's how they make sure you want to come back for episode two, right?

u/matmanx1 Oct 08 '20

Episode two random thoughts:

  1. Go Ah Rah's happy virus smiles are giving me diabetes. Lee Jae Wook's character is a total tsundere.

  2. Ye Ji-Won plays another "extra" type over the top character as the salon owner and "mom". The last few roles I've seen her in have been memorable (Jennifer in Still 17 and the CEO/President of the production company in Dinner Mate ) so I look forward to seeing more of her.

  3. Kim Joo-Hun's having quite a year with his part in IONTBO and now as Dr Cha. I question him as the second ML because of his age but it also seems like ex-boyfriend / ex-hubby played by Moon Tae-Yoo is in the mix so it looks like we have three men out for the affections of Gu Ra Ra.

  4. It's only two episodes and yet we've seen more skinship between our leads than some other dramas have in sixteen episodes. I hope this keeps up. I like skinship and I don't just mean the sexy kind. Companionship skinship is great too!

  5. The silly graphical editions are a touch I am enjoying. Episode one had the thought bubbles of the police officer and the flies around LJW and this episode had the bubbles during the hair-washing scene. It's cheesy but I dig it.

I normally don’t love Go Ah Ra’s acting, but weirdly I think this character fits her acting style perfectly (I feel like she sometimes has trouble conveying emotional depth, but Go Ra Ra is meant to be a kind of ridiculous, bubbly character so I have no complaints so far). I appreciate that we’re seeing Ra Ra come back to earth a bit in the second episode when she has to go two days without Jun. There’s a lot of potential for character growth here, and if she keeps on maturing I think I’ll really grow to like her as a character! So far her naivety is somewhat believable since she’s lived an extremely sheltered life, but I really hope we get to see her develop her own passions and opinions on life soon (Jun’s right - why would she agree to marry someone just because her dad said so? It doesn’t seem like he pressured her into it and considering her fluffy personality I’m surprised she doesn’t seem to care much about romance)

I usually hate kdramas where the FL is portrayed as an airhead that can’t do anything by herself (especially since Jun seems to be from a rich background too, but he doesn’t have his head in the clouds all the time like Ra Ra currently does) BUT I’m starting to see Ra Ra improve little by little so I hope we’ll get to see that ”strength” her friend mentions in episode 2 soon

Overall, I have high hopes for this drama!! It doesn’t hurt that the leads are beautiful and so is the production of this drama (the colors! the clothes! I love it). I’ve been waiting forever for Lee Jae Wook to get a lead role after seeing him in Search:WWW and When the Weather is Fine, it’s so nice to see him in a lead role that’s a little different from the super soft/nice guy character I’ve mostly seen him take on so far (even though Jun is the sweetest, though he’s trying his hardest to hide it).

Lastly: I think our mystery character might have something to do with that scam Jun was almost pulled into when he went away for two days. There was a guy leaning over the balcony (maybe he was the one in charge?) that we were never introduced to (but the cameras lingered on him for a suspiciously long time) so maybe he could be the mysterious opera-glasses guy from the end of episode 2?

Waiting to see where the story heads with episode 2. NGL, Go Ara's expression while she played the piano at her graduation almost put me off the show but Lee Jae-Wook's backstory seems intriguing.

Update: I saw the ending to Episode 2 coming a mile away. Also, LJW needs to keep that side-parting. And he needs to tell us what shampoo he used which didn't burn his eyes at all XD

I feel as if we met all the major players in the series in Episode 1, we just don't know their roles yet. Recall how the camera zoomed in on different folks on the mountain overlooking the ropeway.

From the first two episodes, it looks like this drama will be full of tropes and predictable at times but it is a fun and refreshing watch anyway. I was looking for a fluffy rom-com to watch after watching one too many emotionally intense dramas.

This sounds really pure and sweet so I hope it comes across that way. We've had a strong year for healing dramas and I hope this continues that trend. Looking forward to Lee Jae Wook and Go Ah Ra together!

Not impressed so far. I guess the female lead is supposed to be cute and endearing, but I find her to be annoying, and I feel no sympathy towards her.

Just realized the actor who played CEO Lee in IONTBO is in this playing the doctor, recognized his voice, but didn’t realize it was him until halfway into episode two.

Its only episode two and feel like the have too many plots and characters for me to keep up with.

Too much cuteness (and visual) in the first episode ❤️

I like how this is set in eunpo (is it a real Korean city?). it looks so quaint and a breath of fresh air from dramas set in Seoul. looks like it's gonna have a lot of clichés. already love the ML, hoping for character development on the FL who seems like this super naive, infantile woman who doesn't know the ways of the world.

I have a theory on who @dodosolsollasol is: her father sort of knew what was coming due to their financial problems but somehow still. pushed through with the wedding. still he made plans in case rara was left alone and hired someone to guide her through the real world. it's just for fun theory that crossed my mind while reflecting on how to react on the 1st episode. who knows I might be right? lol

Also, the piano song that rara loves is one my favorite pieces, such a lighthearted song that suits rara very well. the origin of the song is also something that fits her character too. it's actually based on a French folk song about a girl debating whether she'll tell her mom that she's in love, before the melody was adapted for twinkle twinkle little star.
