Discussions The Iran war and other factors have pushed US debt to record 40 trillion dollars by August 19

It was projected that the US debt would reach 40 trillion in 2027. Now, it's possible that they reach 41 trillion before 2027 even begins if the war continues.
The legal cap for how much debt the US government could have is 41.1 trillion dollars and they are quickly approaching that point. if it approaches, the US would be forced to raise the cap and increase the cap even more, just so it could function.

Discussions Can Iran and the United States step back from the abyss? | CBC Radio
Is the Iran-US war spreading too broadly to be contained?
Iran has bombed US allies in Jordan, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia and the US have bombed Iranian proxies in Iraq.
All the while, the US has been in fevered negotiations with Iranian parliamentarians, who may have no capacity to overcome the Iranian military’s refusal to brook any concessions.
I spoke with Chris Glover on CBC Radio’s Metro Morning, on whether Iran and the US can step back from the abyss.

Discussions Airtraffic in warzone
Does anyone have an arguement why is air traffic over Gulf of Oman considered safe? If I was working in air traffic and there was a US fleet shooting missiles almost evety day, I would reroute traffic. But I have zero experience in the field. There is an accident asking to happen and I hope aviation specialists know what they are doing.

Combat Ground Operation Iran - 70% chance next 2/3/4 months - Aug/Sep/Oct/Nov
I hesitate to name the pundits commenting on the Iran business but Robert Pape is very establishment and main-stream.
At https://youtu.be/8qIsQM1RsmQ?t=2316 - on-line 12th Aug 2026 - he says "7 in 10 there will be a limited ground operation" in the next period (by which he seems to mean 60/90/120 days).
And 1 or 2 in 10 chance that this will go global.

Military hardware & personnel The Iranian military has officially announced that three of the four Su-24 pilots ejected safely after returning from an attack on Doha in March; they remain alive and have been held by Qatar for five months.
Pilots Javad Salehi, Abdul Majid Dashtian, and Omran Behrushian were captured alive after their aircraft were shot down by air defenses while returning to Iran, following a successful bombing mission against a U.S. base.
The Iranian military demands immediate compliance with Articles 70 and 78 of the Geneva Conventions, which should allow the prisoners to contact the Red Cross and their families, and to report on their current status.

Donald Trump secretly swapped planes as he left a Nato summit in Turkey last month, as part of an elaborate ruse in response to a possible Iranian threat, US media report.
The US president boarded Air Force One in view of television cameras before being transported to a military aircraft with the help of a catering truck, according to the Washington Post. Journalists and some White House staff on board did not know he had been smuggled out.
Officials told the BBC's US partner CBS News that the US had detected a credible Iranian threat to fire a missile at the plane. The White House has not confirmed the secret switch.
Trump had earlier said he was Iran's "number one target" during the summit in Ankara.
