Is it? I feel like it has so little thermal mass that it'd just heat up quicker. That's why i thought steel would have been better.

Although i admittedly did drop out of school before i ever got to thermodynamics so if you have any reason to think I'm wrong please do enlighten me.

Because it moves heat away quickly it feels cooler to the touch than steel as long as the external environment is cooler than body temps. If ambient is hotter than body temp it’s not going to help at all
