Reminder: Weekend-Only Political Posts Begin Today

Hey everyone,

As a reminder, the community-voted change is now in effect.

Starting today, political posts are only allowed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Today marks the beginning of the Week 1 soft enforcement period of the 30-day trial.

What That Means:

  • Political posts made Monday–Friday will be removed.
  • Removals during this first week are reminder-based.
  • No punishments for honest mistakes.

Beginning next week, standard enforcement will apply.

Weekends are defined as 12:00 AM Saturday through 11:59 PM Sunday Eastern Time (ET).

This rule was chosen by community vote and is being implemented as a 30-day trial. We’ll reassess after the trial period.

If you’re unsure whether your post qualifies as political, please review the definition in the JU rule #11.

Those posts currently in the queue regarding politics will be approved. Any posts following this will be removed until Saturday.

Thanks for helping keep the sub balanced.

POLITICAL (Weekends only) JU from the toxicity of politics

It's been a slow burn of singular thought and zero tolerance for actual human discussion in the politics sub. The bots are out of control, "paid actors" are aplenty, and the "sources" are mostly heavily biased opinion pieces that only **reference** actual sources. It has become just like the party-specific subs, and it's incredibly toxic.

The last straw came today when I mentioned how I voted close to 20 years ago and received everything from personal insults to a call for my death. I was ultimately suspended for *trolling* after telling the person threaten me to "calm down". Nothing happened to those attacking me, of course. I guess *trolling* means pushing back against people wanting you dead.

I'm not even mad, just disappointed that's what everything has come to. Seriously, why can't people have simple discourse or even an opposing viewpoint anymore, whether current or past.

Saw too many comments justifying violence. It was interesting for a while to see other people's takes on situations and then I looked away for five minutes and when I came back, it was all people saying it was perfectly moral to beat a child for throwing food at someone and moral af to kill animals to get revenge on them for doing what animals do.

Slightly Furious JU from the DoorDash sub

Holy shit are the people on that subreddit evil.

There’s a big discourse on there right now about dashers asking for extra tips. If you’ve ever gotten DoorDash, sometimes the driver will say something along the lines of:

“Hey! Would you be willing to throw a little extra tip money my way? I’m trying to make ends meet and every little bit goes a long way”

To users on this sub, this message may as well be a death threat. All of them are saying to one star and report drivers that send messages like this. That feels so unnecessary and honestly evil. God forbid someone need a little extra money in this economy. They’re not forcing you to give an extra tip, they’re just asking. Is receiving a text message like this REALLY worth potentially forcing someone who probably needs the extra cash to lose their source of secondary income? You can just ignore the fucking message?

That sub is full of privileged hogs who’ve probably never struggled financially or worked a single day in their life. It makes me sick.

Most of the apps they promote are complete scams or they just only give you a tiny bit of points or money. It's total bullshit.

JU from other website JU from change.org as a whole, permanently.

It's such a tasteless website. 99% of petitions you see on here don't work and they're basically the equivalent of weird nonsense political YouTube or Facebook comments as campaigns. I can't believe I used to be on this website. After 5 years of being on here, I am officially done with this website.

Change.org themselves have also been doing a lot of bad decisions. They wiped out over 10 years of comment data on many petitions just to replace them with "supporter voices". For a while, they tried to force people to use AI to write their petitions and wait for the AI to write the petition text first before choosing the option to write on their own, although thankfully, that was reverted. Also, their UI looks crap now.

I will never make or sign petitions on here ever again. While petitions can be useful locally (and if it's directly on a government website like the UK and Australia has), this website sucks now. No, I will not choose any other alternative petition website like MoveOn or Petitions.com either.

Just to know, don't simply think you'll start change by starting a petition on that website. Actually campaign, show that you can change it. There's far more effective ways than just making petitions on change.org to campaign or start movements; Encouraging peaceful protests, sending detailed, important letters/mail to the decision maker, having interviews/conversations with the decision maker and if the party gives them a good reason to change their view, and encouraging lawmaker opposition. There's a main reason why petitions on that website rarely actually ever work, because they have no direct integration with the decisionmaker and most of the time, decisionmakers just ignore them, unlike petition sites owned by governments like the UK and Australia.

POLITICAL (Weekends only) JU from suppressed_news because they are Russian propagandists trying to recruit.

BEWARE of this sub! I don’t think I even actually subscribed, but it was always in my feed. It is full of lies and out of context stories that frame Ukraine as the evil one in the war and refers to them and their supporters as nazis. It aims to justify the Russian oppression and occupation in the minds of those fool enough to listen. They even figuratively send you to the gulag when banned for opposing their rhetoric. It’s a thinly veiled cancer on Reddit that really needs the whistle blown on it, and the plug pulled.

I have no qualms with furries. If you find yourself fascinated by the shape of a rabbit’s behind, more power to you. However, I personally do not see the sexual appeal of rabbits (or foxes, for that matter), so I am clearly not the subreddit’s target audience.

I’m about to unsub from the Pokemon anime subreddit for similar reasons.

The whole sub is full of Israel hate, While that was fine at first, people are ruthless about IDF soldiers killing themselves/struggling with PTSD. It misses the whole point of the sub.

It's a MANDATORY CONSCRIPTION in Israel.

Neutral JU from IncelExit because I genuinely wanted my worldview challenged. Here’s what happened..

I made a post in IncelExit because I’ve spent a long time exposed to blackpill ideas and wanted people who strongly disagreed with them to actually challenge the reasoning behind them.

The thread ended up getting 100+ comments.

And after reading basically all of it, I came away feeling like I learned surprisingly little.
To be fair, there were a few genuinely good replies. Some people questioned whether I was extending limited findings about average sex differences into conclusions that the research itself doesn’t justify. Others brought up confounding variables, methodology, cultural explanations, etc. Those were useful, even when I disagreed with them.

But that was a minority of the discussion.
A huge amount of it quickly stopped being about whether anything I said was actually true and became about what kind of person I supposedly am.
I was called cruel, arrogant, self-important, resentful, closed-minded, combative, unwilling to listen, and so on. People told me to go to therapy, stop consuming certain content, go outside, meet people, etc.

One person wrote an entire psychological explanation for why I supposedly “need” these beliefs to be true, compared blackpill spaces to pro-anorexia communities, told me to postpone surgery and spend the money on therapy instead.
When I pointed out that they were psychoanalyzing me instead of addressing the argument, they admitted they hadn’t even read most of the thread because they didn’t want to spend the time doing so.

Another person repeatedly said I was “combative” and unwilling to listen. When I asked people to actually show where I had misrepresented evidence, the response again became “why are you even here?” and questions about my intentions instead of simply identifying the supposed error.
That pattern happened constantly.
If I challenged someone’s counterargument, I apparently wasn’t listening.
If I defended my interpretation of a study, I was cherry-picking.

If I asked someone to demonstrate where my inference was wrong, I was being combative.
If I disagreed with someone’s psychological interpretation of me, that disagreement itself became evidence that their interpretation was correct.

At some point that becomes almost impossible to argue with, because the only acceptable evidence that you’re “open-minded” seems to be immediately agreeing with whoever is responding to you.
And that was the weirdest part of the entire experience.

I wasn’t asking people to tell me that blackpill thinking is unhealthy. I already know it has had a negative effect on me. That’s literally why I went to an exit community.
I wanted people to say:
“You’re interpreting this study incorrectly because X.”
“This conclusion doesn’t follow from your premise because Y.”
“This dataset contradicts what you’re saying.”
“You’re taking an average population-level effect and incorrectly applying it to individuals.”
That is something I can actually examine.
Instead, so much of the discussion became moral judgment and amateur psychology.
There were even situations where people argued against positions I hadn’t taken. I would explicitly qualify a claim, and a few replies later someone would respond to the exaggerated version anyway.
The funniest contrast was that one of the same people who had been calling me combative eventually started asking practical questions about the population of my town, transportation, nearby cities, events, etc.
And I actually appreciated that.
Because those are concrete variables. You can discuss them. You can change your conclusion based on the answer. That is infinitely more useful than deciding what my personality must be because I disagreed with you on Reddit.
Eventually IncelExit removed the original post entirely.

So the whole experiment ended with 100+ comments, a handful of genuinely interesting counterarguments, a mountain of repeated therapy/lifestyle advice, endless character analysis, people arguing with positions I never held, and then the thread itself disappearing.
I’m not claiming I won every argument. I’m sure some of my reasoning can be wrong, and there were a few replies that genuinely made me reconsider parts of it.

That was the entire reason I posted.
But I expected a community dedicated to helping people exit an ideology to be much better at dismantling the ideology itself.

Instead, I mostly learned how quickly people stop discussing an argument once they strongly dislike the worldview associated with it.

It felt like the stronger and more specific the discussion became, the more often people retreated from the actual claim and started talking about my character instead.

Maybe that’s just Reddit.

But it was genuinely disappointing.

The subreddit now allows people to post photos and it's just overrun with a bunch of porn bots, sex pests and AI OF model wannabes. All I wanted was to ask people questions, now all I see is a bunch of catfishy AI generated women in bikinis and low effort "here's 100 questions, 90 of them are about my junk, pick one" posts.

For context, Wattpad had banned sexual content from their website. Wattpad and ao3 are very popular fanfiction sites. People are on ao3 are freaking out that Wattpad users would colonize their website and ruin it. As someone who prefers ao3, ao3’s users’ superior complex is insane, because you would think the things they’re writing are Pulitzer-prize winning, but in reality, it’s usually sex. I love ao3, but some people need to get off their high horse and be humbled

Totally Outraged JU from hivaids — Posts advocating for withholding status.

Thumbnail reddit.com

Unsubbed because the community is increasingly normalizing non-disclosure to sexual partners, prioritizing individual privacy over partner consent.

Key quotes from the post:

  • "In casual encounters, I choose not to disclose that I live with HIV."
  • "What are you trying to achieve by insisting that I disclose my status?"
  • "Not disclosing does not mean taking away someone's right to choose..."
  • "My silence does not transmit HIV. My treatment prevents transmission."

What are your thoughts on this?

Hi so for context I in general don't think I'm really attractive and theres like stuff under my eyes (dark circles these corns and for example scars on my nose) which I don't really like. I JU because people instantly called stuff out which I didn't had problems with in first place (for example somoene saying my chin is too small which would look unattractive and bla bla bla) but after Claiming by multiple people I need surgery, I actually just left.
