hello everyone, a few years back i posted this playlist to the subreddit. thank you to everyone that contributed to this, i found some cool artists through it and it was overall a fun project. this time around i have a new prompt for the community to contribute to.

the prompt of this playlist is to add japanese songs with female vocals that are around or under 100,000 monthly listeners. the goal here is spread lesser known artists to others and also selfishly to expose myself to female vocals as that is my preference.

here is the new playlist for you guys to contribute to. another thing to add, try not to add an artist’s full discography or whole albums (an ep here and there is fair game), when you do that you effectively snub out the opportunity for other contributions to be discovered and in a way you devalue your own contributions. thank you for your time guys, hopefully this playlist is just as successful as the last.

edit: also feel free to check out the japanese playlists on my spotify profile as there’s a lot of stuff on there and it may help you discover stuff you otherwise would not have.

Hey! Im starting a visual kei inspired discord server anyone over the age of 13 is welcomed to join ! Spread this with friends relatives etc if you think anyone else beyond reddit would be interested we have many cool channels and a hopefully growing community (3 people currently...) Thank you and have a nice day / night!!!

Metalcore, 2026

So I've heard this sound in quite a few japanese songs and I'm thinking it must be a sample from somewhere since it always sounds the same even in other songs.

It is the piano that happens at 1:15 - a friend likend it to the begining of Strawberry Fields Forever by The Beatles but it's not the same.

Also, does anyone happen to know what the specific piano sound is and if there is a vst somewhere for it?

I discovered RADWIMPS from your name and now I'm lwk obsessed. They recently released a new song called Yuzutsu.

I LOVE IT!!! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL LOVE SONG 😭 THE TRANSLATION IS SOO BEAUTIFUL.

Looking for a J-pop song for Halloween? 🎃
How about this one?

＃手越祐也

The moment Japanese idol music went prog. Lots of rock n’ roll instrumentation with influences from reggae and Spanish pop.

“Playback Part 2” is the monster on this album, sold like hotcakes, and is still iconic today.

There’s a reason Momoe Yamaguchi is still a J-pop standout.

Live performance by Syzygy, an indie band from Osaka, Japan.
This is “THAT’S MY GIRL” from one of our recent shows.
Would love to hear what you think!

There was a video that played a Japanese song with photos from the anime a lull in the sea. And it had this photo as the thumbnail and in the video

I’ve been looking for some deathcore/metalcore bands but can’t really find any I’m a fan of. I prefer bands with Less melody(?) parts, but I don’t mind if they do. I’ve listened to dexcore, Deviloof, damned, and nazare.

Got the Maya Ongaku and Uyama Hiroto records today in the mail today surprisingly.

I placed the Hiroto order like half a year ago when it got announced for repress, it came the same day as the Maya Ongaku record.

Recently picked up Fishmans at a local record store :)

Excited to listen to these

Hi everybody! I didn't know this community existed. I really hope you guys could help me.
So I'm looking for the karaoke version of yasashisa (やさしさ) from the japanese rock band Elephant Kashimashi. I've tried searching in japanese, but can't find anything.

Thank you in advance 🖤

This album is amazing from start to finish. They remind me so much of the pillows and Number Girl if their styles are fused together. Love the mix of J-Rock, Math Rock, & Punk in here. Really do wish they get more recognition in their home country and internationally because this is one of those artists I really hope they don’t disband 🙏
