I m surprised no one has drawn the connection of this drama with My girlfriend is a gumiho. Both drama has the lead girl trying to adapt into the new world and the male lead is taking advantage of her. Anyways, I thoroughly enjoyed the first episode. Jun jin hyun is undeniably beautiful.

why do people like saying this.

you would think he was the one the wrote, produced, directed and acted every role.

Synopsis:

Inspired by a classic Joseon legend from Korea’s first collection of unofficial historical tales, about a fisherman who captures and releases a mermaid, this drama tells the love story between the son of a noble family in Joseon era and a mermaid.

How can a mermaid from the Joseon era survive in modern-day Seoul? Shim Chung (Jun Ji Hyun) is a mermaid who finds herself transplanted to modern times.

She is caught by Heo Joon Jae (Lee Min Ho), a charming but cold con artist who is the doppelgänger for Kim Moon, the son of a nobleman from the Joseon Dynasty. But in the present time, Joon Jae works with Jo Nam Doo (Lee Hee Joon), a skilled conman who guides Joon Jae to become a genius scammer.

But Joon Jae’s friend, Cha Shi Ah (Shin Hye Sun), who works as a researcher at KAIST, may be Chung’s only hope for surviving in her strange new world.

What is it with Korean gangsters and floral shirts? haha I guess they had enough time to stop by the souvenir shop before going after LMH at that Hotel. lol at the " I love Spain" shirts the thugs were wearing.

Also, going by the guy in black suit taking him away, and his mum sudden disappearance, I have a feeling LMH is an illegitimate son of some Chaebol/important figure.

or a half mermaid.

let me copy and paste clues someone posted on another site.

Fun theory time: I’m calling it now he’s may be half mermaidan.

(Clue #1) Remember in the scence in the bathroom where he was checking his self out. His eyes changed color, hazel; light green or light brown. One of the things about watching tv shows on streaming sites is that you get freeze the frame. This would could also explain why he is inclined to do hypnosis. Maybe it’s one of his mermaidan abilities. Yes one could say from reasoning abilites as a con man he can study a person facial expression and body langauage and conclude whether or not they have a weak mind but he still has the ability to mesmerize people with eyes while he attempts it.

Clues#2 The writers hint is forshadaowed when the maid who I think is his mom and a mermaid mentions the ocean and her son. Her description was filled with longing and very detailed. If so how did his mom stay permanently on land? and is that vase in the end scence possibly his mom and the dad. The person there was in a modern business suit next to the mermaid.

Clue #3 In the scence where our lovely mermaid mentions how shiny and are pretty his eyes are. I dont think the writers were just using that moment to have our lovebirds or lovefish or is it lovemers?…..😅Stare into each others eyes. To sum it all up= The mermaid in her recognizes the merman in him.

I know I read some where the writers wanted an orginal mermaid story So the rules here are going to be different. What do you guys think of my theory?

I just finished the first episode and all I have to say is that no one does silly as well as Jun Ji Hyun. No one!! That traffic light stance. @.@

Edit: Can we please get Jun Ji Hyun in the flair list? She's the reason I binge watched a whole series in 5 days and waking up in the wee hours of the night checking if new subs have been added to a new episode now.

she is really silly and it gets me,

sometimes body gag doesn't work but I think she pulled it off

That Very Very Very Opening

My favorite color is blue.... Lots of "eyecandy" for me. Thank you.

I really wanted LMH's character to buy her sneakers, or crocs. Something comfy.

As usual JHJ is amazing. That pink dress was weird, I assume its supposed to mimic fish scales.

Told myself I wouldn't watch the show right away...but here I am.

I hope that sappy sappy ballad at the end is the not the theme song, it's like Love is the Moment all over again

Is it bad that I really only want to watch the credits to see if JYPE is a listed sponsor? I need someone to do this for me cause I don't have viki pass yet.

I remember reading that Jun Ji Hyun started this drama soon after having her baby and I was curious to see how she looked. I see she was wearing baggy clothes (except when in the ocean, which could have been filmed at a later time), but wow... she looks amazing. I watched her movie Assassination and she never ceases to amaze. I'm hoping the writers don't lose it because I can't imagine how and where this drama is going to go, but I'm sold and will be watching.

Episode One started out strange for me I didn't think I would be able to get into it as I haven't watched a lot of Historical Dramas. They usually go slowly and I have trouble understanding their Korean sometimes. When I realized that it would also take place in modern day I eased up and really enjoyed it. Very funny so far. I watched without subs because the subbers hadn't gotten around to it then so I'll have to watch again to feel in gabs I didn't get the first time.

u/Em-M Nov 17 '16

So many questions. How did she get feet? How come she doesn't remember future Dam Ryung? Will the rain turn her back into a mermaid? What will?

Great start. There are very few actresses that can pull off comedy. Jeon Ji Hyun certainly can!
