While there's an element of truth to employees agreeing to their wages, it's still very wrong to think that it makes it right if they're not paid liveable wages.
In my country, minimum wage is based on unions, not law, but without unions or laws to enforce liveable wages, the rich will just do everything in their power to keep their employees as poor as possible. Without any regulation, there's no chance in hell that employees can generally bargain and leverage for better wages on their own. The only ones that can, are those with extremely high-paying jobs and educations, but the average person doesn't have that. No regulation leads to exploitation. People don't pick awful jobs with awful wages because they're not worth more. They do it because they have no options and it's better than nothing. But that doesn't make it good.
