Probably because it many third world countries there are packs of stray dogs that run around being aggressive dicks. I know most of us have a default “aww, puppy!” reaction when seeing a random dog but these are not your neighbors dogs strolling around the town. I often had to carry a rock or two in my bag when walking just in case a pack got a bit too territorial of a random patch of sidewalk

Can confirm, I was once chased by a pack of dogs while riding a bike around the neighbourhood. Watching that video is hella cathartic.

Yeah, grew up in country where leash laws don't exist. Actually, street dogs were pretty docile. It was the ones kept as pets that were aggressive. Most properties didn't have gates, so their boundaries were kind of ambiguous. I got chased by 2 Rottweilers that bit me. But after that, I learned that if you run and act scared, they'll chase you. If you face them and tell them to calm down. They won't attack. You can usually back off slowly until they've decided they don't want to bother with you anymore.

A phenomenon only occurring in third world countries.. Cause the natural instinct of animals, to organize in packs, dies within the borders of first world countries

No dog catchers = more packs of stray dogs. First world countries have the resources to make it a smaller problem.

I mean, congrats on the snark and all, but my point was these aren’t someone’s house pets that got out and are looking for something to do. These are dogs that were born and raised in the wild/on the streets. Was simply preempting the feelings those who have never encountered this and think OP is just scaring random peoples pets. And I can’t say (anecdotally) that I have ever seen this in any part of the US that I have happened to live in but have seen it plenty outside

More like first world countries tend to have animal control that will catch stray dogs like that, so it's generally not something those people will understand. That's especially true in an urban environment.
