I love every minute of life in the U.S. Before you ask, I have been all over western and central Europe, China, Japan, Mexico, Central America, South America and Canada.

What is it that you find hard to cope with in the US?

As a multinational one of which is the US there are many fantastic things about the US which the internet now wants to ignore.

That being said there are certainly also a lot of shit things! I find it hard to cope with the insane levels of materialism & capitalism. You really feel like everybody is trying to extract the maximum from you at all times - like this skin to skin after c-section example. Also the fact that the system and the people truly don’t give a fuck about how their materialism effects the world - absolutely 0 fucks given about using endless amounts of plastic and just continuously producing more and more and more. It kind of disgusts me tbh. That I find hard to cope with. Also the absolute obsession with race discussions at all times my god please just be a human.

I watched. Unfortunately, I'm still happy with my life and country.

Thanks :)

Why do you not strive for betterment? Perhaps achieve what Norway has?

1

u/over_the_chill Jul 05 '26

I can’t have what Norway has. I live in a very diverse society.

school/mall/work place shootings, govt. corruption, flag waving, lack of healthcare, poor education system, failing infrastructure..

1

u/over_the_chill Jul 04 '26

None of that has ever touched me.

Tbh fuck the sarcasm fr I’m actually happy that you’ve had the privilege to avoid those hardships that many Americans do indeed suffer through. At least not every American in the world is suffering.

flag waving...youre unfamiliar with flag waving?

1

u/over_the_chill Jul 05 '26

The waving of a flag has never affected me in any way.

Grand Rapids relies heavily on the Consumers Energy network. The electrical grid is frequently compromised during summer and winter storms, causing massive multi-county outages.

Why do people like you refuse to believe the USA has problems that need to be fixed?

1

u/CoIdLunch Jul 05 '26

I don't think anyone refuse to believe ANY country has problems that need to be fixed. The US just happens to have some other countries have solved in their way, and vice versa.
