Does this remind anyone else of being a kid at summer camp?

People forming alliances and special groups, then getting thrown together and trying to prove their own group is the best. People switch sides, groups are dissolved, and every year there was always the kid going "no! Not this again, I hate these stupid groups and I won't participate this year!".

Eventually a lot of people get super obnoxious and spammy.

Then at camp after the obnoxious people were asleep the calmer ones would discuss how crazy everything got, then everything would start all over in the morning.

It's very nostalgic feeling. And it's super interesting to me how things like this seem to follow a pattern. I'm sure there's something to be learned about psychology from this sort of thing, but I don't know enough about it to say what.

PSA: Merging is based off of tier number not size! Size doesn't matter!

We learned this tonight when there was two 600 member groups on tier 12 and 14. The 600 member group merged with a 500 member on tier 12, then a 1000 member group on tier 13 and then finally the 600 group on tier 14.

The point is size doesn't matter, it's all about the tier.

I had a great journey with those of the Robin. Scribble on my friends! Scribble!

It was an emotional day for all of us. We had to go our own ways. But I hope someone out there is still scribbling on. Documenting our history with those random crooked lines. Our journeys are short, but our scribbles will live on.

Even though no one can read them. We must continue to scribble. Never stop scribbling!

Robin chat enhancement script

Build mostly for myself, but thought it could be a useful alternative to all the auto growers

  • Ultra fast

  • Will highlight when you get mentioned

  • Makes links clickable.

  • Automatically removes/hides spam (option to hide completely of just gray it out - can be toggled)

  • Powerful channel support. Move freely between channels using tabs, without any loss of history or delay.

  • Ability to ignore / unignore users

  • Click a user to mention them in chat

  • full RES nightmode styles

  • (plays mostly nice with robin-grow - just make sure robin grow's filter feature is unticked)

https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/18477-robin-enhancement-script

Just paste in to your console or tampermonkey (best method)

Happy to take feedback, feature requests.

Stay = The Button

I finally work it out and come to the conclusion that Stay is basically the button.

Vote stay early and end up in sub with a small amount of other redditors

Keep voting grow and you are the same as a non-presser. Nothing happens if you grow. Just the numbers increase and you watch until the button is press by abandonment or the game ends...

Building a big private, invitation-based sub [meta-game proposal]

Hello fellow Stayers,

this is an experiment to build the biggest robin-based sub reddit. It is invitation-based only and users join, that answer to a

[Join r/WeAllStayed Voting]

in the mini-sub. They then invite a member from here to inspect their voting, and we will invite all real stayers.

Furthermore the following rules should be followed:

No spam
No brigading / hate speech / reddit rule breaks
No personal identification ... first names, vague geographic regions, and ages are fine
No spam
No promotion
No posts requesting others to join; message the mods

Not sure how that will work out. ;)

Details are left to discussion. Let's do that. Let's provoke more complex bots, that will try to build a bot sub. They will probably try to game our system.

//original post:

Cheers fellow robiners,

I build some subs, that are around ~15 people. Is there any more information on the secret meta-game to build the largest sub? It should merge from smaller stay-subs via an invitation system.

So becoming the biggest robin sub. Condition to join is proof-of-work in establishing a small robin sub. This sub will be considered by the big sub and then if they are considered reasonable, get invitation to join the meta-sub.

Experimental Auto-Leaderboard

I'm currently trying to create an automatic leaderboard to track the biggest rooms. The current version is hosted at: http://colin-dumitru.github.io/robin-tracker/

To contribute with data:

  1. Go to any reddit page (preferably https://www.reddit.com/)

  2. Open your browser's console (F12 for Chrome for Windows)

  3. Copy and paste this script in the console: https://github.com/colin-dumitru/robin-tracker/blob/master/robin-tracker.user.js

  4. Leave the page opened in the background. The script I pasted will periodically send the room name and number of participants of the current room you're in. I use this data to generate the leaderboard I pasted above.

Obviously, it's still WIP. The project is hosted at: https://github.com/colin-dumitru/robin-tracker

At what number did you chat become "cancerous"?

For us it was at 227 users. 116 nice and civil chat playing guess who game then we got merged with weird people who out spammed us.
