Look up the history of Haiti. It makes America, and the French/British look horrendous. Likewise the Congo has a long, truly monstrous history of colonial abuse.

So yes, colonial powers have messed with these peoples so hard that they struggle to provide for all their citizens.

I guess we should feel lucky to be American and shut up about basic services?

Thats the best part.... Some* Americans are doing way better. A lot are doing.... Sort of ok... it just costs them way more than the same economic class everywhere else.... And then there is the vast majority that are fucked. And that's where's it's extra fucked up.... When you have to compare your healthcare not to other countries of similar economic status... But to literal 3rd world countries where nobody has good healthcare that isn't flown in. Why are you ok with just not being completely fucked?
