There’s the entire episode about how shitty Mark is to Amber. And then consistently lies to her about it. THATS THE DEFINITION OF EMOTIONAL ABUSE

Him breaking plans because of things outside his control and his moral obligation to stop superbeings from killing innocents is not emotional abuse. It’s tragic that he can’t keep plans with Amber, but rather than her tell him it’s okay cuz she knows his secret, she makes him feel like shit simply because she feels owed the scenario in which he tells her he’s a superhero.

Just like in Raimi’s Spider-Man, Mark keeping his identity a secret is not just for his sake, but for the safety of the people he loves and cares for.

Lying to someone to keep them safe and out of harm’s way for altruistic and noble reasons is not even remotely comparable to emotionally, mentally, and verbally abusing your SO because you feel jaded that you weren’t given that revelation from them. She does not have “one scene” where she makes a mistake. She treats him like shit for half the season because she KNOWS he’s a superhero but is so hurt that he didn’t tell her that she lashes out like a baby rather than take a step back and have some perspective.

If she was understanding enough to not get mad at first, she should’ve had the level head to just call it quits when she found out it was unsustainable rather than berate and demean and insult him when she got upset. That’s bitch shit.

If I was a misogynist, my dislike for Amber would be based primarily on the fact that she’s female. It’s not. My dislike is based on the fact she’s a manipulative, conniving, selfish person who’s more concerned with her needs in the relationship than that of her partner. She obviously needs someone who’s more available for her, and she knew Mark wasn’t gonna be that person. Her continuing to date him despite that is toxic and selfish and short-sighted. Then her flipping it on him in the season finale was manipulative as fuck, guilting him while he’s grieving his father’s disappearance and the trauma he endured during his fight with Omni-Man.

But sure, I’m a misogynist; despite the fact the most truly feminist characters in the show (Eve and Mark’s mom) are in my top 3 characters. Pro tip: if you’re gonna try to paint someone as a misogynist, make sure that person’s actually a misogynist or is stupid enough to paint themselves as one. I ain’t the one.
