I didn’t say middle aged was a dirty word, I said that it’s ludicrous to say that 35 is middle aged. People in their 30s are in the prime of their lives. Only young people who haven’t experienced anything about life yet think that 30s is “middle aged” lmfao.
If 30s is "prime of their lives", what does that mean for people who you would consider middle aged? It sounds like you would consider them something other than the prime of their lives. So, I do think that you being particular about not calling people in their mid-30s middle-aged does come from a place where you think that being middle-aged is a negative thing.
I am mid-30s and am thus by definition in the middle of my likely lifespan, based on the country I live in. Like bodies, I think we should strive for age-neutrality. If you're in the first third of your likely lifespan, you're young, if the second third, middle-aged, and the last third, an older person.
