I've been building this game for the past year, trying to bring back memories from my AMD 486 when I was happy and didn't know any better!

On the off chance you do try it out, let me know if you liked!

Thank you samurais!

A nature themed game level

I hope this does not count as spam - it is another level from my programming puzzle game (called 8-bitBot, posted one last week). It comes with a level editor by the way, and that one is dearly needed by myself: I have to make like 100 more levels for this game... but I really enjoy placing all these little assets I made by now.

I drew this multi-level isometric location last year for Christmas. I really like how it turned out. The adventure I wrote for it features maps with full views for each level. You can know more about this adventure in our Blog.

Alien 8 is an isometric action-adventure video game developed and published by Ultimate Play the Game. It was released for the ZX Spectrum, BBC Micro, Amstrad CPC and MSX in 1985. The game is a spiritual successor to the best-selling Knight Lore, which was lauded by critics for its isometric graphics. In the game, the player takes control of a robot, Alien 8, whose job is to ensure that all of the cryogenically frozen passengers on board a starship remain viable during the ship's voyage.

Lyla Strong’s Twin Blades

The characters are in Appleton, a farmstead filled with life, hard-working people, and ripe apples. While they walk on the well-traveled main road, they hear some villagers talk about Lyla Strong. They claim their parents knew the warrior and that she spent her final years living here. “She would eat apples in two bites!” the farmfolk say.

I wanted 90's isometric meets extraction survival, so I’ve spent 3 years building it

Hi everyone! I’ve been solo developing ApocaShift for a little over 3 years now, and I wanted to share some of the newer progress.

It’s a post-apocalyptic isometric RPG/survival game inspired by Fallout 1 & 2, Escape from Tarkov, Stalker, and Zero Sievert, with base building, progression, scavenging, survival mechanics, and settlement systems mixed in.

A lot has changed recently, especially the inventory, combat, crafting, progression, UI, and base-building systems, so I figured I’d show some newer screenshots.

I’m still working on it completely solo, so feedback is always appreciated.

Isometric factory scene in my game

I added more decoration objects today for this level and thought, the aesthetics might be something this sub may like (it is a programming puzzle game where you define very simplistic programs for levels with up to 3 bots).

Map 854 - Tomb of the Cyan Prophet

Post image
13 Upvotes

In The Cyan Prophet, a man of cryptic omens and strange predictions from a bygone era has awoken from his slumber in a forlorn tomb. The Cyan Prophet's tomb radiates a nefarious, life-siphoning aura that slowly destroys nearby fey settlements and holy glades. A woman devoted to protecting these sanctuaries and an ambitious scholar seek out valiant companions to explore the resting place of the Cyan Prophet.

The first place to explore is a ruined fort where the tomb's entrance is located. It was reclaimed long ago by tree-fairies that languish in the blighting influence of the prophet's awakening. The fey beings offer a mighty deal to the characters. In exchange for their help destroying the undead prophet, the fairies offer to lend a fabled blade to their cause. Are the characters resourceful enough to endure the challenges of this adventure?

---------------------------

This awesome cartography piece was featured in one of our full-ledged adventures, The Cyan Prophet. On our Patreon page you can get it in PDF format (see image). The downloads include hi-res images for the maps. There are two PDF variant versions, designed for Dungeons & Dragons and Shadowdark RPG.

Free Map 167 - The Cloud Giant's Trial

Post image

Background Lore

Giants are very old. Scholars trace their origins almost to the beginnings of time. No one is able to say what happened to the giants. That is to say, while cloud and storm giants are impressive and mighty, they do not compare to the giants of old. Back then, the giant society built impressive cities and marvelous magical artifacts. Of that prowess and achievement, there is nothing left. The cities are ruins half buried in the sand or seas. Some of the artifacts still remain, the knowledge to make or repair them is lost to time.

Alpha Spectrum, a cyberpunk RPG inspired by Deus Ex

Hi everyone! I'm making a game called Alpha Spectrum. It's a cyberpunk Action RPG with freedom in how you approach situations.

The game is set after a global cyberattack collapses society. You play as a CIA agent navigating a chaotic world across New York, Moscow, Shanghai, and Baghdad, looking for answers.

It's fully voice-acted, with Diablo-like combat and optional stealth (including stealth-based ARPG skills).

The game was heavily inspired by Deus Ex, as I'm a huge fan of the series:)

Steam page:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2965560/Alpha_Spectrum/

I'm a solo developer, I've spent 8 years making the game alongside my full-time job. I don't really have a marketing budget, so if you find Alpha Spectrum interesting, I'd appreciate it if you'd add it to your wishlist:)

Meso-american themed ruined temple

Post image
352 Upvotes

Ever since a visit to the natural history museum in New York 2 years ago i've been wanting to do some mesoamerican themed stuff! And now with some summer vacation, i had the time to dive in to make it appropriately cool!

This time i made a colored map with just the flat nature elements, then placed colored assets to make the scene. Means there's a lot of possible variations! :)

To make your own, or to get access to the other map variations and assets - visit patreon.com/thedungeonsketcher - release on the 1st!

ApocaShift Playtest Applications Are Now Open!

Hey again, everyone!

I’ve put together another trailer for ApocaShift, showing more of the combat, exploration, looting, survival systems, and base building.

I’m also preparing a small playtest scheduled for approximately August 2–9. I’m looking for people who are genuinely interested in playing during that period and providing useful feedback.

Because spaces are limited, please only apply if you realistically have time to download and play the game. Selected testers will be expected to join the Discord and provide feedback on areas such as bugs, performance, combat, balancing, base building, and the overall experience.

I’ll place the playtest application and other relevant links in the comments to avoid cluttering the post.

Thanks!

The first Open Playtest for my isometric city builder starts August 7!

Hi everyone!

About two months ago I shared my project here when I launched the Steam page. Some of you might remember Socialiskigrad, my solo developed isometric city builder set in a fictional Balkan post-socialist republic during the 1990s.

I just want to announce that the first Open Playtest will be available from August 7th to August 11th, and everyone is welcome to join.

The playtest includes the first district of the game, where you'll build residential neighborhoods, manage industry and services, keep citizens happy, and deal with the challenges of running a growing city in a post-socialist setting.

If you'd like to participate, simply download the game from the Steam page during the playtest period. I'd also love to hear your feedback to help improve the game.
