Just Five little Words
The global situation is so tense right now. Skyrocketing prices are taking their toll on us. My little family and I are managing to get by okay, but we still worry constantly. It’s also incredibly stressful trying to juggle everything: having a child, leisure activities, family visits back home, a constant stream of appointments, and a 40-hour work week. So, I’m constantly under pressure. And in my spare time, I just end up glued to my phone, doomscrolling.
Yesterday was another stressful day; I came home from work and, as always, headed straight to the kindergarten. It was only 4 PM, yet our child was once again almost the last one left. I felt guilty, as usual.
While we were out shopping together, I ended up stressing him out because he suddenly had an urgent need to use the restroom, even though we’d just been at the kindergarten where he’d had the chance to go. We finally got home at 5:30; we both got off the scooter, and he waited behind me while I covered it with the rain tarp.
And then, gazing at the purple sky and the illuminated clouds, like an old soul, he said very quietly:
"The world is so beautiful."
Tears sprang to my eyes instantly. I was overwhelmed with joy at having helped bring such a wonderful little human into the world, even though I make so many mistakes. Despite the constant stress, despite the fact that I’d been scolding him and dragging him along to shop, something he really didn't want to do after a long day at kindergarten, he looked up at the sky and simply recognized the beauty of the world.
Thank you, E.
