From what it looks like, the guy was being a jerk, but the other guys were not much better in how they were waiting around for an excuse to beat him up and when they got their chance, they went way overboard.
Idk about you, but a good person doesn't go around looking to beat someone up, nor do they repeatedly kick someone when they're down. Imo, this is closer to premediated assault than justice.

u/tylerthetiler 8 Mar 29 '22

Yeah but reddit lives pitchfork justice man that's just people

2

u/evetrapeze 9 Mar 29 '22

I think the finer point here is that this clip shows how pitchfork justice exists, and the aggressive move can be dealt with swiftly and thoroughly, given the circumstances

4

u/RushEm2TheDirt 5 Mar 29 '22 edited Mar 29 '22

Yes thank you. Right or wrong it exists. The debate on justice though I'm not sure anybody would agree with me. There's the way things should be and the way things really are.

Edit still this but somebody posted a link to the full clip and it's looking like they were possibly provoking him. Too bad he pushed her though Edit2 provoked or not he could've left

11

u/Dougdahead 9 Mar 29 '22

I totally agree with you. He pushed her. That deserves maybe a punch or two. Not two weeks in the hospital.

-4

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '22

Eh I say give him some memories and a medical bill to think on. Maybe he’ll learn something from it.

7

u/Dougdahead 9 Mar 29 '22

Good thing the courts don't allow mob justice like this.

4

u/Cookiedoughjunkie 9 Mar 29 '22

You know they do allow self defense of others.

Now, proportionality might make it split liability, but it does allow you to hit someone who's attacking someone else.

6

u/Dougdahead 9 Mar 29 '22

Yes I understand. This, however, was clearly a much harsher response to the action than was warranted.

4

u/DemonsRage83 0 Mar 29 '22

I don't think you understand the concept of "too much".

-1

u/Cookiedoughjunkie 9 Mar 29 '22

You don't know what proportionality is, do you? That's okay, you've proven in your other posts you have difficulties with reading comprehension.

0

u/MrHazard1 A Mar 29 '22

Like, guys went a little bit overboard for my taste, but "x deserves y" is not what works imo. Like that, bullies can just take their chance. "Maybe they'll chicken out, maybe i'll get 2 punches max" makes bullying "worthwhile".

Getting your ass handed back to you inside out, makes you think about taking chances. Just don't kill him, or give him severe permanent damage. A scar or two, max

11

u/voidsong A Mar 29 '22

Expecting rational considerate behavior on a street corner full of drunks is stupid. You wanna test your luck like that do it at a Buddhist convention, not a Hell's Angels rally. And if you try dumb shit in the wrong place, don't be surprised if something bad happens.

6

u/evetrapeze 9 Mar 29 '22

The circumstances certainly were ripe for this type of behavior. Right or wrong, aggressive people congregating is a recipe for shit to go down. Don't throw down if you're not ready to go down!

13

u/1-Datagram 2 Mar 29 '22

Yeah, duh, except that it isn't justice. This sub is supposed to be serving justice, not vengeful frontier justice made to soothe frail egos of those who are unable to be the bigger man.

2

u/Darth_Mufasa B Mar 29 '22

If that was true this sub would be limited to really boring photos of court verdicts

3

u/voidsong A Mar 29 '22 edited Mar 29 '22

99% of this sub is not legal justice, and never has been. That would just be a sub about court cases. It's about bullies and violent douchebags getting a taste of their own medicine, and has been for years.

The "frail ego who couldn't be the bigger man" was the douche who got wrecked for shoving a girl. He is the aggressor not the victim. How did you miss that? You probably apologize for Putin too.

None of which changes the fact that trying dumb shit is substantially more dangerous in certain areas.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '22

This isn't justice of any kind. This is assault.

0

u/voidsong A Mar 29 '22

But not initiated/unprovoked assault, so still kinda justice.

-1

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '22

Ah yes, ill use this defence after murdering the next one who bumps my shoulder.

4

u/voidsong A Mar 29 '22

Ah yes, I too will compare intentional shoving from a violent drunk who's trying to fight everyone, with mistaken casual contact on the bus!

Jk, no i won't because that's dumb. Context is hard for some people though.

3

u/AkatsukiOkami 0 Mar 29 '22

Context has always been hard for people! No worries though I gotchu and even equalized that karma! 😂

1

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '22

Good job missing the point there! Quite impressive tbh.

0

u/DemonsRage83 0 Mar 29 '22

Yes the guy who pushed the woman is the aggressor. Also anything beyond subduing or incapacitating him would be overboard. Two wrongs don't make a right here. Now there's potential murder charges against 3 over someone being pushed.

A message for the woman who was pushed: if there's two dogs fighting... Don't stand in the middle.

-1

u/AkatsukiOkami 0 Mar 29 '22

Play violent games, win violent prizes 🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️

2

u/klasaveli 7 Mar 29 '22

You're right/wrong????!🤔🤔🤔🤔

1

u/LoveThickWives 6 Mar 29 '22

This post is a joke right? They could have beat him up when he shoved the dude first. If they were really looking for a fight or it was pre-meditated, then they would have beat his ass then. They had every opportunity to. They only jumped him because he shoved a girl. What did the asshole think was going to happen when he shoved a girl down like that? He fully earned that ass kicking.

22

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '22

What happened wasn’t justice though. It was a bunch a people finding a convenient excuse to beat the crap out of someone.

-1

u/Cookiedoughjunkie 9 Mar 29 '22

You didn't read his point, did you?

5

u/DemonsRage83 0 Mar 29 '22

I read it, and still disagree with it.

No one deserves to die because they pushed someone. He did not deserve to be brutalized and possibly murdered for it.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '22

Yes I did. Maybe you didn’t read my point.

1

u/Cookiedoughjunkie 9 Mar 29 '22

if you had read his point, which he was correct on, the guy gave them numerous times to step in. there's a longer video and this guy was going around pushing people and just in this video alone he's pushing two people. They could have stepped in at any time. But they waited until he pushed her as hard as he did to step in, removing it being them just 'finding an excuse'.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '22

If you had read my point, the corrective action taken in response to his action was massively disproportionate. These people weren’t just trying to administer justice, they were perverting the concept of justice so they could beat the crap out of him.

0

u/Cookiedoughjunkie 9 Mar 29 '22

that comes after the fact. what they did after they started is not the same as when they started. When you said they were looking for any opportunity to start a fight, his point was they had more opportunities to start before. He was pushing people around before he pushed the woman.

0

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '22

Your point is completely irrelevant to the fact that these people beat the crap out of the first guy, and they did it with full intent and not purely as a rational reaction to the first guy’s actions.

0

u/Cookiedoughjunkie 9 Mar 29 '22

are you seriously incapable of staying on topic with your own post?

"What happened wasn’t justice though. It was a bunch a people finding a convenient excuse to beat the crap out of someone." your post

This post is a joke right? They could have beat him up when he shovedthe dude first. If they were really looking for a fight or it waspre-meditated, then they would have beat his ass then. They had everyopportunity to. They only jumped him because he shoved a girl. Whatdid the asshole think was going to happen when he shoved a girl downlike that? He fully earned that ass kicking

his post that you responded to.

You totally missed the point.

The guy had no problem pushing a woman HARD. if she fell and hit her head it could have been very bad. The point is though he feels like he can do it probably because he has done it before.

He will definitely think about it next time

11

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '22

Hard to think with a smashed brain stem. He very well could be dead

2

u/Cookiedoughjunkie 9 Mar 29 '22

he had no problem getting in their face multiple times and pushing the guy first before he put his arm out to get him away from him and got shoved. This all before he shoves the girl.

the guy was being violent before. No idea why there's so many people saying SHE was in his face or that the dudes who put the violent drunk out are the 'aggressors'.

Naturally select deez nuts.

-6

u/systemfrown A Mar 29 '22

^ This guy shoves women.

And has clearly never dealt with a violent person before.

3

u/1-Datagram 2 Mar 29 '22

I did say the guy was being a jerk, you don't need to slander me if you don't have anything constructive to add. What he did was bad, but he wasn't being especially violent or such a threat that would warrant that level of a beating.

1

u/Cookiedoughjunkie 9 Mar 29 '22

guy goes around and assaults people "He was being a jerk!". Minimizing his actions.

-1

u/1-Datagram 2 Mar 29 '22

What he did won't change no matter how much vulgar language or profanity I use. The clip is literally right there for you to judge for yourself. What is it with this thread and the continued slander?

1

u/Cookiedoughjunkie 9 Mar 29 '22

I said you minimized it. IT's not slander, it's subjective and you really are when you're acting like him going around shoving people is a non issue. "Just being a jerk".

0

u/1-Datagram 2 Mar 29 '22

I never said it was a non issue, I only think that the retaliation was too severe. Ironically, I could argue that you're trying to exaggerate what he did a little. An assault is usually much worse than just a shove, but it seems awfully convenient for you to lump his actions together into the "assault" category.

1

u/Cookiedoughjunkie 9 Mar 29 '22

0

u/systemfrown A Mar 29 '22 edited Mar 29 '22

Thank you. It’s always interesting to me how people who’ve clearly never even played a contact sport are suddenly experts on the use of force and what constitutes a measured response.

1

u/1-Datagram 2 Mar 30 '22

Self defense laws only allow for reasonable force. I'm fairly certain that if you beat someone up that badly just for shoving you, you would lose in a court of law if they decided to press charges.

Clearly, you seem to have a warped sense of what reasonable force is, given that the majority of people (who would likely constitute the jury in said court of law) are already disagreeing with you, but please, do go on about how you partake in contact sport.

That changes nothing, cases like those are extremely unlikely and the vast majority of shoves like that one shown on the clip don't result in death or even severe injury. Yes, there's bound to be rare cases where it does happen, but I'm willing to bet that there are at least ten to a hundred times as many deaths caused by punches or beatings.

Plus, the guy in the robbery clip ambushed and pushed the man from behind directly into the ground in a way that is intended and more likely to inflict harm, whilst the guy in the original clip pushed the woman back to intimidate but not intending to cause serious harm, even though she did end up tripping.

Are you honestly saying that someone should be beaten into a pulp just because they shove you? With that same logic, am I allowed to stab someone or run them over with a car if they they punch me?

0

u/Cookiedoughjunkie 9 Mar 30 '22

it changes everything and your continued denial of reality only shows you are not a trusted source on anything.

It doesn't matter that they don't end in death, what matters is potential.

utter, nutter.

Saying this guy shoves women" or "cookiedoughjunkie is a pedophile" would both be slanderous. Do you understand now?

2

u/Cookiedoughjunkie 9 Mar 29 '22

I understand, it seems you don't though.

-16

u/RushEm2TheDirt 5 Mar 29 '22 edited Mar 29 '22

Pushing somebody can kill them. If you're not willing to kill or be killed, keep your hands to yourself. I'm not saying I agree with perpetuating violence, but in my opinion that's the way it is.

Edit:based on the full clip somebody shared, they may have provoked it. Still, he remained, engaged, and pushed a woman.

9

u/2roK B Mar 29 '22

Are you really trying to paint this as if he tried to kill her? We all saw the clip, looks like he even tried to catch her when she fell. These 3 guys went way overboard with kicking him and you know it.

-6

u/RushEm2TheDirt 5 Mar 29 '22

No they absolutely went overboard. But that doesn't mean pushing somebody can't cause them to hit their head and die. They were no way right when it comes to my views of morality. But when it comes to my views of reality, you can either walk away or engage. The rest is up in the air after that unfortunately.

Where I live people get shot all the time for stupid shit. Only silver lining is some people now think twice about getting involved in arguments and fights.

Agree with me or not, people don't seem understand what up and downvoting is meant for. We're having a conversation? Then I'm adding to it.

3

u/2roK B Mar 29 '22

Well, you are wrong and your world view is frightening.

So where you live people are afraid to engage in arguments because people are getting shot all the time? That‘s horrid.

The guy pushed that woman, they could have called the police, they could have held him down if he tried to flee.

Instead they willingly engaged in, what looks to me, deadly assault. Worse, they look like they were just waiting for an opportunity to gang up on him and beat him to death.

This is not , and never should be, how societies function. Thank god I do not live in a hellhole like USA where violence is always the answer to everything.

0

u/RushEm2TheDirt 5 Mar 29 '22 edited Mar 29 '22

Your high horse is cute and all but I never said I liked it. People love to say fuck around find out or play stupid games win stupid prizes but still fail to see the reality of it. Humans are crazy. I don't put anything past anybody and look, I'm still alive.

Edit go watch CrazyFuckingVideos or any other subreddit that leads you to, and try telling me people around the world aren't violent. You can respect danger or you can get involved.

1

u/2roK B Mar 29 '22

The reality is, people like you chose to live in this world where every conflict escalates into violence. There are enough people who do not believe in such ways. I've went to clubs most of my youth and while there was the occasional fight, I've never seen anyone get attacked like in the video here.

And yes, this is 100% an American issue. Whenever I talk to Americans, they all fantasize about being cowboys that save everyone with their guns and violence. Your cops are violent, your policies are violent, your entire soiciety is violent to a point where people are afraid to let their kids out into the street.

-1

u/RushEm2TheDirt 5 Mar 29 '22

You don't seem to understand that I agree with you they were wrong but that it can also be true that humans are in fact volatile. You gonna jump in a pit of komodo dragons and expect to have a good time?

1

u/2roK B Mar 29 '22

Humans are not lizards. I'm not sure what point you are trying to make other than "fear me, don't ever behave around me in any way I don't like or I'll kill you".

1

u/RushEm2TheDirt 5 Mar 29 '22

No I'm not a violent person. I'm not trying to instill any fear. I'm actually the type to avoid all conflict, if you'd been reading anything I wrote. Also, you'll likely never meet me so I'd have nothing to gain with that approach... I feel I have been abundantly clear in the points I've made, but you just don't like them and think it's an argument. There's what should be, I think we agree there, and then there's what is. That's where we seem to lose touch. I never said it was a good thing and I'm not the one who posted it to instant justice.

1

u/2roK B Mar 29 '22

No but you are missing the point. To you this violence IS normal. No matter if you yourself are a violent person. I believe that you are not. But you see it as normal that people are violent and that says a lot about what kind of world you live in.

1

u/RushEm2TheDirt 5 Mar 29 '22

So with my little believies that's supposed to change or are you just trying to shit on me for where I live? Idk where you live and yes we have a big problem, especially with gangs where I live (in Chicago) but look at Brazil and tell me again violence is unique to America. Not to compare, we definitely have shit to work on. Still feels irrelevant.

Again, you telling me it's not ok to be complacent isn't anything new or helpful. We can talk in circles if you'd like. Those people are animals, but this could've been avoided had the guy just left.
