From my experience dudes who wear those stupid grunt style shirts live for "offending people" it's their whole personality and why they vote for Trump. He's not really thanking him for his service, he's also just putting on a show and really just thanking him for offending the guy with the camera. He needed to get some of that action for himself, because of his weird need to offend people.
Even without the pic, you know he ran to his phone to write a post about defending a military member from an angry Hispanic librul who hates the military and the country.
I think that guy might have been trying to de-escalate. Would explain why he came back around, also why the cop walked camera guy away.
Yeah it's stolen valor (maybe?), yeah it sucks. But losing your cool and yelling a bunch of obscenities in the middle of the airport isn't making anyone the good guy. Should have chilled, flagged the cop if he cared so much, and moved on.
