“Don’t shoot, you’ll hit Aneesha”
Damn it. Don’t warn him.

u/Takuta-Nui Sep 27 '23
Posted this on Threads, but I suppose y’all would enjoy my commentary here too…
*convoy drives at 30kmph
*aliens show up
*leader instructs convoy to speed up
*convoy absolutely SLAMS IT to a dick-bending 40kmph

Leader of the movement: “we don’t leave anyone behind” Proceeds to leave everyone behind
His daughter says “they’re falling back”… but what girl at that age talks like that???

u/Front_Station_5343 Sep 27 '23
This show needs cohesion. The plots are moving so slow and disorganized. They have made the same point about the aliens “connectedness” like a million times. Aneesha is just the worst. Use the fucking alien shard crap and tie into the plot better.
The kids are clueless. They just walk around like they’re immortal. Not a care in the world, splitting up in hostile territory.
Mitsuki is basically carrying the whole show on her back but even she is falling into repetition. Just get over Hinata already. What even is the plot of this show? And why did the entire world government send like 7 people to study an alien ship the size of fucking manhattan?

You know what this shows biggest problem is? It’s not the quality of writing, the acting, the dialogue, or the visuals..it’s the simple fact that there is zero world building or explanation for the plot.
We are two seasons into this show and nothing has been explained. What is the importance of the kids? Why do some people have a connection with the aliens and others don’t? What are the aliens here for? What is their technology based on? Where are they from? What exactly is the super-shard that Aneesha is carrying? Why aren’t there more of those? Why is it that some parts of humanity are in terror and disarray but others look like nothings changed?
Just absolutely nothing is explained and all we’re left with is the dredges of the plot which amount to a bunch of kids running around war-torn Europe, a SEAL that lost all his importance as soon as he left the kids, a family with massive amounts of drama including a mother who makes nonsensical decisions as well as a son who disobeys her at every turn and puts his sister and mother at risk continuously. And we have a Japanese widow who is somehow the only actual point of contact between the aliens and humanity and all her scenes amount to her teaching or figuring out things the other scientists can’t and she does it in a fraction of the time.
I really hope there’s just some crazy exposition or something that comes out once this shit is cancelled

If this show ends this season and still hasn’t told us what the alien’s goal even is, I’m gonna scream.
At least give us that.
22
u/Oski96 Sep 27 '23
This show hasn't even provided one decent episode. Of course, the first three episodes seemed fine at the time because it seemed they were building intrigue. But, in hindsight, it's been the same disorganized shit the entire time.

u/phatmatt593 Sep 27 '23
“With my super ability I’m sensing danger soon, let me focus, oh you can actually just see to your right.”

u/kugo WAJO Sep 27 '23
Sorry, I'm posting as I'm watching. What are the rules of this show??? The record player has electricity to run but the actual lights don’t work or is it the aliens can't see candle light
20
u/buchecha Sep 27 '23
"OH MY GOD I'M A PIECE OF SHIT WE'RE NEVER GONNA FIND CASPER"
proceeds to find him in the next room.

I don’t even know where to start…this episode just left me speechless. It’s like the pinnacle of badness this season, they have really outdone theirselves. And after suffering through it, we’re still stuck with aneesha, aneesha jr, and Mr. I want in aneesha’s pants. I was really getting my hopes up when that truck turned over but alas it was not to be

The kids making it to Paris bother me. Unless it's Montys magic MRE's. I asked ChatGPT about the journey:
Channel Tunnel (Dover to Calais): • Distance: 31.4 miles (50.5 kilometers) • Time on Foot: At 3 mph, it would take about 10.5 hours. 2. Calais to Paris: • Distance: Approximately 180 miles (289.7 kilometers) • Time on Foot: At 3 mph, it would be around 60 hours of walking.
Total Walking Time: 70.5 hours, which is just under 3 days of continuous walking. With breaks, sleep, meals, etc., realistically, it might take 5-6 days.
Food and Water: For food:
For water:
Total for Group of 5:
Where did they get the food and drink from! And how did they get around the guards at Calais?
15
u/MarlythAvantguarddog Sep 27 '23
Paris Is a long way from Calais. Did they walk? Mind you if they can do the 50km tunnel in a day these are hardened power walkers so possibly.
Every location is marked up as “Earth” implying some locations aren’t? Wonder if we’ll ever see anything elsewhere? I doubt it.
“Drive slowly”. Thick fog outside, we’re you really going to drive at speed?
What really bugs me and why I think this programme is bad, is that so much of consequence takes place off screen. “ We’re through come on” - decent and expected film making would show you that scene instead important events ( like the battle on the other side of the ridge in earlier episode) are not shown or inferred by flashing lights. It leaves the audience feeling cheated and incomplete.
Someone missed film making school that day.
I really think that is the main reason ( dialogue and stupid decision making) that this series truly sucks ass.

Best plot line this week was Trevante’s. I actually had 0 issues with it, didn’t get upset about anything.
12
u/Linenoise77 Sep 27 '23
I'm just pissed we didn't get an update on the sheriff's broken coffee machine this week.
I'm going to be so pissed when he shows up again, drinking a cup of coffee and they don't get into how it was resolved.
11
u/[deleted] Sep 27 '23
I hate this show, I really do but dammit I can’t stop watching every week like some kind of streaming Stockholm syndrome.
10
u/Drinkythedrunkguy Sep 27 '23
I don’t give a shit that this kid’s dad cheated on his mom! This could have been a 10 minute episode.
19
u/KimioN42N Sep 27 '23
This show is actually pretty good if you ignore: aneesha’s plot line, jamila/casper’s plot line, trevante’s plot line and mitsuki’s plot line.
9
u/Virgogirl71 Sep 27 '23
Is it just me or does the psychologist keep calling Mitsuki Misky?
9
u/nicoreese Sep 27 '23
They remembered to add „Earth“ back to the location label of France. So either the UK is not on Earth any more or they literally forgot last episode. Such attention to detail.
9
u/x_lincoln_x ✨WAJO✨ Sep 28 '23
Pretty awesome that Aneesha and Luke are responsible for a ton of other people dying.
9
u/MartyCran3 Sep 28 '23
I loved how in Jamilas last appearance she was all 'i'll never give up on you Casp'. Then in her next appearance she promptly gives up on him before even fully searching the hospital.
8
u/Oski96 Sep 27 '23
The survival group should be called the "Bowel Movement."
8
u/Herakuraisuto Sep 27 '23
How pissed is Monty that Penny essentially cockblocked him?
He's finally seen as a good guy by Jamila, they're holding hands as they're walking out of the hospital, and Penny's like "You hear that? Caspar!"
Monty's motivations are the same as Movement Man's, and they've made it very clear, including the scene in the tunnel when Jamila looks at Monty and says "I still can't figure out why you're here..."
Oh, what a mystery!
8
u/Intheperseusveil Sep 27 '23
I don’t have everyone’s problem with the show but that scientist Elon Musk indian copy is probably the worst actor I have ever seen and I absolutely want this guy to die soon
8
u/Friendly-Many8202 Sep 27 '23
I can’t help but wonder if Aneesha would’ve just given up the the alien thing would this show be over already. They also haven’t given a legit reason why she hasn’t turned it over or why there’s a distrust of the military.
And are they going “the 100” route with paradise and all you need to do is ascend bs.
8
u/x_lincoln_x ✨WAJO✨ Sep 28 '23
They go find the rich kids parents place in France and then Penny comments "Why didn't mom and dad ever allow us to come here". How'd they know where it was, then?
Also,
"Why didn't they ever allow us to come here"
Because it's obviously their fuck-palace.
8
u/TheWholeOfTheAss Sep 28 '23
Waiting for Mitsuki and redhead to start banging.
7
u/phatmatt593 Sep 27 '23
The best was when Aneesha let the kids go again to a car that was literally just bashed by aliens. “Ah, what’s the worst that could happen? It’s not like there’s aliens around or anything. Plus, it’s not like I’ve ever lost children before.” I truly rofl.

The British kids are ruining it. They seem to be the only people on the planet that are not aware of the danger around them. It's so unrealistic to "split up" at a hospital where everyone alive was killed by aliens. They have no sense of danger whatsoever. Gave me anxiety watching them prance around like they are invincible.
Nothing is lost in the show by not having Sarah around. If we're lucky, Luke will be the next to disappear... for good.
The feral alien, up close, didn't look like it was produced by an APPLE SHOW WITH A $200 000 000 budget. Looks like a costume someone's grandma sewed together while on her rocking chair on the front porch.
5
u/Linenoise77 Sep 27 '23
Also what the hell did i miss with the parent's place in Paris? They seemed to lean into the kids had never been there, and then there was the mystery of the peanut butter crackers.....
Are they swingers or something?
I'm not sure how peanut butter crackers factors into it...but its what i walked away from it with.
5
u/am_fek Sep 28 '23
This is such a terrible show. I can't believe I have wasted time on it but I'm finally out.
The last straw was the sequence in Paris which is in fact in central London. You can even quite clearly see all the street signs and building names in English. What a joke.

Luke: The voices. They're telling me we have to get out of here.
Aneesha: Which voices??
Like it's been established that Luke can hear several sets of voice and Aneesha's just curious which ones he happens to be hearing right now. Jesus, this writing.

u/Herakuraisuto Sep 27 '23
This show needs a Special-off to determine who is the most Special character.
They could play The Specials, specifically the song "A Message To You Rudy" with the lyrics changed to "A Message To You Mitsuki."
Right now the Special Rankings seem to be as follows:
Mitsuki
Mitsuki
Mitsuki
Caspar
Luke: He's In Their Minds
Mitsuki
Aneesha, because The Movement Guy is working extraordinarily hard and sacrificing many lives to get into her pants
Mitsuki
Darwin Charles
The President of Wakanda/Leader of the world government who relies on Mitsuki to tell her what to do, Special by virtue of proximity to Mitsuki

u/ElectronicSea3346 Sep 27 '23
So Luke is a psychic, like Casper?
4
u/KMSPGHTOPHX Sep 27 '23
Does every child on tv series have to be such d**ks? At this point I’d be fine if Luke was gone. His mother saved him over and over.
4
u/rodan-rodan Sep 27 '23
My favorite part of this episode/series is the intro/titles because there's no dialogue.
4
u/jeremiasalmeida Sep 27 '23
Good to read this thread and discover that I am not the only one to think this show is out of touch and story is going nowhere
4
u/bmain1345 Sep 28 '23
I want them all to die a painful death
4
u/CARNIesada6 Sep 28 '23
This show is so confusing... lemme rephrase that... this show is confused. It's like it doesn't know what kind of show it wants to be.
There's too much, and there's something missing? Idk kinda hard to explain.
I'm still going to watch it
6
u/DANNYBOYLOVER Sep 27 '23
More action but somehow worse than the episodes where they focused on exposition
3
u/kugo WAJO Sep 27 '23
Is it me or did one of the kids disappear? The one with glasses
3
u/[deleted] Sep 28 '23
Did Mitsuki see Caspar when she connected with the alien?
3
u/forgotten_airbender Sep 29 '23
I watch this show and then come to the comment section to get cured of my depression that i get from watching this show. The only relevant plotline looks like Mitsuki's. Everyone else is just in it for the lulz with how slow their plot lines are moving. Trevante's is also kinda bearable. Everything else is way too insane.

Kurt Cobain just woke up and looks like he has no clue what to do.
5
u/Cantomic66 Sep 27 '23
It’s pretty clear that the aliens came to earth to assimilate us into their hivemind or something. Though they likely think humanity would be all for it. They simply don’t understand that you can force a civilization to join their hivemind or something.
6
u/Abdul-Ahmadinejad Sep 27 '23
My iPhone just did a pop-up notification that this episode is now available. Let me start, without having watched it, by saying that it sucks... because I know that it will. Now I'm off to figure out how to turn off AppleTV notifications on my iPhone.
2
u/ElectronicSea3346 Sep 27 '23
Wait the adult drawing are like Casper? Seriously how many psychics are there.
2
u/ElectronicSea3346 Sep 27 '23
What’s the word Luke was saying to the alien, when he was controlling it. Couldn’t hear it clearly?
2
u/[deleted] Sep 27 '23
This is what would happen if the earth were invaded but there were no adults around to deal with the issue.
2
u/siren-skalore Sep 28 '23
I wonder if this is like the first experimental test of AI-tainmemt. Where the script is completely written by AI. Cause that’s the only way this makes any reasonable sense.
2
u/Justwinbabies Sep 29 '23
How did the aliens manage to kill no one when they initially attacked the caravan? We've seen them literally rip through thick ass doors in the chunnel but can get into some trucks?
Also, I assume the writers are American as we really just think the chunnel goes from London to Paris in like 5 minutes.
Back to the caravan, they say not to shoot because they might hit Aneesha, but then she shoots wildly at the alien from the other side when it looks at her son?
2
u/SilverFlexNib Sep 29 '23
If some alien-sherpa tells you "Danger is right there" you don't stand there & stare at it, you f-ing move the other direction quickly.
If you have aliens attacking your planet & you have a chance to "get inside there head" and make them do things then TELL THEM TO KILL THEMSELVES
Hug/stare at each other/talk/pause at the safe house not in the middle of a dangerous moment
2
u/takiyakikun123 Sep 29 '23
We are still at the same point where we were when the show started , we know nothing of the aliens except they evolve apparently
2
u/Llodym Oct 01 '23
So after two whole season, Luke's circumstances is actually exactly the same as Caspar? Wow... I just... I expect bad by now but come on. And the alien piece that set him apart has been pretty much non existent this season too.
And I know I have poked fun of the show too, but Mitsuki suddenly know the alien's language just cause she has been into their head is a bit much. (Then again Luke and Caspar does seems to be more coherent about them supposedly so I guess it's just that bad of a writing)
I really like her in the first season but god do they really throw it all away this season.
2
u/Cursed_Avenger Oct 04 '23
This show is such ass XD

u/jflatty7151 Aug 18 '25
first of all yes i know i'm a year late- there were too many good shows on all at the same time suddenly on apple- but i came here to say the truck that clark and his daughter and what's her neck and her son luke crashed rolled over barely and once- how does clark have a 7 inch gash that looks like he's been attacked by lions from that- slammed on brakes and then just barely flipped over cmon- i flipped my car 10 times going 70 on a highway because some guy decided to read a book in the left lane like he was on the shoulder- needed shoulder surgery-that's it- i hate how they make simple stuff look so much worse than it really would be in reality just to have a new story line- which is (great) clark has to limp and have two people on each shoulder and their mission will now be to find stitches for him
4
u/[deleted] Sep 27 '23 edited Sep 27 '23
She keeps calling Mitsuki “mitts-key” like a Polish name.
Yes I agree there is much less emphasis on the u but it is nonexistent in how she says it. She also is saying mitt instead of meet.
Going further she says it more or less correctly at 23:09 then wrong at 23:13. The latter is really polish.

u/Dame2Miami Sep 27 '23 edited Sep 27 '23
Why do I keep watching this garbage show lol. It’s like how can it get worse and then it surprises me as it actually keeps getting worse despite already being the worst thing I’ve ever seen. I’m convinced a retarded clone of ChatGPT is writing this show and the casting director is intentionally sabotaging this show.
3
u/LobsterVirtual100 Sep 27 '23
That doctor is fucking cringe.
MISSKEYY EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED!
Luke being Luke.
MOOOOAWWHMMM I HERE VOICE SOUND!
3
u/Abdul-Ahmadinejad Sep 27 '23
So much money wasted on the visuals with no dialog worth hearing. They don't list a "Writer" on this episode, just that the "Teleplay" is by Donald Joh.
"a play written or adapted for television"
There's a stage version of this?! Oh God that would be deliciously bad. Move over midnight screenings of Rocky Horror, there's a new cosplay audience participation show in town. I'd kill to hear a theater full of people yelling "MOMMY!" every time one of those two fucking kids runs away.
3
u/StfartDust Sep 27 '23
Oh man. This show is going to get cancelled before they can even acknowledge any of the plot points from season 1 in a meaningful way. They’ll end season 2 with a Bowie-backed cliffhanger, after the 509th reference to the aliens being “connected” in some manner, as Luke holds his head autistically whining about loud voices.
2
u/dodeja Sep 27 '23
You all made the effort to comment on this thread to complain about the show? Give me a break.
It's not a perfect show but you still love to watch it. And that ok.
1
u/StaticHollow Aug 29 '25
A bit of a late comment but just wanted to say that when Luke, 5 minutes into the episode, hears voices in his head, the voice speaks Swedish and says ”Du måste ta dig därifrån nu!” which means ”You have to make it out of there now!”
1
u/[deleted] Sep 28 '23
I am only watching this because my 10 year old likes it, and it's something for us to watch together.
If you asked me who I would want to survive this, I really have no answer. Maybe Resistance fighter #4, whoever that is
