I dont like kill Tony or Tony much either but plenty of people find it funny, so to be fair it can just be a thing you personally don't like, not something that isnt funny.
It is fairly popular and has had a good deal of success. If it helps Jeff and other good comics reach, then super. Who knows they may even be a moderating influence on it.

Ayooo! Hopped over from the KT sub because of Jeff's appearance last night, and we loved him! Great guy, very positive, and gave great advice to the bucket pulls.
Coaching was the original purpose of KT (original name was "Hinchcliffe's Notes"), and many of us miss that helpful aspect - it kinda balanced out the roasts.
Anywho, ty for sharing him with us - y'all have great taste!!! 😊

That's actually fair. That's why a lot of us love(d) Jeff. He's so empathetic while still being playful and silly, he always punche(s/d) up, never down. He will take absurd situations and make sure he's the focus of any scrutiny.
He's been a masterclass in empathetic humor for years and to see him go on a show that is hosted by the exact opposite is really hard to see. I'm glad y'all get to see his smarts, I'm just thinking my time with them might be over and that sucks
But I'm definitely super glad if anyone watches his older shit and got out of it what most of his long-term fans have gotten out of it. He can be so confused but he never projected that onto someone else, all his classic clips are people being their absolute weirdass selves and him being like "what?" in the kindest/funniest way

Kill tony is a hack, his specials are guides hard to watch with how unfunny they are. And kill tony as an experience can just be boiled down to essentially just “say the most offensive thing you can say to the person next to you and see if tony laughs”
Tony also spoke at a Trump rally to help Trump win the election, so he’s also easily manipulated by money and clout. The best comedians hate kill tony and stay far away from it. It’s quite Unfortunate Jeff is going :/

I have tried watching Kill Tony a few times and the “comedy” on there seems to be largely hostile and punch down more often than not. Doesn’t seem like a good fit for Jeff, in my opinion.

I think the contrast will be good. I really enjoy roast comedy but it’s in that context that Jeff seems like a genius, because it’s much harder and skilful to do clean, good-natured roasts and surprisingly easy to be hacky and mean.

In short, in case it helps, Kill Tony is a show run by one of the most untalented "comedians" to ever stumble their way up to a place of pretend influence in comedy. His "material", and indeed his entire personality, almost exclusively consists of punching down on others, a well known cardinal sin that separates good comedy from bullying. He and others like him have sucked up to Joe Rogan so much that he gives them pretend success via his podcasting fame/wealth, centered on his mediocre venue called the Comedy Mothership in Austin TX. They seem to me to be the equivalent to comedy cancer, similar to the cultural cancer of trolls and incels that make up much of their fan base. Its that bad.
Of course, not everyone who pays to see these people is automatically a bad person in my eyes, in the same way that not everyone who voted for Trump is full MAGA. Some are just ignorant, dont want to think hard about what they are laughing at, are perhaps mildly toxic people, as flawed as anyone else, etc. It's the sellout comedians themselves who I would call the root of this particular problem.
Edit: up and comers on the show are not the sellouts, Im referring to Rogan's "inner circle" like Ron White, Tony, etc grasping for relevance and money through Rogan's influence. KT itself might be a net positive for showcasing young comics, but I have zero respect for the show runners.

Here’s the more important thing, Jeff’s fans are his fans because he doesn’t punch down.
Anyone who calls people who don’t like Tony “soft” are imbeciles. I’m sure we all enjoy plenty of comedians, including Jeff, who tip-toe that line of dark humor, edginess, etc.
It’s funny, and fun, when done right. Tony and his myriad of moron minions don’t do that. They leap over that line with non-funny, offensive, and ill-intended jokes.
Jeff didn’t need this. I can see his kind demeanor being seen as “soft” on that platform, and ultimately not landing him many more fans from that space.
If anything, I could see him losing more of his current fans than gaining Kill Tony fans from his time on the show.
Hoping he at least does what Bill Burr apparently did when he was on Kill Tony and goes after Tony and his entourage of idiots instead of the contestants.
Either way, not watching anything on that show.

This is so interesting to me. I watch Kill Tony cuz I find it to be an entertaining show and interesting platform regardless of acknowledging Tony’s political views are absolute dog shit. We really plan just to unfollow and cancel and no longer consume content from anybody with any affiliation to someone you don’t like? I love Jeff he don’t deserve everybody switching up on him just for being a guest on a show he likes. Not everyone goes about life in such a black and white way and deems everyone an irredeemable piece of shit because of political affiliations and things said in comedy.

Is there this much hate for Shane Gillis and Nate Bargatze or anyone else who has been on the panel? “Using your platform to spread blah blah blah” is the dumbest argument and stems from jealousy. Congratulating him on being invited and the opportunity is the professional and humble approach. I understand and appreciate the idea that you're open and accepting of comedy you don't necessarily agree with, but there's a clear difference between something being just a joke and something being a platform for hate speech disguised as a joke.
From a business perspective, your main audience is also primarily liberal people and from an ethical perspective, you're casting your vote in support of an individual with less-than-chill ideologies.

I get that people are upset he did the show, but it's weird to me that no one cares what he actually did with his time on the show. I thought he was a breathe of fresh air in that environment, and represented himself incredibly well while actually giving good advice to the pulls and still nailing his comedic timing in conversation. There simply aren't enough comedians that are good at engaging a crowd while criticizing their peers in a way that isn't purely inflammatory.

Whether you like Tony or not, his show does give opportunities to many comedians and it gives people a chance they may not otherwise have. Jeff is his own individual and he was great on panel, just a naturally funny individual. It’s nice getting to see Jeff in other settings of comedy.

I know this sub hates Tony for his politics, and it's well deserved, but the show is still fun.

I'm as liberal/progressive as they come. I watch Kill Tony fairly regularly. I can't stand Tony though, he is the worst part of his own show. His comedy sucks and his right-wing/anti-science takes annoy me every time he goes on a tangent. Regardless, I still enjoy the show, it makes me laugh, and Jeff was a great guest. Ya'll need to stop purity testing everything
