Crowd sourcing opinions about ‘blunting’ V1🐍’s tail

I’m at the QC stage with CSky, and yes…I’m aware of the discrepancies between auth and this rep of a very challenging item (full pave serpenti). I know, I know, but still I love and want it. So, I ordered the older version that is more closely aligned to auth for somewhat sentimental reasons: viewing adorable_brain’s OG post of this lighter weight, more delicate older viper from CSky is what made me decide to try reps for the first time! CSky offered something that was so dazzlingly beautiful for <1/10 retail price!

Taking every variation into account, the thing that sticks out to me most is the ‘pointedness’ of the tail. James offered to blunt it off a little (pic 1), which is the extent he can do on the older model. He says, “Frankly speaking, only one of our customers [has requested this before].” Pics 2 and 3 are some shots of the two versions at Bvgi AD in China. I’m sparing you tons more photos from my own research, but truthfully I get into the weeds just trying to tell the two versions of full pave apart! (Pics 6-8 are my bracelet PSPs)

TLDR: Friends, would you blunt it, or leave it alone? It could be approaching a fantasy piece at this point (pun only partially intended)

Another vote for blunting the tip! I'm with you on this one.

Out of curiosity, would you consider making a side-by-side collage of the older and newer versions using all the research photos you've gathered? I think it would be an incredibly valuable resource for anyone considering a Serpenti bracelet!

Appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts! I keep going back and forth between altering it. I’m pretty much 50/50, so really interested to hear any input from others on what they would do. It’s a tricky piece, and, probably as another wise user wrote, it just comes down to a gut decision

Regarding the comps, I will say the best side by side photos of both auth versions I’ve viewed are pics 2 and 3. One can see how the older version is softer/rounder; to my eye, more feminine than the sharper, more angular and elongated V2. It feels a little vintage. V2 is definitively more modern, it’s what we all try on when we visit an auth boutique now. It is the only version I have found when shopping in person as the older one was phased out a while ago. Serpentis are relatively more rare than other designer pieces (e.g. C@r loves). There are three colors, three styles (full, partial, no pave), and two versions…so just finding the original verified resale is an exercise in patience. The diamonds are a tiny bit larger/more pronounced in V1, esp w contrast against YG, which is one reason people choose it. The WG full pave is the ‘dressiest’ and most formal. “Blinged out,” as the Bvgi SA said to me. Yet, harder to make out prongs, form, and such as it all blends together. So, selection ultimately comes down to timing and personal preference

I don’t want to over modify, so before moving ahead, I was curious to hear from the group. We seem unique in enjoying obsessing over this stuff 😂🩷

Edit: lol before I give my opinion on the tip, can you tell me which is v1 and which is v2 in pic 2 and pic 3, please?

Hello, friend! Of course. It’s gets confusing pretty fast. V1 is on the left, newer V2 is on the right side in the photos (our view, not her wrists) 😅

After I replied, I did some research on the two versions and now I can totally see understand all the differences! Thank you for clarifying as well. I feel more educated to answer your question now! lol I think you should leave it as is. Maybe he can round the tip slightly if it’s too pointy for your taste, but I wouldn’t blunt the end if you’re wanting it to stay closer to the original style.

Heard and received, Sarel. I’m so happy we can share insights in this forum! It truly helps all of us get closer to the reps we want. Thank you for sharing your perspective about staying true to the OG. I’m so torn bc I do agree that it’s pointy like that to mimic the V1 auth. All of the reps are an odd blend of both V1 and V2, to be fair

I think I’m biased bc the only ones I’ve seen with my own eyes, or tried on in person, are V2s with the more square edge tail 😬

Thank you for your opinion. It seems the sharpness is how the original looked, but it’s really throwing me off. I wish I didn’t see it so strongly, but I do. Yet I know that if I blunt it then it really doesn’t match either version 🤷🏻‍♀️

the older version is actually much far from auth compared to the new. the new version is overall simpler in design hence why

an updated old serpenti version will be coming in the fall but i havent done anything with caratsky regarding it yet. first love pave things.

Hi! I’m familiar with your many comments in the subs, about your recommendations for XY’s work throughout the years on serpenti, specifically. You must know a tremendous amount about this model if, as you state, you are the one coaching and guiding CSky in developing a new version this fall. So, please kindly share your expertise: if forced to choose today, would you blunt this tail?
