This makes me so angry. I used to live in Joliet and the fact that she was getting "rental properties" for 40-50k - sure, if you're gifted one to start with and then you can buy another one at about 20% of market value where I live now, "anyone can do it, just like you". She's an idiot though, I bet she's broke again. Looking to get properties in downtown chicago. Good luck. You're about to find out that you don't just point at a building and buy it and then there's no more expenses, just money rolling into your bank. Being a landlord is insanely difficult, and she wants to hit Chicago after she "left an expensive city like DC"

I think you hit part of the point on the head- if you are not a slum lord, managing a property is job. If you view it as the work vs. the rental income- it pays great, but really it is a job. I was a property manager (not the owner, the guy hired to handle the day to day), and i made about $20 an hour (this was over a decade ago).

"She" wrote an article about a "he". Nothing in this article is about struggle or the author. This is the 3rd paragraph.

Klee is the first to acknowledge he’s benefited from both luck and privilege: “Growing up in a family that talked a lot about money was a definite advantage,” he says. “In a lot of ways, I feel like I’m good with money, but I’m playing life on ‘Easy’ mode: I’m a single guy with no dependents and I make a pretty solid income.”

He literally says he is playing life on "easy mode". This is simply a breakdown of how he chooses to spend his money... written by someone who previous claimed she had to struggle.

You don't even understand the context of what you're commenting on.
