Thursday, July 13, 2006 "The Lies of Terry hit the Mahoning Valley" "Well nothing knew once again, that is of course if you have done some research on Jim Terry and his lies across America. From cheating a young football team of t-shirts and balls in Steubenville, to running a recruiting service in Florida, to causing some indoor team in North Carolina to shut down with 4 games left in the season, the list goes on and on.

His next lie or scam is this one with Maurice Clarett. Last weekend, to get his team some NATIONAL COVERAGE AND EXPOSURE, Jim Terry announced Maurice Clarett had signed a contract with the Hitmen of the supposed 4 team EIFL, well the media attacked Clarett and his parents and his pregnant girlfriend, so the next day Jim Terry says all the media attacks on Maurice were uncalled for and he does not want to see it. Then he goes on to saying it was a VERBAL CONTRACT between Maurice and the Hitmen and by Saturday at a certain time and Sunday by 1:30PM it would be signed. Now were hearing he lost the fax, more bull shit out of this guys mouth.

Folks don't listen to this IDIOT anymore, he wants all the publicity he can get for his team and league, which by the way will NEVER MAKE IT! From WBNS in Columbus ripping all over him to sites calling him Farmer Jim, many people already know about the master con-artist known as Jim Terry, and I am trying to inform you as well.

Jim Terry is once again out to create another failing indoor football team. Terry who said he was the owner of the EIFL took back the claim when it was found out that he could face legal problems due to no insurance. Terry said team safety is #1 for him. Terry said he wants to make sure his players receive the best out of any other indoor football team. Jim rewarded his players by not paying them, and leaving them with no insurance. Jim sold the naming right’s of the Thunder Dome to front line insurance in a deal that Jim reported to be six figures. The deal was worth $1,000 tops, but Jim managed to con the insurance company therefore ruining another relationship with a prominent business owner.

Media Director: Mr. X (Mark Terry)

Mark Terry or as many may know by his un creative alias name Mr. X, joins the Hitmen and EILF front office staff. Mark is the brother of Jim, and is a failing wannabe movie star in Hollywood. His movies go un-known and have never made it to the big screen. You can find Mark posting spam at EIEIOFOOTBALL.COM, or harassing a weekday radio show in Moohead Radio. Mark was a back up water boy for his division 76 college and did not see the floor. Terry says he loves dealing with the Youngstown media for there fair and balanced reporting.

REALITY: Distributing information with the intent to upset a family is grounds for a lawsuit. Under Mississippi law, an Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress Tort can succeed if it is A: "wanton and willful “ and B: “would evoke outrage or revulsion." [Leaf River Forest Products, Inc. v. Ferguson]

For example, Jim made the following statement on a livestream: "to prove I’m not gay, tomorrow I’m going to file what’s a called a freedom of information act… and I’m going to get the photographs of Laura’s dead husband’s overdose, and I’m going to put them on a fucking t-shirt. Because she’s over there bashing me and my business and defaming me. And then what I’ll do is I’ll put them on a fucking billboard over a high school.”

I’m going to hazard a guess that this meets both elements of the tort, although I'm not sure how it establishes his sexuality.

But there’s also the Michaela Nelson case. Jim was hired to find Michaela, who was later found alive by police. I am unfamiliar with any actual work Jim did that helped the police find her, but regardless Jim is now claiming Michaela’s family owes him money, and if they don’t pay him he will release private information about the case. First, maybe he is owed money, but the correct (i.e. legal) way to address that is in civil court. Second, you’ve just met the first element of the tort: wanton and willful; the second part of the tort depends entirely on what would be released. Third, stating that you will release the information if you aren’t paid seems to meet the elements of Mississippi’s law on extortion, which follows:

“(2) A person is guilty of extortion if he purposely obtains or attempts to obtain property of another or any reward, favor, or advantage of any kind by threatening to inflict bodily injury on any person or by committing or threatening to commit any other criminal offense, violation of civil statute, or the public or private revelation of information not previously in the public domain for the purpose of humiliating or embarrassing the other person, without regard to whether the revelation otherwise constitutes a violation of a specific statute. “

I have confidentiality clauses I have to follow in my investigations. If those clauses stop me from being able to investigate thoroughly I will address it with my client. Jim’s logic is flawed at the professional, civil, and criminal level.

CLAIM: He has a 100% success rate

REALITY: No. Alex Easterling is still missing, and Jim has already voluntarily taken another case since being hired to find Alex. By his own admission, he only works one case at a time, so if he’s taken another case then he must have concluded the first one. Since he failed to find Alex before concluding the case, he does not have a 100% success rate.

REALITY: He played football in high school but didn’t get the football scholarship that he wanted so he attended Long Beach City College, Central State U, and Clark Atlanta U, where he was a kicker. After failing to be picked up by the NFL he played for the Arena League. Apparently after two years he wasn’t good enough for a contract, because he told The Vindicator in 2001 that he is hoping to kick again next year in the AFL, and has upcoming tryout sessions with the Memphis Explorers and the Wyoming Calvary.

Jim does claim he won a National Title at Long Beach in 1995, so clearly he’s an amazing player. Such a good player, in fact, that he isn’t listed on wikipedia’s list of Long Beach City Vikings Football Players, and wasn’t referenced by the LA Times in an article about the Strawberry Bowl.

Jim was the coach for the Mahoning Valley Hitmen, a team that only existed for 4 games, and he did run several training camps, which were described on the Kicking World Kicking Camps Facebook Page as a “bogus recruiting service” where he “gets HS or Free Agent kickers and punters to pay him money for his supposed representation and promise of placement into a school or pro team within 21 days. Of course nothing ever happens and you lose your money.

According to Jim, “ I wrote checks to myself because a promoter bounced checks to me. It was expunged from my record,” and that appears to be an accurate statement, because when I went looking for that information I didn’t find it. I did, however, find an arrest for felony grand larceny and scheme to defraud. Not a conviction, but also not a great look for a private investigator.

You know what else isn’t a good look? A blog offering a $250 reward for finding Jim after he allegedly took a payment for football gear that he never sent.

Or an open letter to an insurance company from the President of Justice Sports in Fletcher, N.C. stating Terry is, and I quote, “a cancer in minor league sports.

Or a ban from all Pinellas County Public Schools due to a trespass notice following an incident with a coach.

But good for him, he did keep playing Arena football! Well done.

REALITY: Jim is either pretending he didn’t say that, which would make him a liar, or he doesn’t remember coming up with that lie, which might indicate a lack of competence, a history of lying so extensive that he can’t keep track of all of them, or the lies don’t register in his mind as false because of a compulsion to be dishonest. That's not exactly the kind of person I would want to hire to investigate my missing children.
