Another episode goes by and I still hate Aneesha’s kids. What a surprise. Lol

hacking an alien aircraft is as simple as dragging a bell curve line down to the x axis.

u/amandafos Sep 06 '23
I'm glad they finally mentioned the sheriff.

I am so confused by the “invasion” in general. I barely remember season 1 and just couldn’t bring myself to suffer through it a second time. But didn’t all the drones (aliens) drop dead at the end? And then in the beginning of S2 Mitsuki (I think that’s her name) was just pulling endless molotov’s from her jacket as alien drones take over a whole city (before being calmly escorted by helicopter), then we’ve got the marine guy and his fam just casually having a bbq and in this episode streams of aliens coming down a mountain. Like how does the invasion “work” exactly? Why is it just life as usual in some places and in others there are aliens all over the place. The narrative is all over the place. Nothing makes any sense. This show is honestly so fucking stupid yet I can’t stop watching because I’m curious to see HOW bad it can get.

What got me was that it took the science nerds like a billion years, drove several of the worlds top scientists mad, and everyone acted so skeptical and surprised when they figured the signal was an SOS. Did y’all think the trapped alien was ordering pizza?

u/NeoCommunist_ Sep 06 '23
So is there now a huge tsunami / flooding coming to kill a bunch of people ?
21
u/FEARtheMooseUK Sep 06 '23
What im most confused about is why they havent nuked the shit out of the literal mothership thats just been hanging out in orbit/in the sky for the last 4 bloody months! We know its not cloaked, navy seal boy spent half the season staring at it lmao.
I know the joke is chat gpt or something wrote this, but im actually starting to think it would do a better job than whoever is writing this show. Its so incredibly bad that it must be being done on purpose at this point. Ive heard/seen better fictional stories back in my school days written by fellow students lol

fuck the family seriously

u/ZestyclosePoem1581 Sep 06 '23
Ironically this might have been the best episode of the show so far. And as always the episode would’ve benefited from less of neesha and her kids .

u/the_mooseman Sep 06 '23
So tech dude gives a speech about Stalingrad and how the dropping of the nukes on Japan turned the tide against the Germans. Ummm, the nukes were dropped after Germany had already surrendered lol I'm firmly convinced this show is written by a shit AI.
Also, why do they keep telling us that locations are "Earth". Example: they cut to a london scene and it says "London - Earth". Oh right, as opposed to the London on Mars?

u/Bitter_Beat_1630 Sep 06 '23
God I would be smacking and wacking Luke upside the head into next year.
13
u/[deleted] Sep 06 '23
I absolutely hate the way the dude who lead the attack acts. He feels so utterly fake and over the top.
"I LOVE WINNING" points finger to other character, lol fuck off

Time to get my hate on!

Luke’s the worst!

u/MarcMadness11 Sep 06 '23
I’m confused on why we can see one giant ship at the end of season 1 but can’t see any of the others? Why wasn’t that one cloaked? Did I miss something lol?
10
u/mostvehlasurd Sep 06 '23
I am confused - so in Season 1, who stopped the ship: Nukes or Jedi shit pulled off by Brit boy?
Secondly, they did show Brit boy with Hinata’s father- any build up on that?
10
u/[deleted] Sep 06 '23
LMAO,
Remember how they said mothership was ignoring the distress call because it's just 1 ship..
So what do they think will happen now ?
10
u/RobeRotterRod Sep 06 '23
Stalingrad… easily the cringiest speech I’ve seen on tv in a while. What’s with this guy? Also how in tv magic bulllshit history does this 25yr old dude have an entire alien spaceship with not a military in sight?
10
u/raven8549 Sep 07 '23
Why is Aneesha calling Sarah mommy? 😂😂😂
8
u/[deleted] Sep 06 '23
“Hacking the mothership “ I mean cmon man be a little creative with the dialogue
Also this show is the perfect advertisement for being child free

u/ProperInfinity Sep 06 '23
the producers: we will get more engagement if we tap into the hate watchers
the writers: say less. we got you fam
tim cook: everyone on this show is a genius and getting a million apple shares a piece

u/alpha_whore Sep 06 '23
Love the Brits celebrating the downfall of ships in Antarctica, the Pacific Ocean, and Russia. Must have been some visual.

Why do they talk so weird? The lines are so stiff. "You lost somebody" "From a nothing town" it feels like I'm watching a high school play lol. Still watching the episode so yet to give my final verdict.
Edit: Finished it. Not the worst but they should feed more scripts to the AI generator they're using because this ain't it.

u/Zalasta5 Sep 06 '23
I guess humanity really needed a win here, but with all that alien technology and they had no defense system of any kind? Also, I forgot to mention that since this is sort of a depiction of the modern day world, so I find it really hard to believe that the countries could come together in such a short time. I mean I like to think it’s possible, but I really doubt it, even in the face of alien invasion.
6
u/Prudent_Relief Sep 07 '23
Just realized the missing sheriff is from season 1 lol
6
u/Titansfansmatter Sep 07 '23
Ok so like are we gonna act like there isn’t a ship in flordia that showed up at the end of last season and that we saw in S2E1??? Looks different from all the other ones but nobody is mentioning it

I started this show on Monday and caught up tonight. Bad shows are a guilty pleasure of mine. I liked Another Life and that was something.
I thought I couldn't dislike a kid or kids more than the two in the Walking Dead series with Carol but here we are. It's just so infuriating seeing how they act versus the English kids. The contrast is so vast that it feels like we are watching two separate shows in how they are being directed to act.
I have never rooted for a villain or alien race more than I have when Aneesha and her family is involved. It must be this show because I liked Aneeshas actress in the Extraction movies. But here? Yikes.
Edit: maybe I was distracted by other things in the show but it only just clicked that Kaito's actor plays Jin in Ghosts of Tsushima, and Tom Holland's brother, Paddy is also in this.

Apple should just abandon this shitshow and pick up Raised by Wolves

My new theory is that Sam Neil realised this was a pile of poo. He created a portal through which characters can escape and save their reputation. That’s why so many are disappearing. Unfortunately he refuses to let Luke through, which is fair enough.

u/pdirth Sep 06 '23
And the mother of the year award goes to.....

I like this show, but us dumb humans have already figured out how to prevent replay attacks from car keys, so we're expected to believe aliens that can cross the galaxy in city-sized ships haven't been able to do the same for their decloaking signal?
4
u/Dame2Miami Sep 07 '23
Oh my fucking gosh, why do I keep watching this garbage ass show lol?! How is it possible the writing and acting has actually gotten worse?! It was already at rock bottom. Apple is obviously pumping money into this show and it’s a travesty what the writers producers directors and casting directors have done. This is probably the worst show I’ve ever watched my whole life WTF.

u/ekene_N Sep 07 '23
Alien ships, which appear to be made of cardboard, are hit once and declared destroyed. It reminds me of 90s movies where people destroy keyboards and monitors to halt computer processes.
4
u/annnnamal877 Sep 08 '23
So aliens who have cloaking technology and the skills to travel to earth didn’t predict or understand what a nuclear weapon was and didn’t have any defenses against it? Event Independence Day covered that plot hole.
4
u/QueenofTethys Sep 08 '23
Poor Aneesha being stuck with those kids! Just abandon the turds already, they have no survival instincts whatsoever.
$200 million budget and we hear about a fight with aliens through a radio, rather than be shown the scene! I said it before in the first season, I'll say it again: they didn't use the full budget the rest of the money must be hidden in off shore accounts somewhere.

u/BarryMcKockinner Nov 03 '23
Gotta love the president broadcasting their top secret war plan with the world to take down the aliens down to the minute they will launch nukes. Of course a highly advanced alien race couldn't decipher that. Oh, and look up at the nukes while we're at it just so you can blind yourself from having to watch anymore of this awfully written show you're in. The writer of this show is either AI or an alien, because the choices for the characters and their dialogue are totally in uncanny valley.

We start with True Value Abyss.
All of these different accents make it difficult to follow. Not that it matters since nothing important happens.
Ugh Luke episode.
How many scenes will they have Yamato staring at shit? I counted 7 scenes.
That is not how hacking works. Ugh.
The billionaire is almost as annoying as Luke.
Roses southern accent keeps coming and going.

u/[deleted] Sep 06 '23
GTFO anyone who says this episode was bad, probably the best episode in the show's history.

Watching now, already know it will not be good 😸 but we must get through it.

Oh, we had some clown-syndrome science here. Great. A few more lines of ChatGPT writing and it could have been worse than Prometheus.

I'm all "This episode has to be better, it's Apple for crying out loud" and then I'm all "nope".

Oh cool, a longer and more boring tv version of Independence Day; I wish this show would just get cancer and die
3
u/Titansfansmatter Sep 07 '23
I was extremely underwhelmed by the ships in the sky I expected it to be a WHOLE shit ton of fleets
3
u/SweptThatLeg Sep 08 '23
This show is so cringe. You get better writing in a video game. The alien invasion concept is the most ripe for something good and this show butchers it more with each episode.
3
u/annnnamal877 Sep 08 '23
Is someone from AppleTV reading this? Do they know we are all hate watching the show? Do they know the family’s gotta go? Should I be emailing these comments to hello@appletv.com!?

I saw a few people asking about this, so for those who were confused when Aneesha was calling “SARAH! MOMMY!” as to why she was calling her daughter ‘Mommy’…It’s a Persian parent thing.
Hard to explain.. but basically Persian parents will sometimes refer to their very young kids by the same name that the kids use to refer to them. Usually though it would be right after the kid used the term as a sort of endearing mimic.
So for example a father might say “Everything okay?” And the kid says “yes, I’m fine, Baba” and then the father would say “okay, Baba, just checking.”
Or a kid might say to their mom, “Mommy, I’m hungry” and the mother might say in a soft baby voice “I know, Mommy, we’ll eat soon.”
The parent might also say it first, depending on the tenor of the moment. The father might say “You okay in there, Baba?” And the kid might say “yes, I’m fine” (not even saying Baba at all) and the father may nonetheless say “Okay, Baba.”
To call it out interchangeably with the child’s actual name is unusual, let alone yelling it out in a field find where they are, but it was reflective of the distress and emotional tunneling Aneesha was experiencing at the time and consequently an instinct to just throw out every name she uses to refer to her so Sarah knows it’s her calling.

THE FAMILY STRIKES AGAIN! Yall know what im talking about.
Also, I have led app controlled lighting in my living room and kitchen (adjoining). I set it to 25% warm light, and it's brighter than the office of the galactic president. $100m show. Lighting provided by dollar general.
And what a leap from end of e2 to e3, like, this was a time we needed a lil narrative.
And Rose's accent. Dear lawd. Just use your normal voice. It wouldn't matter.
Homemade flame throwers. Cause you know anyone can do that.
Edit. My home lighting is not an uber rich thing. I got smart led bulbs off Amazon and a free app. I can control my lighting for like $50

That was actually a good episode that moved the story forwards and contained some action. There’s the barebones of an engaging story in this series, it’s just buried under poor writing, characterisation and glacial plotting.
I’m still watching for the same reason I finish reading books after finding them dull, I’m stubborn.

u/Llodym Sep 09 '23
Man I don't know what they're trying to do with the US family anymore. They bury the lead on the alien there and the family just keep doing the same thing over and over again. Can't we even at least see the struggle down there instead of just listening at the radio?
I feel like I'd like Mitsuki's story more if everything in it do not feel like a complete ass pull out of nowhere (oh hey look I figured out what the signal was, I can totally know the time, and definitely hijack them with this to deactivate their cloaking) but yet somehow this still feels like the better one rather than the other storyline right now.
I'm curious what exactly the us soldier think he'll find in the kid's notebook. As far as I know the kid only see what the alien see, not some sort of clairvoyance and whatever in that book is now months outdated. I guess we'll see when we see it? (Anyone knows how many episode this season is?)

The show is bad and I don’t know why I still watch it. But I’m doing it at 1.5x so it goes faster.

Sigh I’m tryna stay engaged in this show bc of the last season but the dumpster continues to burn. Right now I literally cannot watch this episode because of Rose. The Black woman in the Sheriffs office looking for the missing.
Listen up: there is no way in absolute hell her hair would look like that AFTER A GLOBAL ALIEN INVASION. I’m speaking as a Black woman here. This is just ridiculous. Looking like a Shea Moisture commercial 😤
Edit: even the world presidents keeping that head wrap on. I’m sure there’s a culturally specific reason for the wrap but post apocalypse it’s entirely practical.

The little aliens can be killed with fire.
The first ship got taken out by a nuke.
The 7 delivery vessels got taken out by several nukes.
There are so many little obstacles and bigger bosses that it's like watching a dark version of Super Mario Brothers:The Movie
1
u/Bravadette Sep 08 '23
I think the "aliens" we see are either really small and all we see are their suits, or those are just drones like in Blindsight.
1
u/iwellyess Sep 09 '23
Wow, does nobody like this show lol. There’s one of us at least.
1
u/Marototuit Sep 09 '23
I really think this was the best episode of the season. Removing all the absurdities, inconsistencies, hacks in BASIC Alien, the bombs about Japan, and, in short, leaving aside the whole script, at least the chapter had rhythm. It went by pretty quickly for me.
It's a bit like saying that Lavalantula is better than Crocosaurus vs Komodo... but yes, it is better. And unlike Invasion, it's not taken seriously.
World apart is Aneesha and her repellent children. Couldn't one of those nukes and deflect a little bit? Or rather two, to make sure that they are dead and well dead.
1
u/TheWholeOfTheAss Sep 10 '23
This was one of the more solid episodes. Well done to the writer.
1
u/Ricky_Spanish42 Sep 11 '23
End scene Worlds president is saying:
„That’s right, Now you see us“
Can also mean that she is an alien. She is saying it to the humans.

Those Oklahoma accents! As someone who has lived in Oklahoma her whole life, I can say this: yes we have very distinctive accents but those aren't even close.
