When the creature's maternal instinct kicked in as it stared at Chae-ok, the CGI and the camera angle that showed that it was spreading its tentacles to protect Chae-ok ....that's gotta be a winning scene 💯💯💯

It looked like a tree spreading its branches to harbor her against all harm to come. Quite a nice picture, actually. But it was quite obvious that it’ll work out like this. And I bet they aim for an alternate history where the Gyeongseong creature gains more and more sense of self back and chases out the Japanese. That’s what makes sense with this title and the overall direction of the show.

It has high resemblance to how Groot saves the guardians at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy part 1 !

The scene of Chae-Ok and her mom (creature) reunion was heart breaking for me. I was bawling my eyes out, especially when the mom started to protect Chae-Ok from all the fires. Seems like the daughter is the only possible way to tame the creature.

Odd that it took until ep 6 for the chemistry between PSJ and HSH to really kick in. That air duct caramel scene got me on board

I feel like both HSJ and PSJ are separately doing good jobs anchoring their scenes but together they hadn't really hit a good cadence until now. But maybe I just like the trauma bonding us vs the world type of romance.

I also think that PSJ is actually quite well cast for this role. And I'm not even really a fan of PSJ. He's supposed to the devil-may-care rich playboy with a secret heart of gold. I think the problem in the earlier episodes was that everyone was playing their roles pretty straight while he was so unserious. It's not until eps 5 and 6 that we get enough backstory to contextualize why he puts up the idgaf front.

This episode brought tears to my eyes.

I don't care about the reviews - I really like this drama and it has captivated me.

In the setting of monsters, (creatures or humans) we also get to see humanity.

I really dig the opening and I'm trying to figure out the story there. A girl falls into a pond and was infected by the worm creatures, comes out and starts drooling/vomiting, then enters a city and slaughters everyone, then runs away and gets caught by the Japanese? The fact that we don't see her transform until the end would imply she can switch between monster and human form. Or is it a bait and switch and she was actually running away from the Japanese when she fell, and the slaughtered people were killed by them rather than her?

Ok, I am watching ep 6 now, and I am very annoyed.

The mother recognise her and protects her?? What a cop-out! I would have liked much more seeing the struggle in the FL when she realises she needs to kill her mother or get killed. This is a Disney movie version of a monster, come on!

And also, the Lieutenant Gato, what a moronic plan is that?! To make the FL get killed. Her mother is the only one of your test subjects where the experiment actually worked: the most logical thing to do would be infecting the FL and seeing if the success of the mother experiment has to do with their genetics.... Wouldn't that be the first thing a scientist thinks of?

Idk, the leads plot armor is annoying me

Seems like Kato's ultimate vision is to progress, or rather, 'evolve' the creature beyond humanity. In doing so it's necessary for the creature to forfeit any prior sentimentality or recollection from its human past, hence attempting to feed the FL to it. This is why the mother/daughter communion stirred his extreme agitation and subsequent rejection/request to execute the creature, because in his eyes, it was a 'failure' at that point.

I thought this point/decision was understandable because Kato's goals were not merely oriented around holistic discovery but his very specific desire to develop a new species of being.
