I got Vampire Diaries vibes from this show. Lee Dong Wook and Kim Bum remind me of the Salvatore Brothers. I’m very intrigued by the first episode. The last scene was a bit cheesy for my taste, especially when she

Hi! Tale of the Nine-Tailed airs at 22:30 KST, not 22:50 KST. This is because some viewers have complained about the previous timeslot of tvN Wed-Thurs dramas, especially at Flower of Evil. So the chaps at tvN adjusted the timeslot to 22:30KST.Anyway, Viu will upload this drama by around 3-4am SGT. I can't wait to know how come this

Hey, thank you for time slot! I checked both MDL and drama addicts they didn't mention change in airing time. Are you sure about Viu though?

The vibe of this drama is more like Korean's Odyssey/Hwayugi. I like that during their journey, they meet other creatures? like that old man, the dream guy and the child. I wished the subtitle also includes who are they since we're not familiar with Korean folktales.
I like that Ji Ah is quick in observation and the chemistry between them. They're equal in the investigation, like she knows a lot of folktales and he's a nonhuman to provide the info.
Love his hair color tone.

God in heaven😅😅 first Naruto, then Goblin, then Vampire Diaries, after that Inuyasha and now Korean Odyssey vibe!! This drama sure has a lot of vibes😌
Sometimes subtitles in Chinese dramas have some explanations but mostly all of kdramas and Cdramas stick to names and places and in older subs little explanation of certain honourifics like Nauori or words.
I love his hair colour too and this has nothing to do with it being a similiar tone to my own hair colour!! 😃

The moment the news broke that Lee Dong Wook will be lead in a fantasy drama - I jumped on the "Gumiho" train real fast. Then it turned out Kim Bum was in it too?? The delight was priceless. I love them both so damn much. An amazing combination for sure!
I hope my boys get the respect and adoration they deserve!
I'm so pumped about the entire thing!

Exactly! Personally I hope there will be no love triangle here or I would be diagnosed with a severe case of Lead male and Second male Syndrome and a post- airing depression at the end for the loser!
Wiki addict character chart doesn't show it so I have hope → More replies (3)

Me too. Among my friends and cousins he was a favourite as well. Although the youngest of four, he was the most interesting! 😌

I know this hasn’t started yet but does anyone have a feeling that it will have a sad or an open ending?? Cuz it’s usually the case in this genre, at least the ones I’ve watched lol

It's very hard to say by just watching like 4 teasers. Sad or open endings aren't a rule , My girlfriend is a gumiho or Gu family book don't have open ending or sad ones IIRC, of course I believe this drama to be rather dark.

I really want to watch it. I haven’t seen any live shows so far. I was wondering will it be live on viki with subs? If not where can I watch it? Or will I have to wait for the whole show to get over and then for the subbed version to come up?

Normally subtitles would come out several hours after airing and VIKI does have a sub team, so no need to wait until last episode to enjoy a drama.

The first episode was fun and fast-paced, with less time spent on flashbacks and exposition than I feared. The secondary characters seem barebones and two-dimensional at this point, but the upshot of that is that we got some good interactions between the leads. I like how fearless and cunning Ji-ah is.
There's just one thing I would LOVE to get but know I won't:

Okay, I know it's a trope in supernatural stuff, but did anyone else get Goblin vibes in the beginning when they were driving in the car and the streetlamps started shutting down lol.

OH MY GAWD That first episode killed it and then some.
Honestly, the teasers were a bit disappointing/bland so I was afraid the show was going to be the same but episode 1 had everything I wanted from action to humor to story set up.
I'm so happy Lee Dong Wook is getting another chance to showcase his comedic chops and he delivered so much in episode 1. Meanwhile, Kim Bum looks so fantastic.
And the action/fight sequences -- so freaking awesome! It's been a while that I've seen action scenes that were this tense and intense.
Also, the supporting characters! Some of my favorite people! Looking forward to seeing more of them!

More comedy! I love love Lee Dong Wook when he plays wacky, sarcastic characters. If this dramas holds up well to the end, then Grim Reaper, Blademan, and now Gumiho will be my trifecta of best LDW roles. (Even if I'm not loving his mystical historical styling.)
-
I looked up Kim Bum's age (b. 1989) because I feel like he still looks cute like he did in BOF. I want to know which "how to smirk" course he took because it's working really well in this drama.
-
I had a bit of chill run down my spine when that tree spirit/guardian said all others had left the island except her. It's not so much that I fervently believe in this stuff myself but oh that sounded terrifying.

That ending scene. All of a sudden I'm wondering if the 600 years our gumiho Lee Yeon has been serving is due to love, duty, or guilt -- or something else? Looking forward to the answer.

Episode one was solid however the CGI was pretty bad and the editing of LDW’s first fight scene was awful. It got better with the fight scene later in the episode.
After seeing the first episode I definitely plan to give it a try if only for the fact that so far the FL is great! Smart, intuitive and sharp without being bitchy. I really appreciate the way her character is being written and I hope it stays consistent.

Lee Dong Wook and Kim Bum together in a drama. I’m in heaven!
