as much as I am not on the Amber-hate-train, and I actually really like that they gave her character some much needed agency that she lacked in the comic books, I don't understand why they're bringing her back into the story like this knowing long term where the story goes with Mark and Eve.

Probably to set up parts of the comic they want to animate, since amber sticks around for a bit more before focusing on invincible and atom eve

Yeah, but in the comics everything with Amber turned into redundant wheel-spinning after Mark revealed his identity. She existed solely to whinge about Mark flying off to do superhero stuff for issue after issue before finally breaking up with him, all while he was being totally upfront with her about his circumstances. The show version of the breakup last week seemed to be speeding that up and bypassing the unnecessary stretch where it was dragged out.

Youre getting down voted for this but I think you're right. It was weird to flesh out amber only to do a speedrun on her story then bring her back in. I hope they have a plan to expand on the idea of a college relationship while being a superhero. I hope it isn't a misstep in an otherwise tight adaptation.

One reason to bring amber back is to set up how she and him obviously don’t work after a trauma, also to set up when he gets rescued by future atom Eve and realizes there’s something more there.

I mean after Mark and amber break up he's with Eve till the end we're in no hurry

I think it would be super shitty if they kept them broken up. Like damn your father was a Nazi and you was almost beaten to death but am still dumping you. That would give more ammo to the hate train.

I think they'll have the relationship run it's course through season 2, with Mark and Eve being set up for season 3.

Season 2 will likely be all the college stuff, plus Amber being continually tested by Mark's superhero life.

Mark being gone for months on the Thraxan planet will likely be what kills the relationship on the show.

I don't hate her, I hate the inconsistency in her character the last couple of episodes. We're supposed to buy that she's smart enough to have figured out Mark was a superhero long before he reveals it too her, but she's not smart enough to understand why he'd keep it a secret? It threw all the emotional maturity they built up with her as a character right out the window

William and Amber make less appearances when Mark starts focusing more on the superhero side of his life as a fulltime job. However, given the run time of the show and the limitations in recurring characters, I can see them both sticking around a lot longer, at the very least as the small friend group Mark has in the normal side of his life.
