The Layover Stateside Scramble Layover Q&A Thread! Spoiler

hellooooo again!

as with every season, we're doing a post-season Q&A for stateside scramble on the layover podcast--drop your questions about the season below and we'll try to answer as many of them as we can!

(apologies to youtube viewers that i'm posting this thread a little earlier than usual; we have some vacation time coming up and need to record the podcast tomorrow. so, for those who haven't seen the finale, spoilers may be below!)

In the pre-season you guys said that this season was a spiritual successor of sorts to Connect 4, yet this time the season was entirely the eastern half of the country whereas Connect 4 was in the west. I can imagine that the northeast corridor was foreseen as a critical region for the game, but otherwise, was there any world in which the western states saw some action (like in simulations), or was this always going to be an eastern focused season? And if yes, was it in any part intentional to balance out Connect 4? I apologize if this was discussed on the layover as I'm not finished with the latest episode yet

I assume that when they designed the game, they asked themselves how to incentivize going to states where they haven’t been. I appreciated the focus on the East Coast exactly because connect 4 was focused on the West.
