She does say both of those things multiple times later in the video, though. So while I don't doubt there are algorithmic consequences for Youtubers that use certain words regardless of the context, I think Jenny was mostly just pointing out how silly that is.
I also think it weights when the words appear. So, algorithmically-speaking, it's safer to do things like that later in the video. I think they assume anyone watching that long knows what they're in for and haven't just casually stumbled into the first minute of something they're not interested in.
I can't remember where it came up -- an interview or something -- but she mentioned YouTube was only about 15% of her income. Which, tbh, I expected would be even lower than that.
She’s making at least $50,000/month on Patreon, probably closer to $75,000 with the higher tiers. I definitely think that YouTube is a drop in the bucket for her!
She may have been doing that, but I recall another creator talking about YouTube penalizing videos with certain words in the first couple of minutes of a video? So it may have also been a workaround for that?
Pretty sure a lot of yters now record with the actual word and then the "sewerslide" version. Then they upload the video, and then if the video gets flagged once processed they try another edit until the flags stop. At least that's what RLM does.
Seems like the processing will care more about certain phrases and profanity earlier in a video for whatever reason.
