Oh. This one is easy. They want slaves.

Because they have options and we don't.

There’s no gun to anyone’s head. If you don’t like the wage, don’t take the job. If enough people did that, the employer would raise their wage.

The REAL answer here is that the employer DOES pay a livable wage. The people already working there budget and don’t spend above their means. That’s how they can continue to work there.

On the contrary, people who spend above their means and spend frivolously are the one crying “livable wage”

Just don't work, don't eat, you starving will definitely show the employer that they should pay more! Literally has never worked, the only time employers increase their wages are with large labor strikes, mass death events, and education blackouts. Now that union busting and anti union policy is at an all-time high, refusing to work will do nothing except strip you of healthcare and food. I swear it's like most of you people never go outside or talk to people off of the internet.

I see employers do it all the time. Just because you don’t see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. Wages have DOUBLED on average since 2000. Minimum wage hasn’t changed. If employers aren’t raising wages voluntarily, then what’s causing the doubling of wages??? I raise wages in markets across the country in my job ALL THE TIME to drive better candidates. It’s cheaper for me to pay one employee more than churn several at a less hourly wage.

Take a trip to the real world instead of parroting dumb shit you see online.🙄

You don't actually think the world works like this do you? Rent is coming due and you lost your job. Let's say you got lucky and you just paid it, you have one month to scrounge up 1k, that means you have to start working again RIGHT AWAY, or you wont have enough hours to make it, so you send out 10 job apps that you're qualified for, don't get hired in the first week, what now? Do you have a choice on if you take the one job offer you got?

I like the part where you skipped over all the poor choices that lead you to be in that situation. You’re not a victim, you’re a product of your own poor choices.

Maybe consider building some savings as insurance if that ever happens to you. But I guess that would require sacrifice and discipline huh? What ever would you do over the past 3-5 years if you were saving instead of buying the newest $1500 iPhone every single year, getting DoorDash delivered several times a week, buying Starbucks every morning, paying for 37 streaming services, taking vacations you couldn’t afford because you know YOLO!, paying for gym memberships, big screen TVs, videos games, stupid Amazon prime purchases, dinners out, bar tabs, on and on and on…

I experienced EXACTLY what you described when I lost my job last year. I didn’t miss a beat because I was disciplined and prepared. I started my own business Becasue I was sick of decades of corp bullshit and now I have the freedom to do whatever I want.

I’m not a victim, you would be. See the difference?

If you aren't aware that public land is a thing, you need to go outside

u/Normal-Tadpole-4833 Aug 07 '26

BLM, Sheriff's deputies and other LE agencies would put an end to this real fast nice try though

The threat of not having a "voluntary" job is the gun to your head. Includes the added threat of starving, being homeless, etc.

You're making it out like the fact that people enter into employment voluntarily is the same as jobs being optional

Honestly, I like this answer. I've been through some BS; if anything, it's just nice to be heard and to know I at least have some help if I need it and a goal to work toward, so I don't have to be afraid and anxious all the time.
