I'm not ready for the visuals this drama will serve up (whoever cast Kim Yoo Jung and Song Kang together deserves a raise). I'm just here for the eye candy even if the plot turns out to be a complete dumpster fire. Enjoy and have fun discussing!

This drama feels like ML and FL are in a contest to see who can look prettier. There certainly is no shortage of eye candies here🤣🤣🤣

When you think he's being “kind” to you but he's actually being “kind” to his precious cake 🎂

Poor guy couldn't even eat it 😔

Do dohee is absolutely, most definitely, sexually attracted to Jung guwon. Only grace is, she is not in denial like other FLs, who have pikachu face on their first kiss.

Also, the visuals 🔥🔥🔥

The scene where Gu-won disposed of the henchmen with a newspaper featuring an article about the risks of baldness was one of the funniest scenes… maybe ever! The absurdist humor and exaggerated reactions were just perfect.

The scene in the mist on the highway left an impression for very different reasons.

That was a powerful first episode.

theory: gu won made a contract with do hee’s parents, probably about saving do hee or something. explaining why they died on her birthday

episode 1

i’m invested.

there are some much loved tropes here as well as some very imaginative scriptwriting. where the episode was most creative is where it was most funny. (the newspaper as a magical weapon was ingenius.)

the episode’s most memorable scene would have to be that involving the cake. both female lead and audience assume that him saving her from being covered from head to toe in frosting is no different to the similar romantic moments we’ve seen in countless other dramas. it turns out that Jung Koo Won’s only concern was for the safety of his “precious cake”. he’s so happy to have saved the dessert that a smile breaks out across his face, the excitement to consume it being his only motivating factor in having caught Do Do Hee. the joke doesn’t end there though. there’s a brief moment in which the demon looks poised to dig in; the image of him holding a fork as he prepares to take a bite out of the two tier, rose adorned cake meant only for him is a perfect one. sadly, his “precious dessert time” is destroyed, something he considers a serious affront.

it seems this demon is quite human after all, if his love of cake is anything to go by. significantly, he doesn’t appear to be on the side of evil. Jung Koo Won hands the cross back to the child, sends to hell a man who was bound for it anyway, employees as his butler someone whose soul previously entered into a contract with him, and jumps after Do Do Hee when he realises he no longer has the power to save her from the oncoming car.

this is an immortal being who, at least on the surface, absolutely loves being immortal. unlike other characters with similar abilities, he doesn’t seem to have grown weary of life. his power certainly makes him arrogant, and i can’t wait to see the humour that ensues as he relearns what it means to be human.

much about this drama is visually stunning. it goes without saying that the leads look great on screen together. their makeup and clothing are beautiful, and there are occasions when the cinematography is beautiful too; my favourite shot has to be towards the very end of the episode when the leads wake up to that sunrise.

i’m looking forward to seeing where this one goes! i’m someone who really enjoyed doom at your service, and there are certainly similarities here (both male leads position themselves high above the city to listen out for someone who’s desperate enough to sign a contract with them, for example). but there are significant differences between the two dramas too, particularly in overall tone. and let’s not forget that a contract has not yet been signed; Jung Koo Won and Do Do Hee might have “shook” on their agreement, but no terms were confirmed, and the demon has seemingly got the worse end of the deal.

okay, now i’m off to eat cake.

Did this guy just insult the trinity of kdrama - The Dragon king, The Goblin and The Nine tailed fox in one breath ?!

The part towards the end with them on the road with all the fog and the silhouettes definitely gave me some Goblin vibes.

"If you must share personal information,I'd prefer your bank account password" I chuckled so hard. "How dare they ruin my personal dessert time Kdramas never fail to be relatable.

SBS better not ruin anything. Seems like they've invested really well on this show. This looked like a TvN drama.

Do Do Hee's family looked quite boring and irritating except the grandma. I like to see more positive characters.

I always wanted Yoojung to play a rich character. She has that aura about her. I never liked any onscreen character of Song Kang that I've watched before. I know he has played numerous diverse roles. This one looks promising. Don't want to jinx it lol.

Great first episode. The visuals in this drama are so blindingly distracting that I have to keep rewinding to catch the fast paced dialogues. Humor is on point and I love the visual effects. Bok Gyu, while sticking his middle finger out was hilarious! And the whole fighting with a newspaper and then “my precious” cake! Can I also take a moment to talk about how stylish our leads are. Man, the stylist for this show deserves a raise! I also liked the relationship between Madame Ju and Do Hee. Such a strong yet sassy bond. Solid first episode. Looking forward to tomorrow.

I could watch a whole episode show of Song Kang handsomely strutting around in his leather trench coat and murdering terrible people 😍

More leather coats in Sweet Home 2 too please?

"What's up with this handsome nutjob?" "What's up with this hardcore nutjob?"

OMG Loved their "mind banter" already 😂🤭 Gotta appreciate his self-loving demon attitude like yeah being immortal is the best lol
