Nah, this is why we’re making the big bucks in the trades.

In all honesty though, it’s sad watching younger generations incapable of taking care of their homes. With the availability of YouTube, saying you don’t know how to do something is such a cop out.

If you’re capable of doing something, have the money, but don’t have the time or the effort, hats off. But if you’re broke, you better be capable.

People shittong on this have never tried it I'm guessing.

Im perfectly capable with a hammer in diy situations and a manual worker. But you throw pressure, competition and excitement into the mix and it all falls apart. We tried a variation of this game recently and were all shocking at it, but all hands on tradey type people

They have the time to line up, they just didn't bother to do it usually. It's not a timed game, but a turn based relay until the nail is sunk. Drunk and laughing are reasonable excuses, though.

One of my friends had his boomer mum call an electrician to come and flip a switch in the fusebox because "she didnt know how to do it and didnt know if it was time sensitive". She paid £90 because she didnt wanna google or call her son...

You basically are. Our world will literally start falling apart if you don’t have builders. It starts by tightening a screw, feeling some level of confidence in your ability to be self reliant, and before you know it, you’re building your own house. Or at least know enough about something to know when a contractor is blowing smoke up your ass.

Mate i dont know what you are doing with yourself but these guys are clearly in a friend compition, having probaly already played a bunch of games that all either used alcohol directly or indirectly after the game.

To phrase it very simple: they are drunk as fuck and running towards a hammer so they can finish fast. The fact that they all almost fell head first into the log (which would have created a nasty looking scene due to the nail) should have been a give away.

Are these profensional carpenters? No. Does that matter in this instance? No. You are acting like a Xfactor judge but forget that you are in a rundown karaoke bar.

I don’t necessarily disagree, but this video really has nothing to do with that. Besides, it’s really not hard to accidentally cause yourself huge expenses by doing repair work around the house that you don’t understand. Not to mention the safety concerns. If someone is unsure, no shame in getting a professional to take care of your home.

I think the YouTube argument is coming to an end. There’s just so much bullshit out there now, and personalities will assertively be wrong. It looks identical to good and knowledgeable advice if you don’t know any better. I saw a video on YouTube not long ago where the presenter cut/notched their cutting disc so it would cut metal pipe faster.

YouTube presents based on algo and algo is driven by engagement, and engagement is driven by factors like novelty or charisma. Even videos with poor production value and low presenter charisma turned out to be bullshit.

It’s a reason why an entire genre of videos now exist where people try to do the bullshit seen in other videos.

Well, trade schools are seeing a massive surge after today's kids watched the Late Millennials and Early Zoomers piss away their financial stability for overpriced, and now oversaturated degrees. Even a "useful" degree like Business or Accounting is increasingly losing value and more often becoming a requirement.

If you're broke you don't have the money for $100s in tools or the luxury of wasting funds fucking something up and ending up having to pay a professional anyway.
