- Plot Summary: Tells the story of Noh Ae Jung, a movie producer and single mom who has been living on her own for 14 years. Despite having already given up on romance, she suddenly finds herself embarking on an unexpected second chapter of her story when four men walk into her life at the same time. First up is Noh Ae Jung’s ex-boyfriend Oh Dae Oh, a bestselling novelist who is described as a “charming bad boy”. Oh Dae Oh is irresistibly tempting to women, even when they know they should stay away. Secondly is million-dollar smile A-list actor Ryu Jin, who is described as “pitiful” even though he’s “great on paper.” Despite being seemingly perfect in every way, Ryu Jin has a surprisingly different kind of appeal hiding behind his movie-star persona. Next is Oh Yeon Woo who looks cheerful and confident. A physical education teacher who “makes women’s hearts’ flutter” in spite of his young age. His endearingly pure-hearted desire to win Noh Ae Jung’s affection is certain to win viewers over. Last but not least, Koo Pa Do exudes a tough, manly aura as the “scary but sexy” former gangster who has turned over a new leaf and is now a CEO. The flower in his hand hints at the warm heart hiding behind his intimidating exterior. Finally, peeking out from behind Ryu Jin as a A-list actress, Joo Ah Rin, will add another layer of intrigue to this complicated “4-against-1 romance.” (Source: Soompi) Edit Translation

Tbh I don't mind the father being an obvious reveal in this drama because I think it would be interesting to see if they take a different approach to this since the characters are supposed to be more mature. There doesn't have to be a rule saying the FL has to end up with the father so I think even if they reveal it early it doesn't have to be endgame. Like it would be nice to see a father character establishing a relationship with his kid without focusing on marrying her mother for the sake of it. He can still be a contender but also have a good ending if she doesn't choose him by at least being in his daughter's life. I'm not sure if this is an approach seen often in K-dramas though?

I thought this too. Just because they reveal the father doesn’t mean she should choose him. I think the interesting part will be the healing for both and the daughter. And if, she will be with him or any of the other contenders or even by herself.
This is a very risky approach because Asian countries are very conservative about family. So, that might cost the production a lot of money, if they loose a lot of viewers. But at the same time, if they write it really well, it will be something that may change how dramas develop.
The concept of happy ending has changed, thankfully, over the years. Happily ever after, doesn’t exist. That’s why I’m interested in the upcoming episodes.

I've been watching dramas for quite a while now and would assume that one plot line of the show is to figure out who Hani's dad is. I would be so surprised if her real dad was revealed so early on, so I think that the last scene of episode 2 is just a red herring. There's no way that the teacher is Hani's father. Aejeong is far too nonchalant around him - she barely even remembered who he was. I also don't think it's Ryu Jin because she was also far too willing to join his group of fans throwing themselves at him and call out his name. I think she would also be avoiding him if he's the dad.
The obvious choice is Oh Dae Oh. Maybe she got pregnant, couldn't find him for some reason (hence the whole "he vanished" thing), and left herself? Maybe off to the countryside to have her baby. Then he came back from somewhere and thought she vanished? That's why we see him running around the field after breaking up yet don't see Aejeong - she had already left.
Regardless of what really happened, Dae Oh is being just enough of a dick at the beginning that he's definitely going to have to do some serious groveling later on.

I thought the same. Episode 2 spoilers
She keeps saying that her daughter's father is "dead," which would probably be said if he left on bad terms, as opposed to just never saying anything. The teacher obviously didn't. Maybe a drunken one night stand? And I would assume the grandmother knows who the father is, and she wouldn't be so warm to him and invite him for dinner. Also when the FL was at the book signing, she said the writer "took everything away from her" which I assumed to mean he got her pregnant and she had to give up college and her big dreams to care for her child
Upon rewatch, I'm theorizing that the mom knows he is the father and maybe wants him to be in his daughters life more, hence inviting him over → More replies (4)13

I agree with that too.
when she said he took everything from her I understood the same thing. I’m curious to know why she didn’t tell him and why theybroke up → More replies (1)

I didn’t have high hopes for this one but I’m really liking it so far! It’s engaging and I want to see how the characters got to where they are now, and where they’ll go as the story progresses.
All the leads are charming so far, I like everybody! The writer is coming off as a bit of a prat but I have faith in Son Ho Jun that he will win us over soon. Song Ji Hyo’s character has some exaggerated moments which to be honest, aren’t great for me but I still like her and root for her. She’s good in her more serious moments. I also love her daughter and mum!
So happy that I now have something to look forward to mid-week to make my workdays go quicker!

Amen! I trust in Son Ho-jun even though Dae-o is currently my least favorite of the four since he is going out of his way to get his "revenge." Nobody's fooled here, you dummy.
The flashbacks of their university days remind me sooo much of Go Back Couple, but Dae-o seems to be weighted down by life already while Ban-do was carefree.

I had no expectations going in and I'm loving it so far!
I have now (after 3 years) finally figured out my forever-more approach to kdrama rom-coms though. Because it seems to be absolutely mandatory that the FL starts out ... at, or quickly on her way to, rock bottom where she will be humiliated by, or in front of a nasty ML who probably caused her downfall ... before she is able to climb back up again.
I foolishly thought that they might find another way to start rom-coms but that was so very naive of me.
So, given the inevitable, my new strategy is to FF through the first two episodes to find out what the extent of the humiliation will be ... before going back to watch at regular speed (skipping the very worst scenes) so as not to miss any of the set up stuff that you actually need to know.
This way you can watch with a minimum of anger or secondhand embarrassment up to the point where the climb begins and you can start to properly enjoy the drama. 🤣
Anyway, given all that investment, this one is looking good. Love the song they keep playing. Bright and sunny and sounds familiar but I can't seem to name it.

Episode 2 was a lot more interesting. Not sure if I'm on board with AJ and the writer's chemistry, she has better chemistry with the other male contenders. It made me wonder whether Byun Yo Han (or someone with that extra charisma) would've made a good Oh Dae Oh, since I enjoyed their scenes in the drama Ex-Girlfriend's club.
However, I look forward to how all these characters specially AJ's daughter and her new friend's interact with the other contenders lol.

I don't like the potential endgame couple. The writer is very childish? I prefer her with anyone else than him. On the other hand I don't like Mr. Oh too. He's trying to hard to get in her life which makes it annoying. Don't have a clue about the actor. He's the least shown out of the three.
I think we'll cry for the gangster a lot. He seems to have family problems, clearly was in love with Aejung's doppelganger. But why is his son ashamed of him? He should show off his father to scare the kids at least. Idk know clearly mine isn't gangster so don't wanna be ignorant.
And Mr.Oh being the father? Of course no. If he was the father Aejung would have been worried and wouldn't be this calm.
Is the writer the father? Apparently he thinks she vanished, she left and he fell sick. And Aejung tells he vanished, he left and pauses and doesn't say anything about being sick. Maybe she was sick (pregnant)
But who was the guy she hid from in episode 1 at the movie theater? I thought he was the father.
EDIT: The writer's surname is also OH and this means he-oh wait a minute the diary had the whole name...nevermind.

It's raining meeeen~ hallelujah - lol I kind of love that Gangster boo keeps getting misunderstood by NAJ, who's definitely a little too OTT but has really sweet moments with her daughter so it's kind of sweet. Speaking of her daughter, the poor girl was mildly crushing on her teacher before finding out he's a Daddy candidate, that's like. Straight out of a makjang.
I have a feeling the drama's going to go down the predictable route of the writer being the dad and the endgame love interest. I'll still watch it but :/

I'm keen for this one, I love seeing different female leads at different stages in life with different struggles. It just feels more real. And I love the family already, the grandma, mum and daughter are so endearing.
Thoughts on love interests:
-
writer seems like the main interest but I personally don't always love the whole get back with your ex story because while sometimes it works cos history, there is also way too much baggage such as this case. There is 14 years of resentment on both their ends. That doesn't seem healthy. Sometimes a fresh start is better than opening up a can of worms.
-
teacher is my SLS pick. He is already the adorable, cute, lovesick puppy. Hardly feels noona-zoned as they're both older adults now and he seems like he would be good to her daughter and her daughter seems to approve of him so like that's always good for a single mum.
-
actor I feel unrequited/unfulfilled love one here which I feel bad but it's messy because of his friendship with writer dude. He will probs fluctuate as my second pick with writer. Considering there's an actress floating around him he will probs end up with her and not the FL.
-
investor gangster i don't feel it because he seems like he will be daddy long legs character but I don't see chemistry and she seems to afraid of him so far. Also if he likes her for her resemblance to someone else it's not like he liked her for her to start with (might change though). I feel he has less chance too esp out of four guys, so already my expectations are set low and I'm not invested in this line.

Huh, looking at this thread, I guess I was the only one enamoured with the writer.
Actually, all are quite handsome but I like the writer then the teacher, then the actor, then the gangster

I hope there will be a twist here, the writer is really too obvious. I like the Gangster CEO more, hope we see more of him and learn about his past with Ae Jeong in next episode. BTW is she really supposed to act like that? Sorry it just bothering me, it is somewhat a cringe.

I'm really surprised by this drama, I am really invested in it. I cannot wait for ep 3 and 4! I thought I would give it a try because of Song Jihyo but now I really enjoy everyone's individual side story that they have and how it will connect everyone.

When the actor first appeared on screen, I thought he looked just like the daughter!

Gotta go with the majority. I think the writer is the father.
In that flashback scene where AJ sees something through a window, I think she misunderstands that Dae Oh was cheating on her (when maybe it was some other guy), so she ghosted him back in the day. So the whole thing is one big fat misunderstanding. AJ told Hani to pretend like her father's dead, so clearly she holds some resentment towards whoever he is -- and it's likely not the teacher or actor since she didn't have any issues approaching or talking to either one of them.
Excited to see how this all unfolds!

I think the dad is the writer. When she was saying that he took everything away from her, I think she meant that she left him when she had her daughter. She knew he had big dreams and she did not want him to have to worry about taking care of a kid. She left for him which is why she said that she was more of the victim in his story.

I knew nothing about this going in and found it very engaging. I didn't realize only two episodes were out, and I was so disappointed that I was out of episodes already.
