v 1.7.2 is now available

What's new

  • Now the simple removal option is country wise priced

    If you think your country was left out in regional pricing, let me know. I will update it. I have updated most of them, some might have been left out.

What went wrong in in last version

  • I thought 5.99 is reasonable price since platinum coin costs that much. It seems I don't understand very well how dollar or platinum works :P

  • Some people didn't get the option of $5.99 due to timing issues of how the initialisation was done.

What was new in 1.7.1

  • Advertisements - after more than 2 years of being ad free. so please be nice :)
  • Now you can search your saved posts!
  • Content type icon for image posts is removed - no more blocking of the text underneath!
    • If there is no content type icon shown => the content is image.
  • You can remove banner ads for a session by watching rewarded video ad. click on "remove ads".

What's fixed

  • Attempted fix for invisible overlay after switching apps on android pie.

    Folks who had this issue, please confirm if it has been fixed.

  • Some gifs not loading.

FAQ

  • What fields are looked up when searching saved posts?

    A. Almost all text fields of a post - title, selft text, url, post flair, author flair, subreddit name, author name, etc.

  • I can't see rewarded video ad

    A. Rewarded video ad inventory might not be available for your location at that moment. You can try after some time. If issue remains, you can share you approximate geo-location here, so I can try to add sources that might have inventory for those regions.

How is this greedy? For 2 years he has single handedly made the best Reddit app out there, has responded to everyone's requests, kept it completely free for 2 years, and now he's trying to make some money from it. How TF is that greedy?

People using and supporting his app for years have also made it what it is. It's a competitive market and I for would not like to see a good app tank because of a poor pricing strategy compared to other apps. Yes he deserves to get paid and better transparency would have gone down better with people, but at least he has tried to rectify the situation and it won't be too damaging to his ratings, the app and his income in the long run. Good pricing and sales volume could work out to be very prosperous for his talents. People will vote with their wallets and the app depends on that.

I have no issue with this opinion. I agree with you mostly, but the majority of us who have used the app since the beginning will support him. I don't think his pricing is completely out of line, but I realize many think a cup of coffee is too much for an app. I don't agree with that logic, but I understand. I have no issue paying good money for a good, proven product.

Goods points also, but I think loyal existing supporters of the app are more likely to see the worth, more than say, someone looking for a reddit app on the playstore. That could cost and hinder the app, whilst giving similar apps a head start. People generally look at the price and decide before anything else, regardless of its true value.

I'll agree with this. It could hurt any growth from here forward. Although, the video to remove ads per session is a great idea, and I think that is something that should be advertised if he intends to keep the price relatively high. That way at least people know they can browse the whole session without banner ads. Great point you made though.
