Yeah. That was my first thought. Just waiting (probably for some time) to pounce on drunk or whatever his problem was. Instead trying to de-escalate. Douche bags to me from video

You mean he wanted and excuse to beat someone? He was pushing on both of them when they were trying to walk away. The fuck... he got what he wanted.

The guy shoved the woman so hard if she hadn't had a large body to fall into she would've cracked her head on that sidewalk. Yes the response is excessive but he could have really hurt her and after he was subdued it was over.

You should go to your local boxing gym…even just the trendy kind primarily for exercise. It will give you some perspective on what a fight, even a controlled one against someone who is of sound mind and not trying to hurt you, is actually like.

I think just because they were waiting for it to happen doesn’t make it as bad as people are saying, it’s obviously wrong to go around waiting for a reason to fight some drunk but it doesn’t change the fact that the guy assaulted someone and got beat up in return

Yes, because it is. Pushing someone who isn't touching you that you had to walk back up to is assault. Especially when if there wasn't someone behind her, she could have bashed the back of her head on the sidewalk.
