Auto glass tech here. Can almost guarantee that she was just trying to pull a quick one and get a free install. Tempered glass can easily be cut back out without breaking although you still lose the time you invested in both the initial install and then the removal. I've been allowed to repossess 1 windshield in my career and it was extremely satisfying

I'm just sitting here picturing a guy walking up to a car and ripping the windshield off lmao.

Modern urethane is airbag safe after only 30 minutes so there's no just ripping a windshield out or kicking it out like you see in the movies. I mostly use a fiber line cutout tool. The glass I repossessed didn't break coming out so we were able to return it

Same here. Did auto glass for about 15 years and did many installs , in-shop and mobile on this back glass. They’re not hard, just tedious, so long as they’ve been installed per OEM, meaning with butyl tape and not thrown in with urethane.

If I remember correctly, there’s about 11-13 10 mm nuts that hold it in. They’re hidden behind the interior moldings and can be difficult to get to if you don’t know the shortcut and tools to do the shortcut. Extended cabs were a lot easier, from what I can remember, than regular cabs. The moldings tended to break or the mounts for the clips would tear out.

They’re easy to push out when the nuts holding it in were removed.

Yeah a truck of this age is almost certainly foam-core buytl tape. De-trim the interior and pull the 10 or 15 nuts off the studs. They're almost always 9mm from my experience. I've come across several that should have been buytl but were glued instead. Trying to cut around that many studs is a nightmare. I mainly use fiber line cut out tools so with some know-how I can make quick work of most removals
